Getting in Gear: Volunteering for Phone Banks and Block Walks

I keep looking forward to the general election. It's going to be interesting. Hillary will probably be the candidate for the Democrats, although Bernie has an outside shot. Either way, one thing I'll be pushing my friends in the area to join me for is getting on the streets and making phone calls.

When you sign up online with the Harris County Democratic Party, it's a little funny how close to the Obama campaign the website looks like. The visual cues and symbols remind me a lot of how he set up his, so it's a real clean and vibrant look. Campaigners can volunteer Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm, Thursdays from 6 to8 pm, and Saturday from 1 to 4 pm.

Although, before then, we've still got a couple of primaries coming up. Virgin Islands on the 4th, Puerto Rico on the 5th, then of course a bunch of states on the 7th. So, my Bernie friends will have to just put up with me going to work for Hillary until we get past the 7th. I don't really like slogans, but I suppose in this case, I can say "Hill Yes!"

Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.

for Bernie. My best idea has been to recruit other people I have met over the last 10+ years. Thankfully they're real progressives, and not sHills. And we have collectively made over 55,000 phone calls. And we won't stop now. BOOOOOM!

Make these last 5 days count!

I've been concentrating on calling here in California.

We have a Barnstorming for Bernie tonight to coordinate efforts locally here in NoHum this weekend. Best of luck and thank you for an encouraging dialogue.

lift a finger to support the nominee if it's Hillary Clinton and, in fact, will do what I reasonably can to discourage anyone I know from voting for her (or Trump). Done playing that game. If the duopoly foists two unacceptable candidates on me, the obvious response is not to accept them--either of them. There are good reasons both have historically low favorability numbers. What the IG's report reveals about Clinton's homebrew server (along with her record) renders her unfit for office, imo, as Trump clearly is.

Sanders is the only reason I'm still a Democrat. In my view, he's the only Democrat who's run for president as a D since before Bill Clinton.

Clinton is a Hill too high and too treacherous for me. But of course, we should all exercise our right to support any candidate for any reason and in any legal manner. And to refuse to do so.

P.S. I regretted my vote for Obama as soon as he began naming his chief of staff and Cabinet nominees. He's still hyping the TPP and TPIP. Waving his name around will not buy much with the BernieOrBust crowd.

I'll just have to put in double the effort to get her elected!

There's been a primary going on for forever and your candidate is just barely squeaking by. Seems like you would have gotten involved a little sooner.

If the Democrats nominate such a damaged, venal, unpopular, and untrusted candidate, it will almost guarantee a Trump presidency, and so many depressed and disgusted voters will stay home that the down ballot dems, who've already been used as cut-outs for a campaign finance laundering scheme by the Clinton campaign will be decimated when only the GOP base turns out.

is that you should vote for who you believe in, and that's why I support all the Sanders supporters here.
