Set the Spin Cycle on High

Open Thread Image.jpg

It's been another busy news week. Are TPTB targeting Joementia? Usually they hide information about illegal classified documents. It has also been interesting to watch people come unglued over investigating the mafia branch of our government in congress. Additionally, the conflict in Ukraine is not going well for NATOstan and will require more spin...or perhaps just ignoring the facts? Let's dive into details below the fold...

The FBI Is FREAKING OUT About New House Investigation

Among the numerous concessions Kevin McCarthy had to agree to in order to become Speaker, none has Washington DC more up in arms than the possibility of a new “Church Commission”-style House investigation into the FBI and other elements of the government’s intelligence apparatus. Guest host Aaron Maté speaks with former Trump administration official Kash Patel about his experience in attempting to expose the security state and the omnipresent ways the intelligence community insulates itself from outside scrutiny.
(11 min)

Aaron had a series of clips on the investigation...

CIA BLOCKED Release Of Key Russiagate Documents! (9 min)
During the Trump presidency, as the bogus Russiagate accusations swirled, internal investigations were taking place behind the scenes, many of which produced a paper trail. Yet many of those documents remain under lock and key, restricted from public view by powerful individuals at various government agencies. But the results of many of those investigations may soon be made public, says former Trump administration official Kash Patel, and with them the prospects for a full accounting of how the massive Russiagate conspiracy theory was conjured up. Guest host Aaron Maté and Patel discuss the ways Gina Haspel, Rod Rosenstein and other Deep State figures maneuvered to keep the truth about Russiagate hidden.

“Don’t Investigate The CIA!” Demands Fmr CIA Agent (5 min)
Ex-CIA agent Mark Polymeropoulos loves that Congress provides strict oversight of intelligence agencies – he says it right there in the first paragraph of his Washington Examiner opinion piece on the subject! But this new investigative body House GOP members plan to set up to look into possible illegal activity by the FBI and other agencies? He’s not on board, and he’s particularly upset that it’s his fellow Republicans who are seeking to put his beloved intelligence services under greater scrutiny. Guest host Aaron Maté and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss all the ways the CIA and FBI are NOT currently experiencing nearly the oversight they merit.

Dems Fall All Over Themselves To Defend The FBI (10 min)
Liberals were once wary of the FBI, like, for example, back when the agency attempted to blackmail Martin Luther King jr into killing himself. But now the FBI has become a target of the MAGA right, and for most Democrats, that’s good enough to earn their support. So it should come as no surprise that Congressional Democrats as one have spoken out against the new “Church Committee”-style investigation House Republicans will soon be launching to potentially uncover FBI misdeeds. Guest host Aaron Maté and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger review some of the more preposterous speeches made by Democrats fawning over the FBI.

Joe Scarborough FREAKS OUT About GOP Investigating The FBI
(5 min)
Former Republican Congressman and current MSNBC host Joe Scarborough is positively APOPLECTIC about the possibility of new House investigations into the FBI and other intelligence agencies. Such investigations might result in – gasp! – cuts to the FBI’s funding and then possibly even a reduction in the military budget! Such a prospect is too horrifying even to consider, Scarborough says, and for him the betrayal is personal, as it’s House Republicans leading the effort. Guest host Aaron Maté and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss the woes of Joe and all the other establishment shills for the national security state.

The Twitter files have been shining a light on the depth of government involvement in the censorship pogrom.

The Grayzone's Max Blumenthal and Aaron Mate cover new Twitter leaks demonstrating a coordinated campaign between US intelligence, Democratic Party elites, and their corporate media lackeys to sell the public on the lie that Russian bots had infiltrated social media to influence the results of the 2016 election.

Research conducted by New York University’s Center for Social Media and Politics into Russian trolling behavior on Twitter in the lead-up to the 2016 US presidential election has found “no evidence of a meaningful relationship between exposure to the Russian foreign influence campaign and changes in attitudes, polarization, or voting behavior.”

