Bill Clinton

Protest this Friday at Cal Berkeley against Bill/Chelsea's visit

I received a Facebook invite from a friend who is a nurse/labor rep for California Nurses Assn, many CNA union members will be there joining Cal students too. CNA does extensive organizing work on behalf of many unions across the country (my favorite was their mock funeral cortege protest in Wisconsin's capitol building/during Walker's slash and burn moment). There is zero press on their visit, but here's the details:

This Friday: 5pm April 1st at Haas Pavilion Building

Why are we listening to Bill Clinton in 2016

Heresy. I know. But don't think I'll get banned for asking the question here.
Why are we listening to Bill Clinton? Why does Bill Clinton get to lie, as he did about Obama in 2008, and now about Bernie Sanders in 2016.

Why do we allow this person to get away with anything? Why is neo-liberalism acceptable to the Democratic Party in 2016?

Enough

[Hello, all. I've finally made the jump to join this community, and am very happy to see it prospering with so many wonderful folks. I'd like to republish my last post on DK, in case I'm banned and it becomes inaccessible. It was originally posted on January 31st. Something tells me it might be worth reconsulting at some point. A few minor edits are included.]

Hellraisers Journal: From The Masses: Art Young on Munitions Makers Fanning the Flames of Hatred

You put a gun in my hand and you hide from my eyes,
Then you turn and run farther when the fast bullet fly.

From The Masses: The Munition Maker & Uncle Sam

This month's Masses expressed a few thoughts on the war now raging in Europe. We found the following drawing by Art Young to be especially relevant.

"It's a Great Country" by Art Young:

The munition maker has made us hated in Europe, and now we must buy munitions
from him to defend ourselves against that hatred.

From Working in These Times: Bill and Hillary Crossed a Picket Line on Their First Date

From Working in These Times of Feb 9, 2016-

“On Bill and Hillary Clinton’s First Date in 1971, They Crossed a Picket Line”
by Zach Schwartz-Weinstein

According to the above article, Hillary Rodham and Bill Clinton, young law students at Yale, were members of the student’s Committee for Local 35 and their signatures were on a statement of support for the union a week before the strike.

A Way for Hillary Clinton to Heal the Wounds Dividing the Democratic Party (Sarcasm)

If Hillary Clinton is a true liberal, as Markos Moulitsas has so definitively asserted, then it creates a framework for healing the wounds that have divided the Democratic Party.

At the same time, it stands to reason that Hillary Clinton’s refusal to acknowledge the growing rift between party members creates an almost insurmountable obstacle. As is common in all sick families, a problem that isn’t acknowledged can’t be cured. And there are many grievances to be healed.

Hillary Clinton Will Never Be A “True Liberal”

It was all a lie – one of the biggest and most elaborate falsehoods ever sold to the American people. .

We thought we were just letting a friend crash at the house for a few days; we ended up with a family of hillbillies who moved in forever, sleeping nine to a bed and building a meth lab on the front lawn - Matt Taibi
