I like living in my head because in there, everyone is kind and innocent. Once you start integrating yourself into the world, you realize that people are nasty, mean creatures. They're worse than zombies. People try to crush your soul and destroy your happiness, but zombies just want to have a little nibble of your brain.
― J. Cornell Michel, Jordan's Brains: A Zombie Evolution

Greetings optimists, dreamers and idealists. The soothsayers and manipulators are at full throttle. Even the C99 essays are dark and droll. It may be sandwich board time.

I am a contrarian, with a plan. I have decided to become a prepper. I spent the past week riding ~200 miles/day. The goal is to reach my next service interval, wear out my tires and build a some stamina. Then head for the motorcycle shop to prepare for escape.

Funk all the gloom and doom, I plan to hit the road for an extended life experience. There are places to go and people to meet. My consciousness is consumed by a plan to head for Colorado, to get high.

Last summer, I traversed fifteen of Colorado's highest road passes. This summer, the goal is another fifteen Colorado passes and one in Wyoming. Maybe more!

The macroscopic plan is to zig zag through southern Colorado, visit The National Parks of Utah, then zig zag back through central, northern Colorado and southern Wyoming.

Spending days in natural splendor and evenings imbibing, beats the funk out of the soul sucking news cycle and the whining cacophony.

Fight the feeling, keep your spirits high. Get high!

I can not wait to visit Lake City. Slumgullion Pass and Spring Creek Pass are on the ride to Lake City. The Million Dollar Highway is just to the west, making for a pair of exciting days.

Enough rock(s), for now. It is great to have something to look forward to. The anticipation displaces the darkness. Turn it up. Twist the throttle. Have a great weekend. The thread is OPEN.

What's wrong with droll? I love me some droll, can't imagine a day go by without it. arid wit

Feinstein has denied that she's changed her positions in recent months to fit the more partisan political climate. And she's not shying away from her reputation as a pragmatic dealmaker. "The way the Senate functions, I believe I can be far more productive for the people of this state than Kevin de León, that's just a fact," she told The Sacramento Bee's editorial board earlier this spring. "If the people agree, and that's what they want, then I'll be elected. If they don't, I won't."

@eyo Droll is not a very accurate description of the sentiment. You say DiFi, I say Dick Burr, let's call the whole thing off.

@The Aspie Corner Thanks for the video. Interesting, but pretty much the converse of MAGA or Citizens United way. Oh what capitalism hath rot.

Many would-be doctors also flock to Cuba for education because they don't have to take out a mountain of debt just to become doctors.

Cuba also has more doctors per capita than the US.

one of your bikes with a ten foot pole, if I rode one I'd most likely fall down with it and squash myself like a bug. I can though, really appreciate the idea of riding. I've always loved road trips (in a car). Your's sounds wonderful. Enjoy it to the max.

I started motorcycling back in my twenties. It was a cheap way to commute and tour. Quickly. Commuting in Pittsburgh, I could shave 30% off the time, compared with a car. Since Sue's death, I have gone back to mostly riding. I bought myself the right tool for the job. Motorcycling makes an extended road trip much less expensive. The isolation and the ambience are very exhilarating.

@NCTim I'll just have to do a vicarious road trip for now. Go for exhilaration in the brain like the Zombie guy says.

I have family in for the holiday weekend, so I got to sleep in today. Looking forward to three more late-starting mornings.

I hope you start your journey down I-40 so you can swing by my casa. I'd love to meet you and share some good ol' NM homegrown!

Have a beautiful day and long weekend, folks! Pleasantry

@Raggedy Ann End of day three would be Trinidad, and that I would spend a couple days in that area. Area takes on a new meaning when on a motorcycle. Things like:

And:

All while making it back to Trinidad by 4:20.

Today we consider substituting travel for travail, always a great idea, but for a geezer like me, bike is, sadly out. For us it is mostly hauling the travel trailer around, or sometimes auto+motel or b&b. One great major benefit is that even where I have connectivity, I skip news except that coming through e-mail or skimming c99p. It it wonderful to be free of that. Good luck and good fortune on your riding and roaming, Tim. Most of all, good freedom from malarkey and the msm and it's sorry-assed news cycle.

I haven't done weed in ages, then, mistakenly dawdled about going up to the nearest dispensary and getting some legal stuff. I've been looking to tinker with high CBD drops or spray for various issues. Now my damn doctor put me on something that I need to consult with him about simultaneous weed use, but needs a few weeks to normalize and then tests for dosage check. Lesson: never postpone shit.

TimDay isn't just funkday, it's kick back afternoon at la casa, and I'm ready for it, but also starting some new routines and regimens, so morning will be crazyland. That said, off to craziness I go.

@enhydra lutris I am running out of years when I will physically be able to do the motorcycle touring. Plus, I am by myself. Plus too, I have decided that I can't take it with me. Smile Rock tunes and touring in today's thread. Then a swing through the comments.

I am a cannabis lifer. It smooths the rough edges of my personality, helps with rheumatism, sleep and general disposition. Back to hard rocks.

@enhydra lutris just fyi California noise: But they do anyway

Collection of the data raises concerns for some because it remains unclear how the federal government intends to respond to marijuana legalization, since the herb remains a controlled substance in U.S. statutes.

In contrast, Colorado and Oregon, states that also have legalized recreational use, banned collection of personal information. And officials in Washington, another state with legal weed, said building customer databases is not practiced there.

In addition to concerns about privacy and identity theft, the data collection also has caught the attention of Second Amendment proponents, because marijuana use by firearm owners is prohibited under federal law.
...
When asked why customer profiles were created, several dispensary workers incorrectly stated the information was required under Proposition 64. Others cited it as a customer convenience. All said a customer who did not agree to the terms would be turned away. None of those queried would agree to provide a last name to a Fresno Bee reporter.

Yet another database, the lobbyists insist. Good luck.

@eyo You have to have your DL scanned to get in the front door. Sessions can have my cannabis when he pries it from my cold dead hand. He better bring a gun, because I'm going down swinging.

@NCTim thanks man, that is a big difference between CA and CO apparently. Data is only used to gain access to wtf you actually voted for, not a bunch of extraneous collection activities for god knows what.

If I had any money, I'd gtf out of California. Tough beans to just end up a burnt pile of suicidal cremains, because the economy is so great!

Apparently Google, YouTube, and those corporations in the Subject need moar!, so they give an ugly black censorship box instead of the music y'all are trying to share freely. Thanks anyway.

Would be nice to avoid posting embedded videos that force advertisements on users who prefer internet to TV. Please! That is what cable news is for, not the world wide web. Ad sponsored content is garbage to be avoided, not subscribed to, that's what I think.

The "Standard YouTube License" or "Creative Commons" videos show up and play fine without having to stream any garbage first. Thanks.