Which is to say that all the years of hysterical shrieking about Russian trolls interfering in US democracy and corrupting the fragile little minds of Americans — a narrative that has been used to drum up support for internet censorship and ever-increasing US government involvement in the regulation of online speech — was false.

Matt Taibbi on the Twitter files (1.5 hours)
Matt Taibbi joins The Grayzone live for a discussion with Max Blumenthal and Aaron Mate about his reporting on internal Twitter files exposing shocking levels of US government pressure on the social media giant to censor accounts dissenting against official deceptions and revealing some of the most titanic frauds of the Trump-era Russiagate drama.

The Twitter files add fuel to the fire of the FBI/deep state investigation. Now will the investigation really matter? We'll just have to wait and see. No doubt we project on to others exactly what we do...interfere in the elections in other countries.

Renowned Argentine sociologist and author Atilio Boron joins The Grayzone to discuss the legal assault on his country's former president (19 min), Cristina Kirchner, the attempts to sabotage leaders from Brazil's Lula da Silva to Peru's Pedro Castillo, and the elite forces behind what he considers a continent-wide program akin to the notoriously bloody Cold War-era Plan Condor.

Guaidó Is Gone, but Media Dishonesty Is Here to Stay

A few outlets recognized that the latest developments represented “a blow” (New York Times, 12/30/22) or “a failure” (Financial Times, 1/8/23) for the United States, but for the most part the media’s goal seemed to be to solidify the biased premises underlying the regime-change operation. Corporate media remain as unwilling as ever to question US foreign policy, regardless of its deadly consequences.

What a load of BS...the US pretend president has finally come home to his CIA masters.

The Biden Papers...
In Biden Documents Story, Stenography and Scandal Take Center Stage

In a media environment where partisan news coverage blurs the truth, many Americans will only hear headlines about one president—Biden—who condemned Trump for keeping secret documents and is now guilty of the same offense.

Collinson concluded by pointing out that journalists have been peppering Biden and his surrogates with questions about the documents since the story broke: “Scalise, Comer and other Republicans will certainly ensure that Biden won’t get to stop answering questions on his own classified documents problem any time soon.”

Oops, turn up the spin machine!!!

...with a former federal prosecutor saying that the Biden case was “completely different from the Mar-a-Lago case,” because it was self-reported, suggesting “a lack of intentional conduct,” in contrast to Trump apparently intentionally taking the classified documents.

Good luck with that spin approach.

Dems SCRAMBLE To Defend Biden’s Classified Document Scandal! (15 min)

The recent revelations about Joe Biden’s lackadaisical attitude toward handling classified documents while he was Vice President leave Democratic partisans in something of an awkward position, particularly the ones who adamantly and vociferously denounced Donald Trump over HIS classified documents scandal. But they are determined, and will find any excuse and explanation to exonerate the President while continuing to condemn his predecessor. Guest host Aaron Maté and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss the condemnations of Trump that came from the likes of Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Lawrence O’Donnell.

Hunter BIDEN Had Access To CLASSIFIED Documents Kept With Corvette!
(10 min)
It’s no secret that Joe Biden, an admitted car buff, is proud of the classic Corvette he keeps in the garage at his home in Delaware. He is, perhaps, less proud of the classified documents he was until recently also storing in the garage alongside his beloved ‘vette. But now that it’s been revealed that Biden improperly handled these and other documents, the Justice Department under Merrick Garland has launched an investigation. Guest host Aaron Maté and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss Biden’s carelessness with classified materials, and the possible consequences he’ll face.

Why Didn't Biden Just Burn Those Classified Documents?

Biden is not an honest man when it comes to political issues. He is not a stranger to covering things up. The decision to let this out, to not cover it up, is so far unexplained. The whole thing can only hurt Biden. It also disables the Democrats of using Trump's withholding of classified papers as a weapon against him.

The episode doesn't smell right. Has the deep state now targeted Biden?

