Caucus Critters: Moondae Moppets: We Get By With a Little Help From Our Friends
The country has been anything but peaceable lately, so we thought we would turn things around a little here. Warning: A little sad might creep in.
But first, The Recommendations:
Group Recommendations!
•Our intent is to create a safe place to relax and play; please use common sense and have fun.
•Share any and all pootie/woozle/furry/feathery/leathery photos or issues that you would like.
•When it comes to problems, we may just have someone with experience who can help.
•If you would like a pic from the posts, please ask the poster. He/she may have a copyright to those pics. Many thanks!
•We love critters, so any/all photos that encourage human violence against an animal will be frowned upon and considered out of bounds.
NOTE: If you would like to take a day, irregularly or regularly, please let me know and I will keep the calendar!
BIG appointment book!
Let's take some cues from our furbutts and featherbutts. People and animals get along:
Swan hugs Rescuer
Boy plays with Woozle
Horse Whisperer of Trinidad
And animals get along even when they're not supposed to:
Pooties on Sleeping Woozle
Even if they look a little like mops:
Bunny and Longhaired Guinea Pig
Even if they're a member of a disliked class:
Cat with Capybara, World's Biggest Rodent
We can imagine our furbutts taking up for each other:
So can we please learn to settle our differences with spitting contests?

For a minute, I thought dkos stole my link to c99.

Heh. Every political site needs to play around with pooties.
But 'tis not DKos. Tis Caucus Critters. We do our own thing.

Ah. Yes, it has. I thought you were referring to critters
reminding you of TOP and felt such a reminder as the approach of the shark!
Good to see you here, dkmich.

Here, have a nice, soothing, and
excellently cute lambie to sooth yer savage breast.
This little adorbs was only an hour and a half old. It's nice to have friends who raise sheep

Ooh, s/he is definitely adorbs! Looks so soft too!
What a cutie. Looks big and sturdy for a newborn!

No offense to all the humans,
No offense to all the humans, myself included, but newborn lambs are a lot cuter than newborn people. We need to wait a week or so, or in my case (bald) about 6 months.
Fur makes all the difference
When it comes to cute. No fur, no feathers - we are at a severe disadvantage.

Fed up with politics over the last couple of days...
and then the Orlando horror!!
What is wrong with us.
Anyway, here's a saved little guy, living on a narrow boat on the Grand Union Canal, just west of Harefield, Middlesex, England.
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
He's cute too! Look at that round head!
Well, like I said, if we really have to air our differences, I think we should make spitting the worst we do. We don't spit enough, I guess.

A Barn Owl with a broken wing, living on a narrow boat.
He seemed happy enough, but we didn't investigate further with the boat owner.
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
We'll assume he's happy, then. Might even think he's got it
made, quite the life, hoomins serving his needs instead of having to go out to hunt!

Many many thanks for this bit of
sweetness and sanity in the midst of all kinds of shit-tastic shit. My critters are so much more civilized than 95% of the bipedal types roaming around claiming to be superior beings.
If it's true that "the meek shall inherit the earth" I think we're going to have a lot of apologizing to do to "the meek"... 'cause we're leaving a lot of crap for them to deal with and I"m not sure why "the meek" would even want this mess. And if there is a higher alien intelligence somewhere out there - I can totally see why they are boycotting this planet!
Other than all this, it's been a stereotypical Monday - here's to having things improve SOON!
Think off-center.

You're quite welcome! Barring any disasters, we plan to be here
every Monday 5-530 PM, unless we decide to post a little earlier. Glad you felt the respite.
I've always assumed when the meek inherit, the not-so-meek will be booted off, giving them the Earth free and clear. Maybe that will be after the Earth wobbles back in the other direction, so that the effects of climate change will be less severe.

A manakin
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
Thank you, RL! I had never seen nor heard of a manakin,
which I guess is to be expected since it only lives in that one little area. They are pretty birds! Thank you for sharing.

