Let's compare two sets of headlines. One set from September, at the end of the 2022 primaries...
...and one set from mid-November, at the end of the 2022 general election.
In my previous diary, I displayed a link to a David Sirota post that explained how things got this way. You know:
This headline is a perfect representative of democratic establishment spin.
The progressive insurgency in the Democratic Party that began in 2016, and peaked in 2019, has been in decline for several years now. The party establishment has sensed it's weakness and now is looking to give the coup de grâce to the upstarts.
The Great Realignment
Obama did bring change.
This is just sad.
Before I talk about the Democrats, let me just say that if Trump loses (and it appears that he will), the GOP will descend into a civil war that will make the Democrat's civil war look mild in comparison. Trump's hyper-loyal base has gone off the deep end, immersing itself in konspiracy theories while rejecting logic and fact-based reality. It's not a group that will simply accept their hero losing.
The progressive insurgency has a chance of scoring its biggest victory yet.
