My Indignant Response to People Who Use Autism as an Insult

This is something I've noticed over the years, especially in comment sections (Youtube is by far the worst), online gaming, and other cyber spaces where people gather. I'd like to know just what the hell compels keybord warriors on various sites to use autism, autistic, or autist as an insult. It's no different than calling someone a retard or retarded.

Disability Caucus 6/25/17: Help (Not) Wanted

A couple of weeks ago I went to a 'DiverseAbility' job fair hosted by Voc Rehab and other county employment services. Of course the whole thing was a waste of time because they only had a few employers and the rest were just plugging services I already use. Services Flori-Duh's government seems all to happy to slash every fuckin' year.

Disability Caucus 2/27/2017: What Jobs? They're Lying.

Today I went on yet another car ride with the employment specialist across the county to follow up on jobs I know I'll never even be considered for.

Stop being negative, she says. Bah. I've spent 15 fuckin' years with Voc Rehab and despite spending years in college completing 2 degree programs, holding several intern and volunteer positions over 3 years during and after college, I still can't get a single god damned employer to take me seriously.

Disability Caucus 2/8/2017: Back to so-called 'Work Participation' again.....maybe.

Whelp..I should have seen this coming. Last February I had to participate in 'Work Participation' to keep SNAP Benefits. By August I had been exempt somehow, yet they seem to have completely forgotten that when I renewed in January when I received a mailer from my local 'Career Source' branch.

Disability Caucus 1/31/2017: Disability Rights Advocacy as a Career?

The other day my employment specialist sent me a link to a job with the college I got my degrees from for a part time administrative assistant. Let me just tell you right off the bat that the requirements...I'm sorry, 'minimum qualifications' for the job are flat out insane. Here, let me post what I mean below:

Disability Caucus 1/28/2017: Not Worthy of an Office Job

May of this year will mark 5 years since graduating college. As of now I still have yet to find a stable job for one reason or another. Just last year I sent out resumes for over 200 postings and to make a long story short, no one was interested either because I didn't have experience or a license.

Disability Caucus Open Thread 12/8/2016: Nowhere to Go

I saw a video from Sane Progressive on how 95 million people have nowhere to go when it comes to their place in the workforce ( Link here). And boy does she have it right. Many people in this country have, quite literally, nowhere to go when it comes to finding work or carving out a living for themselves. Virtually everything is gone.

Disability Caucus Open Thread 11/12/2016: Visiting with My Mom

Let me just get this out of the way right now: My mother and her boyfriend voted for the greasy slum lord. I guess I shouldn't be surprised considering there were hints this would happen before I left Facebook for good (My brother also supported Trump, but couldn't vote). Of course they both ridiculed my support and my vote for Jill Stein by saying 'Hey, good choice, but the wrong choice'.
