Christmas - the Season of Peace

Our nation's self-image since WWII is in large part a promoter of peace in the world and our communities. The story goes - We are not perfect, but try our best. Except this year is different. It is harder to ignore US government, NGO, corporations and many of our citizens are addicted to killing people for personal gain. It does not have to be large dollar amounts, simple paycheck or pension is adequate for many. This week's vote process in the United Nations Security Council we were left exposed providing opportunity and assistance in the destruction of a native population from their historical home.

Blank stare of PTSD is showing up in more of our public officials. They can not ignore their individual actions to protect evil.

Peace sometimes has to regain its momentum by the collective us realizing how bad life actually can become. Peace in our personal lives, community and world is not a bucket list goal to be checked off as completed. Peace is an elusive state to achieve and easy to loose. At a baseline level, easy to say, hard to continually practice - being at peace with oneself and consistent in our actions.

________

If a method to stimulate change for peace is effective it needs to be evaluated for infiltration when the technique is used again.

(The biggest danger of the CIA is their techniques were taught to many different intelligence groups and and multiple agents became freelancers.)

Mike Benz: How Dangerous is the CIA? (25:12 min)

My conversation with former State Department official Mike Benz, delves into the intriguing intersection of music festivals, concerts, and intelligence operations, specifically focusing on the CIA's alleged use of these cultural events to influence and facilitate regime change. Mr. Benz, drawing upon his expertise and experience, will provide insights into the covert strategies employed by intelligence agencies in leveraging the universal appeal of music to shape perceptions and catalyze political change.

We'll explore the historical context of such practices, examining instances where music festivals and concerts may have served as platforms for disseminating information, fostering dissent, and fostering cultural movements that align with the geopolitical objectives of intelligence agencies. Mike Benz sheds light on the intricate balance between entertainment and political manipulation, exploring how these events become conduits for covert activities and diplomatic agendas.

________

NATO is a mess and the Russians are winning

The British are about to sign a Naval Security Pact with Ukraine, doubling down on their support for the sinking Volodymyr Zelensky-led country.

Meanwhile, Germany is upping its arms commitment to Ukraine, even though its arms stockpile is practically empty. Both the UK and Germany are emptying their wallets and their arsenals while the US is trying to do the same thing.
...
The key point is that it will take five more years (eight years total) to deliver Harpoon missiles to Taiwan. It is even worse for other war stocks such as 155mm and 120mm ammunition.

The weakness and problems of the American defense industrial base pale in insignificance to the manpower shortages affecting most NATO members as well as the US.
...
Ukraine is also facing a huge shortfall in manpower and its use of draconian recruitment efforts is unpopular and could force Zelensky to resign. Impressed and dragooned soldiers don’t fight effectively and are only canon fodder at best.

Worse still, many of those who resisted the Ukrainian draft (some of them paid off draft administrators in amounts typically of $1,000) come from the Ukrainian nomenklatura, namely the upper classes or those with high-level skills or those from politically connected and privileged families.
...
Fixing NATO is a very difficult problem because it has been pretending to be an offensive alliance and not a defense system. With its mission corrupted and its border with Russia vastly expanded (almost all of Eastern Europe and Finland), NATO’s ambition to add Ukraine is a country too-far because this time the Russians did not accept NATO’s expansionism goal.

Pepe Escobar: Yemen Ready to Stare Down a New Imperial Coalition Sputnik Globe Dec 20, 2023

Ansarullah Supreme Political Council member Muhammad al-Bukhaiti felt compelled to re-stress the obvious: “Even if America succeeds in mobilizing the entire world, our operations in the Red Sea will not stop unless the massacre in Gaza stops. We will not give up the responsibility of defending the Moustazafeen (oppressed ones) of the Earth.”
...

Which countries will suffer?

◾️Difficulties in shipping on the Red Sea will primarily affect Egypt's economy. The week-long blockage of the Suez Canal in 2021 cost the world $10 billion. This time, the amount of damage could be much greater.

◾️Israeli port Eilat has lost about 85% of its revenue due to the Houthi attacks, the port director said

◾️Jordan's economy is also suffering due to the growing crisis. Cargo handling at the port of Aqaba decreased 16% last month. The number of ships arriving at the port of Aqaba, which is Jordan's only outlet to the sea, decreased by 14%.

...
So far, on one side we have Yemen virtually ruling the Red Sea. On the other side, we find UAE-Saudi-Jordan tandem, in the form of an – alternative - cargo land corridor set up from the port of Jebel Ali in the Persian Gulf across Saudi Arabia to Jordan and then Israel.

The corridor uses logistical tech from Trucknet: that’s truck-based overland connectivity in practice, reducing transport time from 14 days via the Red Sea to a maximum of 4 days on the road, 300 trucks a day, everyday.
...
To offer much needed relief of so much insanity: almost casually, President Putin recently remarked that the Northern Sea Route is now becoming a more efficient maritime trade corridor than the Suez Canal.

We can only hope it is possible to see a major change in our approach, but the government is owned and controlled by those who profit most from destruction and chaos.

I hope all of you have a peaceful, fulfilling holiday!

