I'm starting to think that this country is doomed.
One of the main arguments for "Vote Blue No Matter Who" was what fascist Trump was going to appoint to the Supreme Court, and opposed to a "good liberal" that Hillary would appoint.
I never bought that argument, and this NY Times article from today is just a small example of why.
My Facebook friends did, though. I really couldn't care less what any of those people said on teevee. Here's my big question: why haven't they confirmed him already? The Republicans in power are the same sort of rapist that he is, and they face no real challenge from the Democrats (as evidenced by the Dem performance under Obama).
Have no doubt, the courts are being stacked with corporate elitists...not just in the US but around the world. There's no better illustration than the ongoing saga in Brazil. First while the Olympics were in Brazil the courts illegally oust Dilma as President and install Temer who failed to be elected several times. This summer past-President Lula is leading the polls, so he's sent to prison on trumped up charges...not given his constitutional rights. In Poland they are removing 27 judges from their Supreme Court. Around the world courts have been complicit with coups. Honduras comes to mind.

troubling views and record when it comes to siding with wealthy and powerful interests, over the rights of working people, women, and the disabled.
James Marc Leas is a patent attorney and a past co-chair of the National Lawyers Guild Palestine Subcommittee. On January 25, 2017, he posted The Supreme Court Supplied a Blueprint to Overcome "Citizens United" -- We Just Need to Use It. Perhaps not the best title, because we really don't expect anything decent to come out of SCOTUS.
Among all the major headlines today, the one with the potential for the most lasting impact and damage is that Donald Trump has narrowed down his Supreme Court nominee list down to two or three and will formally nominate someone next week. The only reason he is set to nominate anyone at all, of course, is that the Republicans in the Senate refused to even hold a vote on President Obama’s nominee, Merrick Garland in an unprecedented maneuver last year.
