Cynosarges : Portland Tiny TAZ Announcement (Open Thread On Philosophy.)

Good Afternoon and welcome to the Portland C99 meetup announcement and general info, as well as what I hope is a fun little discussion of philosophy.

Since I have realized that it's been far too long since we had a Portland Meetup. A small area where just for a few minutes even, we can step away from the chaos and enjoy the company of our fellows.

Cynosarges (Open Thread On Philosophy.)

I don't have an image for this yet, but I've realized that I enjoy Discussing philosophy and would enjoy having an open space for it. While I cannot provide the exercise mats, sauna, public bath, and small 420 friendly coop cafe that I envision as a part of the ideal, I can at least dream wistfully of that day.

International Politics Finals - Liberalism Vs. Capitalism

Linda: Good Morning, we're looking at Great Game, with this the Politics final between the Liberals and the Capitalists.

Tom: It wasn't even sure if this match would come off today, as there seems to be a huge amount of fans of the Fascist and Socialist teams boycotting the match.

Linda: Yes it was a shame that the actions of those fans caused the teams themselves to be be barred completely from the competition. Although what a win for the Capitalists, eh Tom?

Johnny Lawrence... The Cynic.

So, just for the HELL of it, I'm going to do a fun, snarky, little exercise. I haven't talked about something I enjoy for a while, and I haven't done an exploration of a piece of art in even longer, so I'm going to do that. I'm going to explore a show I greatly enjoyed, and explain why I feel that The series "Cobra Kai" might be one of the most eloquent examples of the Cynic philosophy that we have in the Modern Day. (And of course, this will contain spoilers for the show.)

Good morning on this bleak and windy day, where the rain pours incessantly and each and every one of us fears to look up and check that that is indeed rain pouring on our heads.

American Philosophers

Morning to all, and I hope you're all looking forward to the baking and candymaking. About four years ago, my kid made a merryberry candy shell that we poured over some imported chocolate, and it was incredible. I think we had half the city show up at the big house to enjoy it.

American Mythology

Good morning again to everyone. Thanks to those who've taken their own time to catch up our new students. Don't worry, I am not going to make you come up here and introduce yourselves, like some of the more traditional professors. Unless you want to of course? No? Never mind then.

The Fall of the American Empire

(Cascadian National University, Lecture Hall. Full House)

Schadenfreude is a word that we borrow from the Germans. It's a delight in the suffering of others, and an ability to find joy in the deserved pain of the guilty. The fall of the American Empire is indeed a story rife with it, and it all starts with the Empire at its height.
