Sanders Says He’ll Do Everything Possible to Help Elect Clinton

Bernie Sanders signaled a formal endorsement of Hillary Clinton is imminent, saying in an interview that Republican Donald Trump is “a pathological liar” and that he’ll throw his full support behind electing his rival for the Democratic nomination as president.
“We have got to do everything that we can to defeat Donald Trump and elect Hillary Clinton,” the Vermont senator said in an interview Thursday with Bloomberg’s Albert R. Hunt for PBS’s “Charlie Rose” program. “I don’t honestly know how we would survive four years of a Donald Trump” as president.
The endorsement, which may come as soon as next week, would provide a long-awaited unity moment for party members frustrated by Sanders’ lingering campaign. Sanders has spent the weeks since Clinton clinched the nomination in early June working to influence the party’s governing agenda.

I agree entirely, vtcc73. It's a go for broke, and it's a long shot-- and it's one that the DNC deserve to face.
I emailed him and begged him to join w/ Stein, seeing that the statistics show that Independents are now a majority.
But. He promised, from the get-go, that he'd endorse the Dem candidate. He's in a no-win situation-- and in retrospect, I regret answering his mass email about whether he should run and in what party (Indie or Dem), in that I said, yes, run (no regrets), but in the Dem party (now, regrets).
I understood your "I will not fall in," perfectly. That is why I questioned your questioning of the success of the movement. If you aren't willing to 'fall in,' Bernie has done his job... WE are going to move forward, together.

concessions from her. I am looking at things like appointments to the fed, the state department, the education department, the treasury, and the cia. I see a glimmer that this might have happened, since she has definitely conceded to him on free college offering no tuition at state universities, for children from families earning under a 120 thousand a year.

Having said that it is her neoconservative foreign policy & free trade and investment bank promoting economic policies, that makes me fear her more than Trump. That is not going to change even with "no tuition!",

temporarily. We have a user going through all of their comments and redacting them all. I disabled the editing permissions to stop it. It's that kind of behavior that will ruin the privilege for everyone.

Like after two days, you broke it, you bought it? Or maybe just ban the user for trollishness. I have visual problems and do need to edit comments, to make them more sensible.

the user's account? If they are redacting all their comments they obviously don't want to be here. I not only can't edit I have no tool bar at all above the comment space. No box quote, no bold nothing other then just a comment space. I'm also having problems liking comments when i do it connects and then sends me up back to the top. The arrow that takes you back to the top is also gone. Is all of this is the result of some fool trying to redact their comments or is it a problem on my computer?

I re-enabled the edit function and haven't heard anything like you describe above from anyone else so my educated guess is it's your computer. Refresh your browser.

I did it and it worked. Shah was still sleeping so I had to refresh it without his help. He usually helps me do things like this as I'm a techie idiot and have in the past done major damage to my computer. The site works much better now as does my other haunts.

He was well aware that the hopes of countless donors were in play. The reason he decided to endorse before the convention is that there is no longer the possibility of an indictment. He was holding on until the end. We will have to see where this goes from here.

Unless you personally possess the cash and name recognition which Bernie did at the beginning of his Presidential campaign (or better), it's most of what you can do. With our all-thralled-all-the-time "news" "reporting" media being what they are, even pitchforks and torches in the street aren't as effective as they once were. So, kvetching in the alternative media is at least as effective as anything else an ordinary paycheck-to-paycheck liver can do.

And at least that frees one from the notorious Karma of silence = consent.

If you have a better idea, open to those of us with no net dollar worth and no name recognition (read: the vast majority of us), I'd love to hear it!

Reminded me of something silly:

My husband was bitching about poverty and hunger in a store to me - private conversation, not loud. And some male shopper angrily said, "then why don't you do something about?!"

We just laughed at him.

Many who do bitch... talk about issues - do so because they are deeply involved.

My husband does meals on two wheels twice a week. Not only does he do it, he has his company pay Fish and Loaves his hourly wage while he's doing. They get two for the help of one.

Feeding the Hungry is hoooooooge in my house.

Bernie has really disappointed so many millions of people. He missed an incredible and powerful opportunity! It's heartbreaking and disgusting! He could have been a hero! He didn't finish the race! He's quitting before the bell has rung! He's giving up! How fucking sad!

I agree with most of what all said above. But I want to retain a bit of trust & hope that he's doing this because he needs to, in order to stay in for the convention. And what happens then? I don't know. I'm hoping for a deus ex machina, I guess. A real indictment because of the "Foundation." A rebellion of delegates with voters' remorse. A more formidable RNC candidate who puts some fear into the SDs. An overwhelmingly powerful speech by Bernie at the convention that even the most koolaid-drunk Hillbots hear.

