Hey, C99ers. I hate to ask, but I need your help.

I hope this does not violate the terms of use here, but I face a serious dilemma.

Yesterday, I received an email that shocked me to my core. Honestly, I cannot recall another episode in my 58 revolutions of the flat earth that has affected me so greatly. Being a rather smug, sarcastic, even arrogant person, it was and is my habit to recognize a challenge or serious issue, to rise up, to face it, and to confront it and to deal with it head on, but always on my own.

Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away there lived a little old man who was born little, but grew old warning the people about the ancient dragon that lived beneath the mountain. The dragon came in the middle of the night and took what it wanted. It was ancient and fat and slow and came only so far as it had to, but fed upon the people and upon their livelihood and took their valuable things back to its cave. The dragon did not eat everything and left some valuable things behind.

Clintonesque greed now infects Medicine's Bible

Despite the title, HRC has nothing to do with the subject matter of this post--but she serves as a damn good role model for what is now infecting medical literature. Twin themes here are a) money buys influence and b) there is no end of sell-outs. This article isn't sexy but it is important.

The Big Question: Will Sanders Folks Vote for Hillary in Nov? Probably Not. (Data)

Much is at stake in November. If enough people do not show up to vote for the Democratic nominee, a Republican will be elected as president, and the GOP may very well control all three branches of government. In addition, the next president will likely have a rare opportunity to swing the court dramatically to the left or to the right for the next several decades. Republicans are offering a slate of presidential candidates that is especially horrific; much of the world visibly cringes at the thought of the current front-runner, Donald Trump, being sworn into office. To avoid many nightmares, the Democratic nominee simply must win the presidential election. The alternative is unthinkable.

The Ballad of Bacon and Eggs for Gold

The Ballad of Bacon and Eggs for Gold

I had a dream
I was a rich man's son
Life was grand
We had a lot of fun

Then suddenly
As happens in dreaming
A nightmare came
The whole world was steaming

Ran cross a bridge
made it inside the doors
I heard these sounds
there was a gigantic roar
Thunder and lightning
The winds were so frightening
people were screaming
the people were dying
