Waiting for the Great Democratic Transformation (or GoDoT)
So now we're hearing it from our concerned friends--don't go! Keep fighting and keep waiting. The Great Democratic Transformation (or GoDoT) is almost here! Surely GoDoT will arrive tomorrow, and we'll all be saved!
1992: Clinton, the Boomer rejoinder to the era of Reagan. Regan-era neoliberal policy is intensified. NAFTA, PNTR.
2008: Obama was supposed to be the dynamic correction to the era of G.W. Bush. The privatization of health care is further formalized under the ACA. No bankers go to jail, and corporate profits stay strong. The TPP is created. Atmospheric CO2 reaches levels unrecorded in human history.
2016: okay, so the corrupt Democrats lied/cheated/rolled over you, but you're going to win! They are so shaking in their boots! Just stay put for a bit longer. GoDoT is just around the corner!
2020: Well, change is slow; who ever said it wasn't? But a second Hillary term will free her up to be really progressive! And besides, now that the House and Senate are more Republican than ever, we have to stick with her. You can't change horses midstream! Keep fighting, and stay where you are.
2024, well, we can't just give the White House back to Republicans, can we? The GoDoT is sure to arrive soon, but ONLY if we stay together within the Democratic party. Keep the faith. If you don't, you'll be punished....

Vladimir: What does he do, Mr Godot? [Silence.] Do you hear me?
Boy: Yes, sir.
Vladimir: Well?
Boy: He does nothing, sir.

The Democratic Party is entirely moribund
You might as well vote for your cat.
At least your cat gives you some attention.

Recommended just for the Godot play on words
One of our favorite plays.
if we had a rope
we could hang ourselves.
I'm sure that the
pragmatists, no-we-can't bunch will happily find some ropes for us.

The end of the play is like this:
"Let's go."
"Yes, let's go."

All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine. -- Jeff Spicoli
Now reflect on the meaning of that

Not a huge fan of the play, but that scene...
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
Say, I am Happy.
Great reference, really great reference. Thanks dm.
Thanks!
My favorite Samuel Beckett poem
what would I do without this world faceless incurious
where to be lasts but an instant where every instant
spills in the void the ignorance of having been
without this wave where in the end
body and shadow together are engulfed
what would I do without this silence where the murmurs die
the pantings the frenzies towards succour towards love
without this sky that soars
above its ballast dust
what would I do what I did yesterday and the day before
peering out of my deadlight looking for another
wandering like me eddying far from all the living
in a convulsive space
among the voices voiceless
that throng my hiddenness
