I'd like to think of myself as someone who works to achieve peaceful resolution to disagreements. I am very future focused and tend to avoid conflict and in the case of verbal disagreements will defer to avoid conflict. That being said here I go.....Right now progressives need a leader and I thought that Jill Stein could be that person. But the selection of Ajamu Baraka has called into question that assumption.
I suppose the inspiration for this piece is from a piece by Jake Johnson with lots of fabulous links in Common Dreams:
Woot! Can't wait for the US to hear Jill Stein's policies! And looking forward to hearing Ajamu Baraka!
(CNN) — CNN announced Wednesday it will host one of its town hall events with the Green Party's presumptive presidential nominee Jill Stein and her presumptive running mate, Ajamu Baraka.
The hour-long event will be held on Wednesday, August 17 at 9:00 p.m. ET. The event will broadcast live on CNN, CNN International, CNN en Espanol and online via CNNgo.
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Nina Turner, the Democratic former state senator from Cleveland who has emerged as a rallying figure for Bernie Sanders' disappointed supporters, said she is considering an offer to run for vice president on the Green Party's national ticket.
Massachusetts physician Jill Stein, the party's presumptive presidential nominee, reached out with the pitch, Turner told cleveland.com Sunday evening in a telephone interview.
It's going to be a long four months. This place must be making some kind of impact.
The deadlines are here for Ballot Access that will determine if we have a sincere, honest progressive to vote for in November. The Green Party is using both paid petitioners and volunteers to gather signatures. You can donate here to pay petitioners. If you want to volunteer, here are state deadlines, and links to state Facebook pages and contact info for 18 states:
Hi,
Got email from Jill Stein about their push to get on the ballot in Kansas, they have a deadline of August 1st. Their volunteers have been working for 2 months but only have 1/4 of the signatures they need.
So they have resorted to hiring petitioners to get signatures, and they need quite a few more.
They are using matching funds, so every dollar you contribute will be matched 1:1, up to $250.
Received this today after I'd donated to the Green Party earlier this week:
I wanted you to hear it from me first: we blew past our goal of $500,000 in donations eligible for 1:1 federal matching funds--for a total of $1 million!