SCOTT RITTER: 2023 Outlook for Ukraine

Given the duplicitous history of the Minsk Accords, it is unlikely Russia can be diplomatically dissuaded from its military offensive. As such, 2023 appears to be shaping up as a year of continued violent confrontation.
... the casualty rates sustained by Ukraine, which at times reach more than 1,000 men per day, far exceed its ability to mobilize and train replacements. Russia, on the other hand, is in the process of finalizing a mobilization of more than 300,000 men who appear to be equipped with the most advanced weapons systems in the Russian arsenal.

When these forces arrive in full on the battlefield, sometime by the end of January, Ukraine will have no response. This harsh reality, when coupled with the annexation by Russia of more than 20 percent of Ukraine’s territory and infrastructure damage approaching $1 trillion, bodes ill for the future of Ukraine

How will NATOstan spin this? My guess is they will handle it like Afghanistan, and just let the story die on its own.

And of course this will not be reported at all...

Miss Ukraine Spreads Wings – And War Propaganda – At Miss Universe Pageant (5 min)
The annual spectacle that is the Miss Universe Pageant continues this year, and with war raging in Eastern Europe, special attention has fallen on Miss Ukraine, Viktoria Apanasenko. Apanasenko’s resulting entrance went viral, featuring a costume based on the Archangel Gabriel and featuring a war sword and expansive, unfolding wings. Coming out of a war already characterized by extraordinary levels of propaganda, the costume represented yet another standout example of innovative war porn. Guest host Aaron Maté and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss whether closer inspection will reveal fascist symbols beneath Miss Universe’s wings.

Riverside Speech Transcript

Now, let me make it clear in the beginning, that I see this war as an unjust, evil, and futile war. I preach to you today on the war in Vietnam because my conscience leaves me with no other choice. The time has come for America to hear the truth about this tragic war. In international conflicts, the truth is hard to come by because most nations are deceived about themselves. Rationalizations and the incessant search for scapegoats are the psychological cataracts that blind us to our sins. But the day has passed for superficial patriotism. He who lives with untruth lives in spiritual slavery. Freedom is still the bonus we receive for knowing the truth. "Ye shall know the truth," says Jesus, "and the truth shall set you free." Now, I've chosen to preach about the war in Vietnam because I agree with Dante, that the hottest places in hell are reserved for those who in a period of moral crisis maintain their neutrality. There comes a time when silence becomes betrayal.

Have a lovely Sunday and nice holiday tomorrow. I look forward to your thoughts and comments below.

Ukraine is throwing lives away. When Russia sees a losing position they retreat rather than sacrifice their solders. Bakhmut is called the "meat grinder" for a reason. As Ukraine send more men in to die to prevent a PR loss, because this is a PR war in the west. Russia is sticking to task, demilitarizing Ukraine, and they still have not made their primary advance...which most analyst suggest will happen soon.

Thanks for the repeated headlines. Reminds me of the newscasts from across the country all saying the exact same words.

@Lookout that the US warmongers won't give up bc of Ukraine setbacks and will continue with their effort to undermine Putin, stretch his army thin, by ratcheting up tensions w Russia in Finland, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, wherever the US/Nato have clout and current Euro gov'ts are hostile to Moscow. Somewhere from Turkey, Ukraine, and up to Finland is where the next ww will emanate, not China. China would enter the fray later in alliance w Russia against the West is my guess and then all heck would break loose.

Hard to imagine Ru would accept any kind of military stalemate which leaves a hostile regime in power in Kiev while the US/Nato continue to drag out the conflict with weapons shipments. So I'm betting that Ru asserts itself militarily in the next five months to change the current status quo to one more of its liking. I don't think Putin could survive politically with anything less.

FWIW--I agree with Lookout on the fading out of Russian conflict, and an eventual silence. Even Zero Hedge which had featured decent coverage of the war, has pretty much stopped covering it and usually leads with a Misleading main street media headline. Something like, "Russia gets small victory after months of failure."