Loving the Caucus Critters
Thanks so much. No pics from me, but sitting on the deck out back with the pooch. The pootie is watching from the glass door. Do occasionally let her out, too, but only on the deck and it requires a level of vigilance that I don't have in me at the moment...too relaxed after a crazy day.
Edited: typo. Love this edit function. Typing on an iPad is not an easy task.

She's adorable, mj55! And the 'sweetness' shows in her eyes. NT

Oh, she is adorable! She looks like she's really enjoying
wearing that crown.
Say, she's YUGE on my screen, I can't see the whole pic at once even. Do you think you could please edit the comment and place the width at 500? You can remove the height attribute and it will automatically post in the correct proportions. Thanks!
Please check out Pet Vet Help, consider joining us to help pets, and follow me @ElenaCarlena on Twitter! Thank you.
done
and thanks. How do I know thr right proportions for a pic? The last site I posted on a lot would automatically proportionally size it if I picked one dimension. should I always pick 500 pix width?
When I upload from the computer hard drive to this site, if
the photos are big, the site will automatically change them to 500 width upon upload, so that's what I've been going with. For some that are larger vertically, like the smart pootie with the book in today's post, it still looked too big to me, so I took it down to 400. You could eliminate width on those, knowing they're narrower than high, and choose 500 height instead, or whatever size you think works. I'm just in a width rut. Some of the smaller pics were even less than 400 width so I scaled them up, but didn't take them to 500 because they tended to get a little fuzzy. I really just take my best guess, then preview if in doubt. Or edit if I don't see until afterward. If someone says they're still too big on a different device, I'll decrease the sizes more, or see if we can use % instead of pix. But I think pix allows for some adjustment to screen size.
Is that the backside of another woozle on the other side of that doggie bed?

thanks, elenacarlena, good to end the day with
some cute animals, the spitting contest suggestion made me laugh.

start posting earlier, but of course we'll still be here at the end of the day for those who want to save it until then.

Thank you, EC! What a nice way to end a loooooong
and trying day!
I really like the Caucus Critters photo 'logo,' that you appear to have settled on. If everything goes well, I may be able to add a animal 'news' story, starting in a few weeks. (posted as a somewhat lengthy comment, if that's okay)
I literally forgot it was Monday, until I saw Caucus Critters appear in the OT column--got here as soon as I could!
Again, thanks for all your efforts. Right now, I suspect that all of us could use a break from politics.
Have a good one!

Thank you, Mollie! Yes, votes ended up being even on the two
potential CC logos, but I like this one slightly more because it includes both wild and domestic animals, so cast the deciding vote.
I'm going to try to keep mine light with minimal politics, but as you saw, it snuck in a bit today, I couldn't entirely ignore what's going on. But hopefully this will be more of an upbeat space.
I am okay, as seemed to be the consensus, with Caucus Critter posts that target animal politics and/or issues and/or news, and will work with anyone who wants to post such. Just having something in the title or immediately below it that lets people know that it's not as lighthearted, I think will be fine. We'll see how it goes, and if it gets too grim then we'll back off and have politics/issues under a different group. But I think we can do it in a way that encourages discussion without conflict.
So up to you whether you want to do a full CC post or a comment. Right now we have no regular volunteers, so other than Mondaes, the schedule is wide open. Just Caucmail to let me know, in case others plan other posts in the meantime.
PS: As you may know, I had a former cat named Molly. She was a sweet and gorgeous longhaired calico.

Lovely
So good to see this diary, computer has been acting wonky so way late to the party.
Our BB, short for baby brat, had to be put to sleep memorial day. She was twenty one and had good health until felled by a stroke. I am going to try to post a digital painting I did of her, not an artist but had to try.
Aww, so sorry for your loss of BB. What a good long life,
though. Yes, please do post her digital paintings and/or photos. We're here every Monday afternoon/evening if you'd like to do so when more folks are around.
