Album of the Week 9-9-23

Afternoon folks!

I've got a couple of live blues albums for you this week, one from BB King and one (a UK import) from Albert Collins and there's a Buddy Guy album to keep you hummin' for the rest of the weekend. Following that there's a big bunch of blues rock, albums by Rory Gallagher, Harvey Mandel (guitarist for Canned Heat), slide wizard David Lindley and a live album from Mountain. Finishing it all off is an album from Spirit.

Here 'tis:

B.B. King – B.B. King "Now Appearing" At Ole Miss

Albert Collins - Alive And Cool

Buddy Guy - Stone Crazy!

Rory Gallagher - Rory Gallagher

Harvey Mandel - Cristo Redentor

David Lindley - Mr. Dave

Mountain - Flowers Of Evil

Spirit - Spirit

i always really enjoyed mandel's early solo work, he was an excellent guitarist with interesting tones. there's more of mandel's stuff and spirit in the collection to be posted sometime.

Hey Joe!

GREAT set of sounds man!

Spirit was big in socal, like Love, being hometown favorites. Fresh Garbage got some fair airplay on radio too. We (at least the Huntington hippies) loved the song, but when I saw Spirit, it and Nature's Way, were the two standout songs. Because I loved and knew them well already, yet they were 10 times better than that live.

We always loved how on this original album version of Mississippi Queen they quoted Cream's Politician for four bars, not on short 45rpm single (minute plus shorter) studio take. The Pappalardi connection.

Great Rory of course...

Thanks for the soundscapes!

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

spirit's hits got serious airplay in my east coast neighborhood, but surprisingly, the album-oriented rock fm stations skipped over their other tunes until the dr. sardonicus album which got really good play here.

have a good one!