My intention is to continue with as thorough an examination of everything concerning the Russia/NATO conflict I can get from reputable journalists as long as my fading vision allows me to do so.

Something to bridge a couple current events is the takeover by the DoD of two
functions not in their realm. The DoD running the Covid response, when it should
have been HHS or FDA is one. The second is the take over from the Department of
State the responsibility of negotiating foreign affairs. Both examples are a total
failure. Inappropriate responses, devastating consequences and compliance by the
media have wrecked the reputation of US authority both globally and domestically.
Why has the military arm of the government been allowed to call the shots?

@Lookout @Lookout from China, Cyrus did some great reporting on the Meng Wanzhou extradition hearings there. He's from Orlando, FL, went to China first as a golf instructor. He knows western business people who have experience in China as well and sometimes interviews them. As a business oriented person, he's fairly conservative. He's not at all like Daniel. He's not argumentative.

It's been really interesting to see him interact with the others. I was watching his youtubes from China before he came back to North America. Because he was out of the US so long, some of his views on US domestic politics seemed dated to me. On the other hand, viewing the anti-Chinese perspective from the point of view of someone who really knows what China is like, and then returning to the US to see how everything changed during one's absence can change or mature a person's perspective.

start paying attention to what the goals actually are. The DoD is running the show here, but they aren’t the ones who are really in charge.

The WEF and WHO – Are They Running a Death Cult? A WHO / Pharma controlled Worldwide Tyrannical “health system”

From the looks and evidence – ever more visible to even the ignorant – we are living in a Death Cult – a cabal-driven death cult, with a key objective to do away with: eliminate a large segment, if not the majority of the world population.

Who is executing this Death Cult? And on behalf of whom?

Three entities come to mind.

Sasha appeared on the Kim Iverson show that was essay'd yesterday. Here is another video she did.

A special thanks to Thomas Nast:
1870 – A political cartoon for the first time symbolized the Democratic Party with a Jackass - ("A Live Jackass Kicking a Dead Lion" by Thomas Nast for Harper's Weekly). NOTE: It is a Jackass, not a donkey or mule, but that's been obvious all along regardless of all of the euphemistic references by the Dems and the media,

1889 - Coca Cola was founded
1892 - Rules of basketball were published
1919 – Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht were tortured and murdered by the Freikorps
1967 - Packers beat KC 35-10 in first Super Bowl

Moliere, MLKJr.,and Ronnie Van Zandt were all born; Jack Teagarden and Junior Wells died.

The rain continues

And, as noted above, so does the propaganda. For me the propaganda just goes on by, like water off of a ducks back, I started getting hip to it, with assistance from others, at a pretty young age and by now it's just white noise. Meanwhile, the most prevalent form of "thought process" that the general public seems to practice is variations of the ad hominem fallacy, truth and falsehood, good and evil, beneficial and detrimental and all such oppositional pairings are determined based solely on who and not what or how.

“So this argument that this very different case of Biden’s classified documents is going to be a political problem for him doesn’t, hasn’t really even played out on the other side,” Psaki said. “And I think that’s important to note, because the difference, as you said, is who’s defending democracy. And the answer to that is pretty clear.”

So there you have it. Biden having unsecured classified documents at various places is different than Trump having classified documents behind a locked door with secret service protection is different because democrats are defending democracy. Even though they never got their defending democracy bill passed and they not only rigged the primary from Bernie in favor of Hellabitch they rigged it against him again in favor of the brain dead Biden.

But you asked why they are making a big deal out of finding the documents and IMO it’s because republicans are going to expose the Biden family corruption with all doors leading to Hunter Biden’s laptop and how involved Joe was in the money laundering scheme.

I came to this conclusion after reading this.

