This months camera club outing was at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. With the cherry trees in bloom right now it's a great time to visit the garden.
Everyone knows about NATO membership, but few are familiar with the fact that NATO has "allies" and "partners".
They include such countries as Japan, Australia, and believe it or not, Russia (from 2002 to 2014).

For far too long far too many of us have mostly ended up just going along with some of the worst acts against humanity, ever. Either in outright denial of reality or via superhuman feats of rationalization...or by being misled in one way or another, or by simple exhaustion, pummeled as we are by the constant torrent of media-borne propaganda.

The company that created its entire brand on the idea they weren't invasive like Google, just decided to be invasive like Google. Responses were overwhelmingly negative. Those defending the decision were ratio'd into oblivion.
Just a few months ago it appeared that COVID and vaccine mandates were going to be the biggest issues for the November 2022 elections.
It now appears that this perspective will seem quaint.

I was doing a bit of research a few days ago; refreshing my memory about certain aspects of the end of the western Roman empire. I couldn't remember which tribe the General, Stilicho, came from. I was too lazy to go downstairs to my library and find out the info there, so I looked it up on Wikipedia, as researchers will do when in a hurry for a piddling detail, or, being lazy.