Just the other day, New York Attorney General Letitia James issued a remarkable statement. “Before this trial even began, the judge ruled in our favor and found that Donald Trump did engage in years of significant financial fraud,” James boasted publicly. This is associated with just one of Donald Trump’s absurd legal cases. Let what this laughable, biased prosecutor said sink in for a moment. She admitted that the honorable judge had “ruled in our favor” before the case had gone to trial. Even for this collapsing Banana Republic, it’s a shocking precedent to openly brag about such a serious breach of basic legal protocol. James, whom Trump has called “racist,” recently stated, “The Donald Trump show is over.” James has referred to Trump as an “illegitimate president,” and said “his days are numbered.” She lashed out at Trump at many rallies, even declaring, “We’ll bring him down!”
….
It’s hard to keep track of the players without a scorecard, but Jack Smith, the prosecutor in the case where Trump is being tried for alleging electoral fraud, something which Stacy Abrams continues to do in the same state, …..

Hillary has also said for 6 years that the election was illegitimate because Russia helped Trump derail her coronation and democrats have refused to certify the election 5 times without being called insurrectionists. Funny how no one including the republicans being called insurrectionists don’t bring that up.

I’m now thinking that the election was not on the up and up. And it’s not true that Trump lost 63 court cases. He won 2/3 cases where a court allowed them to go forward. The other cases were never heard. Lol…he didn’t have standing. Right now the polls say that Trump would beat Biden… if that’s the case closer to the election, but Biden wins I doubt most people would think it was not rigged…stay tuned.

Remember when the FBI sent armed agents to arrest many of the people in Trump’s administration or SWAT teams were sent to haul people out of their homes? Peter Navarro was arrested at the airport and put in leg irons because he ignored a congressional subpoena. Steve Bannon was also arrested for ignoring his subpoena. But Hunter Biden just did the same thing and so far he is still free.

Republicans just released evidence that Robert Peters, AKA Joe Biden emailed Hunter’s business partner 54 times after his son was appointed to the Burisma board. Democrats keep saying that there is no evidence that Joe or Hunter did anything wrong. If you can’t win on facts then baffle them with bullshit.

I don’t understand how the judge could just make up an arbitrary number for what he thinks a house is worth and then haul in the owner of the house to defend himself from being guilty of what the judge accuses. That’s not how due process works is it?

@snoopydawg got removed immediately from that case. She did it once again on a murder case, was removed from office.
I think this whole case about inflating real estate prices is bs. You can look at "comparables", (prices for similar real estate in the locale) but in reality, fair market value is the price any buyer was willing to pay.
No judge can determine fmv, but can listen to appraisal values from experts and make a ruling.
I do know people that dislike Trump but who will vote for him for president if he is imprisoned. It is like their last gasp for support of the Constitution, and the idea of democracy.

Crowdfunding site IsraelGives allows US residents to donate millions to paramilitary groups, IDF units and settlers

Jason Wilson

An Israeli crowdfunding platform, IsraelGives, has allowed US residents to donate millions of dollars since 7 October to causes including illegal West Bank settlements, paramilitary groups, and Israel Defense Forces (IDF) units currently operating in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

Legal experts say that some of these campaigns may be illegal under US tax law, but that this is rarely enforced on donors to Israeli causes.

While contributions from wealthy US nonprofits or individuals to illegal settlements have been previously reported, IsraelGives’s established crowdfunding platform, attached to an international network of linked non-profits, may allow smaller donors in the US and beyond to claim tax deductions on funds sustaining war and settlement in the occupied territories.

The revelations come amid an escalating humanitarian crisis caused by IDF attacks killing civilians in Gaza, and mounting campaigns in the US to enforce laws that should prevent US non-profits from funding illegal settlements.

IsraelGives is an Israeli tech company founded in 2009 by Israeli entrepreneurs Jonathan Ben-Dor and Joseph Gitler, according to company filings and tech sector monitor Crunchbase.

It allows nonprofits in Israel to solicit funds on a platform that is similar to GoFundMe and other crowdfunding operations, where users can initiate fundraising efforts and set a fundraising goal, and donors can record their name, the amount of their individual donation, or their location on the fundraising page.

A network of associated nonprofits – most of which count co-founder Jonathan Ben-Dor as an officer – allow tax deductions on donations to Israeli nonprofits for residents of the US, Canada, the EU, the UK and Australia. It also runs a donor-advised fund, a kind of nonprofit entity which have been widely criticized for, among other things, concealing flows of “dark money” to rightwing causes.

I wonder if this also includes 10% for the Big Guy?

https://thehill.com/policy/defense/4375379-biden-says-did-not-ask-cease-...

President Biden said that he did not ask Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to negotiate a cease-fire in the country’s war with Hamas during a call Saturday, despite rising pressure to do so.

Biden told reporters that he had a “long talk” with Netanyahu, not discussing its contents, later adding that he did not ask for a cease-fire.

The international community has nearly unanimously urged the U.S. and Israel to push for a cease-fire in Gaza, as the Palestinian death toll from the Israeli military offensive rises.