Background Check Form Claims Hunter Biden Paid $50,000 a Month in Rent for Biden Home Where Classified Docs Were Stored

After Hunter’s divorce was finalized in May of 2017, he was included in an email from his business partner James Gilliar about a venture with Chinese state-funded energy company CEFC China Energy. The email stated that Hunter and his partners would receive 20% of the shares in the new business, with 10% going to Hunter’s uncle James Biden and the other 10% being “held by H for the big guy.”

Tony Bobulinski, another one of Hunter’s former business partners, claims that he had a meeting with Joe Biden regarding the CEFC venture on May 2, 2017, and that the president was the individual referred to as the “big guy” in Gilliar’s email. Additionally, Gilliar himself confirmed that Joe Biden was the “big guy” mentioned in a message found on the laptop.

The New York Post reports: “The following year, federal investigators began looking into whether Hunter and his business associates violated tax and money laundering laws during their dealings in China and other countries. Emails and other records related to the deals were found on the laptop, which Hunter dropped off at a Delaware repair shop in 2019 and never reclaimed.”

According to text messages found on Hunter Biden’s laptop, the president’s son was on the hook for 50% of family expenses. How did Hunter Biden get this money back to his father?

“I hope you all can do what I did and pay for everything for this entire family for 30 years,” a furious Hunter Biden said to his daughter Naomi in January of 2019. “It’s really hard. But don’t worry, unlike pop, I won’t make you give me half your salary.”

The New York Post continues:

The laptop doesn’t contain any direct evidence of such money transfers but shows Hunter was routinely on the hook for household expenses — including repairs to the Wilmington home.

In December 2020, weeks after his father was elected president, Hunter Biden announced that his “tax affairs” were being investigated by federal authorities in Delaware, and said he was “confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately.”

Recent reports have indicated investigators believe they have enough evidence to charge the first son with tax crimes — as well as with lying about his drug abuse on a federal form so he could buy a gun in 2018.

Hunter should have been charged years ago starting with using cocaine during his stint in the navy. And for lying on numerous background checks, for lying about his gun and how it was disposed of and lots of other things he did that were discovered on the laptop. He has been involved in the Biden family business since he got out of college and went to work for MBNA to help get the Biden bankruptcy bill passed and every other business that had ties to Joe Biden.

Republicans are going to expose all of that, but I think Biden’s handlers should have just rode it out because when’s the last time anyone in government was actually prosecuted? Remember that Clinesmith committed perjury to get the FISA warrant to spy on Trump’s campaign and the many intelligence agents that lied to congress and got away free of charge.

Btw Trump had the authority to declassify documents. Biden did not. There’s the real difference Jen you lying sack of dawg poo.

I can't help but think the Biden papers are some sort of set up. Joe has a long history of hiding things. Why would this suddenly become public knowledge. I'm reminded of Jan 6 and the lack of police presence. The optics just are not right.

Thanks for the links and the stories!

If you read the whole article you can see that she’s just spinning her wheels without saying anything.

Too bad that the guy didn’t ask her what she means because how is defending democracy an excuse for having classified documents which is against the law?

It’s been snowing hard here all morning. Getting ready to take the Sam out to play in it. Little stinker rolled her window down and I can’t get it back up. I’m taking the repairs out of her milkbones fund and if she has a problem with it she can call you.

Hey LO! Hope all is well out there! Great roundup of the train wreck we get to watch.

Your last comment 11:34 is my sentiment exactly. They are being planted. He is too far into sunset to know what he has or is doing anyway. There is no 'intent' there. In contrast to other recent similar events. Purity of intent is everything.

We have been cold but dry still. Anyone can send rain anytime. Our bird populations are way down due to the drought, stuff just goes elsewhere where there were fruit, nut, or seed crops. We got none of the above here. The first birds have begun snippets of song though. Which is great to hear. Territorial birdsong is triggered by testosterone, the production of which is controlled by photoperiod. It does not take a month after the solstice before birdsong begins again. Cardinal, Chickadee, and Titmouse have all been singing a little here now. So there is always hope. Wink

Be well all!

