Rambling thoughts are all I have left.
No matter who is in the White House, nothing ever changes.
The same with the Congress, both houses, nothing ever changes.
It's like Gilligan's Island, every episode/election we start thinking we will somehow be rescued from this predicament. It's always someone new that shows up, or some new promise that keeps us hoping that this time will be different. And then we discover rescue wasn't written in the script.
We still have an enormous Defense budget, going back decades. Since I was born it has always been the largest expenditure the U.S. government has.
Eleven aircraft carriers far surpasses all other countries combined, but is a drop in the bucket in naval warships the taxpayers fund, maintain, and pay to operate all over the globe.
And ground forces with their tanks and missiles and artillery also operate all over the globe, with something like 800-1000 bases and many more "Lilly pads".
Thousands of aircraft constantly being used, abused (and lost overboard), and then replaced on a regular basis.
Our military machine is our island that traps us. We can't question our allegiance to it. We don't dare cut it's budget. And every year we give it even more money.
We desperately need to get off this island.

Being the loser adds the element of fear mongering to the pleas for donations. It is a money maker.
From the view of military logistics, the big island of the US does put oceans and rivers to thwart attacks. We have, for the moment, water and farmland, we can survive if isolated. We need to ease tensions with Mexico and Canada, for added security measure.
My big disappointment with voting at the local level can best be demonstrated by Tx Gov. Abbott. We have new criminal statutes on the way or already in the books that criminalize antisemitism, broadly defined as any criticism of Israel, and BDS.
Ted Cruz and Abbott lead the Zionist way. I never thought this positioning of Texas as the servants of Israel was possible. We are Come and Take It (the hard way) state. It will take time to get used to living in what is now a strange land.

Good morning e1. We need a national awakening across all
subcultures. It cannot start with some mid-level narrative like "both sides are bad", it has to be more basic and then build up to that. FWIW, we need to be supportive yet not - tell those who decry public service and "welfare" spending that all of their taxes go to the military and police forces, that "welfare" is paid by the taxes paaid on pacifists and other "libs", and vice versa. But that is, again the starting point. First everybody or nearly everybody except the oligarchs needs to realize that things aren't all that good, that the status quo sucks mightily and is going downhill fast. Until that is widely perceived and agreed upon, it will be difficult to build serious momentum for remediation. A samizdat campaign would be nice, posters, signs, pamphlets, and projections everywhere, not saying "hooray for our side" but saying "Don't Get Your Hopes Up!" and things of that ilk.

The samizdat campaign
needs to focus on “It is going to get one hell of a lot worse before it will have any chance whatsoever of getting better”.
And the longer it takes for people to truly and fully internalize that, the worse the worst will be. I’m already at the point where I believe that it will take several million deaths on US soil to wake people up from their semi-contented stupor. The water isn’t that hot, yet- but there is a hard boil coming soon.
