Democrats want Trump to start a war

Leading Democrats have found another reason to praise Donald Trump.

Last week’s swift and decisive actions left Trump’s critics on Capitol Hill stunned. The same administration that was slow-walking new Russia sanctions enacted in August did an about-face by working closely with Congress on the Magnitsky sanctions. The praise heaped upon Trump and his administration has come from unlikely sources: Democrats on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

You may be thinking, "Yeh, but that's all about Russia."
It's not. It's just the latest in a pattern.
Democrats praised Trump this week for another reason.

The top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee praised the Trump administration for new sanctions imposed against North Korea by the United Nations.
"That was a good move. That was a major accomplishment. I give our team a lot of credit for getting that done. They're pretty strong additional sanctions to be imposed against North Korea because of their continued testing of ballistic missiles," Ben Cardin, D-Md., said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Democrats also supported Trump with sanctions on Iran.
In case there was any misunderstanding, these sanctions increase the chances of war.
They increase the chance of war with Russia.

Having grown into an inescapable political phenomenon, “Russiagate” abets the chances of war with Moscow in at least three ways. It depicts Russia as a “hostile nation.” It has crippled Trump’s promise to ease tensions by cooperating with Moscow. And it discourages anti–Cold War voices in American mainstream media and politics.
In the past, liberal Democrats did not always, initially, or unanimously oppose such practices, but eventually many of them did so, as during the Vietnam War and the run-up to the invasion of Iraq. But for more than a year the Democratic Party, including leading liberals, as well as influential media outlets associated with them, have been deeply complicit in promoting “Russiagate,” with few if any mainstream exceptions.

So what happened during the last year or so to change liberal Democrats?
It's a legacy of Hillary Clinton's campaign.

But on foreign policy, the Democrats have been largely adrift. The pursuit of Trump campaign collusion with Russian hacking in the last election has fueled inflated warnings about the threat posed by Russia. The neocons, always fervent cold warriors, used that opening to reach out to the Democratic national security establishment.

The hysterical war mongering by the Democrats against Russia has a knock-off effect on the rest of Trump's foreign policy, specifically Iran.

In Congress today, Democrats plan to slap Donald Trump on Russia while giving him a green light to do serious damage to the Iran deal — perhaps even setting the stage for military confrontation.
...Last month, Democrats joined Republicans in voting 98-2 for new Iran sanctions. The only 2 who voted against it were the Senate’s iconoclasts, Bernie Sanders and Rand Paul.

Of course the best example of Democratic warmongering is their near universal praise for bombing Syria, who is a close ally of Russia and Iran.
This is in contrast to the almost complete silence about our destruction of the cities of Mosul and Raqqa, while killing thousands of innocent civilians.

It's not hard to believe that Trump will want to do something that is bipartisan during his administration, if only because it will make his legacy look better.
The Democrats have already signalled what that something should be. War.

My guess is that it'll be war with Iran. Our final, disastrous stage in the GWOT.

Sadly, it isn't just the politicians. Democratic voters have come around to supporting war criminals like John McCain and George W. Bush.
Next up is Dick Cheney and Donald Trump.

same pattern

War supporters said the U.S. urgently needed to attack Iran in 2007. It did not attack. The claims turned out to be lies. Even a National Intelligence Estimate in 2007 pushed back and admitted that Iran had no nuclear weapons program.

War supporters said the U.S. urgently needed to attack Iran in 2015. It did not attack. The claims turned out to be lies. Even the claims of supporters of the nuclear agreement reinforced the lie that Iran had a nuclear weapons program in need of containment. There is no evidence that Iran has ever had a nuclear weapons program.
...
The history of U.S./Iranian relations matters here. The U.S. overthrew Iran’s democracy in 1953 and installed a brutal dictator/weapons customer.

The U.S. gave Iran nuclear energy technology in the 1970s.

In 2000, the CIA gave Iran nuclear bomb plans in an effort to frame it. This was reported by James Risen, and Jeffrey Sterling now sits in prison for allegedly being Risen’s source.

The Trump White House has openly expressed a desire to claim that Iran has violated the 2015 nuclear agreement, but has produced no evidence.

Well, come on all of you big, strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
Way down yonder in Tay-Hey-Ron,
Kicking ass for the Pentagon.
Put down your game-boy, pick up a gun
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't understand,
Next stop is in Eye-Ran;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

Come on mothers throughout the land,
Pack your boys off to fight Eye-Ran.
Come on fathers, don't hesitate
Send your sons off before it's too late.
Be the first ones on your block
To have your boy come home in a box.

And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't understand,
Next stop is in Eye-Ran;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

@edg thinkin its time for a new woodstock, 200,000 dfh's singing and chanting, see how the militarized pinkertons respond to that. Won't go well if they use the stupid sonic and water cannons on 'em like the water protectors. Bad visuals. and it's 2, 3, 4 what are we fighting for? stop the (gimme an f) wars.

And congratulations to you from me, for the modern adaptation. Maybe more catchy, singable anti-war songs might help wake more people up, get them more aware and start more widely-spread protest happening - something has to.

if they will approve a war against Russia if Trump decides to do it. They agree with Her that Russia attacked our country when they meddled in the election. Her has said these words many times since she lost. There are numerous articles that say that the Russian election propaganda is one way to get people on board with it.

Russia has been watching the military buildup that has been going on for a few years, before the damn election was over.

Putin accuses US of violating Cold War-era nuclear pact

Putin, speaking during a meeting with the top military brass, alleged that the U.S. missile defense sites in Romania containing interceptor missiles could also house ground-to-ground intermediate-range cruise missiles, which would be in violation of the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.

He added that U.S. launches of target vehicles as part of tests represented another violation of the pact that bans all land-based cruise and ballistic missiles with a range between 500 and 5,500 kilometers (310-3,410 miles).

NATO has deployed military units to Poland and the Baltics to reassure allies worried over Russia’s intentions following its 2014 annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea and its support for pro-Russia separatists in eastern Ukraine.

The US is also spending $200 million buildup European airbases that flank Russia. Putin says that his military got plenty of practice during the Syrian war.

I'm not surprised to hear that DiFi is okay with the sanctions against Iran. I don't think she has not voted for every war since she has been in congress. Her husband has made a lot of money off the wars. What conflict of interest?

Where the insatiable bully demands that all targeted victims lay down their defenses and lie down to be passively trampled...

They all have to band and stand together against TPTB. Too bad that such terrorists are using us as large-scale 'civilian shields', to left out to fry when the defensive bombs start coming back in our direction, while they crawl off to their luxury bunkers, and their own well-stocked end of the world 'restaurants' - to see what happens when their bunkers crack and the power fails and there's nowhere else left for them to go either, because of their own reckless and ruthless acts.