Considering that we have been feeding Ukriane arms for years to get
ready for this conflict it becomes even more mind blowing that another
$110bil has been needed. Connecting the dots Russia has completely
destroyed the Ukrainian army and is now doing the same to NATO.

How is it that we have been shoring up Ukraine's military since 2014, and it so weak, shitty, inept, and still in dire need for more of everything to fight?
How is it that people with access to classified documents, classified to prevent people from seeing them, supposedly for the country's protection, have seen showing up on laptops and sent via email to family and employees for years? Bernie said stop talking about Hillary's damn emails. It is getting to be so normalized.
The timing of this breach on Biden's part is peculiar.
It doesn't look innocent to me.
I am headed to a bar to listen to a live performance Cajun music this afternoon, will take a little break from being lied to and harmed by my government.

@on the cusp could be that darn near everything except intra-office birthday greeting messages is given a Classified designation in the fed gov't, and this has been going on for decades. Likely that even people as clueless as Biden are in on the classified joke, so have grown numb to seeing such markings on a gov't document. Embarrassing for the Joester and DNC, but at least it didn't take an FBI raid on his home and court orders for the gov't to get them back.

Best we've got to offer is our living room session later today.

We've been out hanging up the black weed barriers we put over the mulched beds to prevent wheat sprouts. Works good, but still have to go down and fold it all up. So is the life of a hillbilly homesteader.

Have fun!

Biden and Kishida said that any possible use of nuclear weapons by Russia in Ukraine would be an act of hostility against all of humanity that cannot be justified.

This is such a monstrous shame that I will not even comment on the paranoia about the nuclear plans of our state. Think about it. The head of the Japanese government, in a humiliating, loyal ecstasy, is talking nonsense about Russia, having betrayed the memory of hundreds of thousands of Japanese who were burned in the nuclear fire of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And Kishida absolutely does not care that the only country that fully used nuclear weapons was the United States. And its only victim is his own Motherland. He would have to remind the President of the United States about this and demand repentance, which was never brought for this act of war by the American leadership.
But no, Kishida is just an attendant for the Americans. And servants cannot have courage.

It remains to pity the Japanese. After all, such a shame can be washed away only by committing a seppuku right at a meeting of their Cabinet upon their return. Although the concept of the honor of this generation of Japanese vassals is not typical.

12 minutes Best material is first 9 minutes or so.

First Scott explains what Wagner is---not exactly a Blackwater Merc outfit, even though that's what i'd thought.

Next Scott explains Russia's command structure. Gerasimov is now leading a united front; Air Land and Sea. Surovikin was not demoted. He and the other 2 generals will still work for Gerasimov, as they always did.

Then, on to what is coming next. "Loss of Appetite in the West" as we have been saying.
300,000 trained Russian soldiers, fully equipped with the latest and greatest equipment are on the way. (Do not forget the Chechen troops, last I heard they were sent to Transnistria)

Finally, Total collapse of Ukraine and De-nazification. Precisely what President Putin outlined on February 24.

Doesn't look good for Ukraine, but not what you hear in the West. As I said upthread somewhere it is a PR war from Ukraine's perspective. That's why the spin is so important. I mean come on a comedian puppet president....you can't make it up....except they did.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Russia sends 100's of T-90 modern tanks into battle with trained personnel manning them.

Scott Ritter has nailed the ending of this sad episode in human folly leading to tragedy. Many others see and understand what is happening.

Russia is fighting in a couple of towns next to each other on a 1500 mile front, they've been pouring everything they have into it for a long time and not getting much. They use artillery and infantry. Not much in the way of tanks, APCs, aircraft, or rockets. All the rockets go to civilian targets which doesn't do much to win battles.

I'm not sure Scott Ritter and the Russian Propaganda Ministry have a great take on what is going on, they seem almost biased. These are problems with invading other countries, the invaded ones keep fighting until you are kicked out, especially if they are supplied with arms. Think Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

If Russia simply went home, the war would end tomorrow.
