OT WE 5 AUG 26 ~ This is not AI

~

“You kind of need to remind yourself that you need to focus and try not to let stuff bother you
as much as possible, but it is going to bother you because you’re human,” Zuckerberg said.
“I was human. I am human, still. But, um, but I was just referring to myself in the past.
Not that I was not human.”

And this Zuck is a multi-billionaire. Something is wrong with our system when robots control that much
capital. I guess compassion is not a prerequisite for hoarding wealth.

...seems to be to accumulate wealth for the oligarch tech class.

I think we need to encourage natural intelligence. Wish we would focus on that. Thinking seems to be out of style...just let the computer do it. Larry Johnson has been showing AI bias when he ask them all various questions because they use MSM sources to reach their conclusions. For example the AI's say Ukraine is wining it's war against Russia and gaining land. Of course the opposite is true, but the AI's rely on western propaganda to reach their conclusions.

Hope all is well. Thanks for the OT!

They are still counting the ballots in Michigan but El-Sayed
is 20,000 votes ahead, even though AIPAC blew over $36 million
on Stevens. Will see how that turns out. If he makes it thru the
primary and wins in November, he will be the first muslim senator.

What have y'all found of interest?

@QMS I read that a school teacher somewhere in the US is telling this story that he had been researching Flock cameras fairly intensely online. After several days of research, a Flock camera was installed directly in front of his home and the camera was aimed directly at his front door.
Coincidence?
And we still have child porn on the internet?
Thanks for the OT, friend!

" obscured rear license plate", but it wasn't. There was a small stanchion on my bumper but a simple side to side shift of the head allowed it to easily be read, which I pointed out to the cops at the time. They told me that, they knew that and did and could do it, but the automated plate readers didn't and that was very problematic for them and the state. They let me go, as I was soon leaving their state, but warned me that TX took it very seriously and I should remove it before I got there.

Years later, I was musing about using IR leds to mess with the local cams and took a quick look at the state regs and discovered that they had been changed. The rules of my youth and early adulthood had been changed to one that seemed to include not merely obscuring the as to read it. This would put the kibosh on IR , but might not stop using dazzle+lenticular reflecting license plate frames.

Your story reminded me of all that, because, the laws in question are all about traffic cams and license plate readers, not front door cams. I bet the victim of this harassment could use various technical solutions to blind the damn thing and get away with it so long as they gidn't actually contact it. I would definitely try, starting with mirrorred surfaces.

That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --

@enhydra lutris are super sensitive to license plates being somehow covered. If I drive my truck down a muddy road, then get on a highway not knowing mud splashed up onto my plates, well, my bad.
Some hackers say a type of Rustoleum causes a reflection that blocks the reading by the ALR.
Flocks take pictures of pedestrians. They monitor way more than plates. They have vulnerabilities, such as being obvious, and flimsy. Not to worry: the surveillance state has a better system replacing the Flock cameras. Read about Axom. It is already here.

Is how all of this data is being sent from the cameras
to the AI machines. It is obviously not wired tech, so it
must be wireless transmission. Perhaps CHI or RUS
can clue us in to how to jam those frequencies? They
are getting pretty good at that.

is having a sand problem. It is very inexpensive energy-wise
(using renewables to power it) but is being affected by the surrounding
shifting sand dunes. China is attempting to mitigate the situation by using
bamboo patches to hold the sand at bay.

too.
AI can be parsed in a lot of ways; the artificial part and the "intelligence" part. Maybe it's intelligence produced by artifice of some sort, or, maybe the putative "intelligence" is itself an artifice, not remotely intelligent at all. Somebody pointed out that it is really jumped-up auto-correct, guess the next word, then rinse and repeat. It can do this with an algorithm or set thereof, or by allowing a neural net or similar artifice to "experience" vast quantities of exemplars so that it may learn how the task is performed by non bots. Of course, the more bot outlet that gets into the data stream, the less it reflects non-bot reality, which is one big problem. Beyond that, feed it western propaganda and you get something that includes all kinds or erroneous "facts", illogic, fallacies and all that common to western media and literature. It's GIGO; feed it gibberish and you get gibberish, train it on absurd theater and you get absurdities, etc. And, if it is set to work on malign tasks, it becomes malignant. It is bad enough when worked on and developed by honest-to-goodness scientists seeking understanding, but in the hands of any of the tech oligarchs, it becomes evil quickly.

the data farms are so much smarter than humans and totally
worth all of the wasted water and electricity as they will create
an environment where we no longer have to think. Don't buy it.
There are two issues here. One is surveillance, the other is data
collection. They are entwined. But either way, the 4th amendment
is being trampled. Do not see how corporations can sustain this
financial bubble for long.

@enhydra lutris Auto-correct and auto-edit are two very simple applications based on AI principles. They are also royal pains in the arse. I'm a former professional proofreader who can also copy edit. I am constantly fighting these auto apps on emails, texts, etc. AI also can not correct actual human mental goofs like the incorrect use of it's and its, and the difference between the singular and plural versions of some words. They are obvious mistakes. You know, semi-/illiterate in and semi-/illiterate out. Sad I hate AI for these reasons. Thanks for the interesting discussion. Rec'd!!

had an older brother who was a newspaper editor and have a nephew who is, among other things, a free-lance editor. You wouldn't know if from my writing, I know, but the knowlegde and awareness is there.

I have an which will transcribe photos of documents and other writing into editable text files. Used to use the hell out of it. Recently they upgraded it to an "an transcribe" function and it now rewrites the stuff as it transcribes, which makes it useless since the output is no longer a faithful replica of the imput.