Maybe Bernie knows something. Maybe a miracle. Maybe.

Sigh.

I understand being pissed off, but the guy is NOT a "fraud" and you didn't waste your money and he does not endorse those things because he hasn't fucking endorsed the woman and he's going to put that off as long as he can and still function as a Senator in this corrupt government.

Please, we ALL need to get a grip on these kinds of blanket statements. They matter. Words matter. Attitude matters.

I still respect Bernie for what he's managed to do with his campaign. He has the right to do what he feels is best, but I will never vote for Hillary or any neoliberal Democrat ever again. Where he is going, I will not follow.

It was Barack Obama. Many here are disappointed in Bernie for abandoning the us and his principles by endorsing HRC. Well, he had to sell his soul to the D party to create a left in this country. I guess he could have run as an Independent...how many votes do you think he would have gotten ?

The reality is, we have the formation of something politically important. It will be up to us to focus and make something out of it. Personally, I am so cynical I doubt it will happen and the revolution/movement/whatever will wind up being a foot note. But before there was Bernie, there was nada. I don't see any value in calling him a traitor unless you are buying a bottle and calling it a night...but I've already gone down that path and it ain't pretty so I'm gonna try something else.

Please enough with "The Revolution" already; there's no revolution on the horizon because there's no leader. Yes, there are many Bernie progressive groups, but they are not united and disagree on how to proceed.

Bernie projected strength, focus, and substance and ran a great campaign. He did this despite almost insurmountable obstacles. But, but, he threw it all away at the end and never explained himself. He left us in the lurch.

That brings us to leadership. A true leader never gives up, especially if they have options. Bernie's option was the Greens. Joining the Greens, if only temporarily, would have made his campaign corporeal and given us a structure to build on. He couldn't pivot to something beyond the Senate and caucusing with the Dems. He doesn't recognize their evil. He doesn't realize that Hill is a psychopath who stops at nothing to get her way. He is like the majority of Dems who will vote for Hill - blind and not realizing that the party purposely dispensed with the New Deal decades ago. It will never return.

This a tragedy of major proportions.

From his perspective, an eventual endorsement makes sense as the "pragmatic" move..and I respect it. It's certainly still the lesser of two evils in the current Democrat/Republican paradigm.
Progressive fires can be lit under Hillary's ass with the Democrats in power. With Democrats in power, there are still cracks in the system within which true progressives can slip. With Republicans in power, there is no chance at all.
By holding out this long and shaking up the traditional, rote, meaningless "concede and endorse" expectation, Bernie was able to push for greater progressive ideals in the party platform and in Hillary's policy positions. This was a good thing...which is why I always believed that all those bitching about "why won't Sanders just concede? waaa waaa waaa" all could go fuck themselves.
But now, with that strategy exhausting itself and the convention approaching, Bernie Sanders is positioning himself as an inside player...breaking down the walls inside the party to make it a better haven for real progressives to thrive, and making changes at the root.
His campaign was always a long shot and it seems as if he knew that. But he also figured out how to play political "chess" with the entire situation and WIN that game.
I love that fucking Bernie Sanders'.

So forgive me if this is old news. But I just read this on the Women for Bernie Sanders Facebook page, this morning:

The most recent rumor generated in the mainstream media rumor mill is that Bernie Sanders plans on endorsing Hillary Clinton one day next week. That is absolutely not true according to a statement from the Bernie Sanders campaign.

Fellow Berner, Wayne Pruski was concerned about the idea that Bernie might be caving into the pressure being heaped on him by the mainstream media, the Hillary camp and the DNC establishment. Just set your mind at ease because it's not true. Bernie is taking this campaign all the way to the Democratic National Convention in Philly and he plans on making sure that we have the most progressive Democratic platform possible. Below is part of an email that Wayne got from a Sanders campaign staffer, thanks for the heads up.

Via the Sanders campaign - You may have noticed more than once, that the media does not always accurately reflect what Bernie puts forth. At this time, Bernie is focused on creating the most progressive democratic platform possible berniesanders.com…/sanders-outlines-next-steps-de…/ and on attending the democratic national convention in Philly later this month with his 1900 delegates. He remains an active candidate. In fact, he reiterated this in a TV interview yesterday in which he was asked repeatedly if he would endorse. Thanks so much for your continued support --- it is genuinely appreciated. No one ever said that staging a political revolution would be easy. Thanks for standing with Bernie. It matters.

We all need to remember this, the next time the MSM sets our hair on fire.
