Caucus Critters: Moondae Moppets: Rainbow Edition
In recognition of the Orlando 49, we present rainbow critters. Don't worry, we're still just silly.
We's a Diverse Group!
If this is your first time here, pleaz note The Recommendations:
•Our intent is to create a safe place to relax and play; please use common sense and have fun.
•Share any and all pootie/woozle/furry/feathery/leathery photos or issues that you would like.
•When it comes to problems, we may just have someone with experience who can help.
•If you would like a pic from the posts, please ask the poster. He/she may have a copyright to those pics. Many thanks!
•We love critters, so any/all photos that encourage human violence against an animal will be frowned upon and considered out of bounds.
It's official, we are now a group, look up and to your right!
Thenk yew, Johnny! For that we otter dance!

Thanks for this, Elena.
When the BNR moved to TPW, I stopped going to LOF to read it, and I decided it was time to stop visiting the pootie diaries too.
You're quite welcome! I hope to eventually have enough
participants to have a diary a day, like over there. For now, we have Moondaes anyway!

I have opened the shields for this pix

Shields go back up shortly. This is Skya, my Cairn terrier-ist being mellow.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
I clicked the link, but I was too late. Do you want to try
uploading to here? Just click on the pic, top left of comment box, it just takes a minute or two.

I have never figured that out, even with the FAQ
Color me slow. I will figure it out at some time in my "busy" life. Doing displacement activities today shit-hitting-fan is going on in multiple small fire zones. One involving far-away parent. Oh shit, oh fan.

Oh dear. I think the key is after you hit the browser button,
it takes a minute for the File Browser box to fully load - and it's going to get slower as we load more pics!!
Eventually, you will see at the top of the File Browser box three choices, "upload," "resize," and "send to editor". If you don't see those, give it more time.
Then the number of buttons is a little redundant. Hit upload. Then in the new box, hit browse. Then once you choose your pic, hit the bottom upload. Then after it uploads, hit "send to editor" and OK.
So yes, that's two browse buttons and two upload buttons. But once you do it a time or two, it gets easier.
As far as poops hitting fans, especially where a parent is concerned. Please lean on us as needed. Or desired. It's what we're here for.

WIP, ec
I will master this soon. In life, I slept through a call from Lifeline last night. My mother wears a necklace (except when she doesn't). I called this AM in trepidation. She was up, awake, complaining of back pain. Another fall, up to thrice a week. She has no memory now. EMTs must hate calls to that address. Likely another compression fracture. Back in bed by 2PM, cold. It's Louisville, feels like 108. Now no phone pickup. And no calls. Life in a traffic jam with no radio. Sigh.

Oh boy. You must be worried sick.
Could you install railings around the house for her to hold onto? Find a neighbor to have another phone number and someone to check in? Does she have a church who might have someone you could contact when you need? EMTs probably don't mind so much, it's better than domestic violence! Maybe others can add some ideas. I assume she won't use a walker; my parents won't.
"Only" 86 here, 52% humidity, practically springlike.

I talked to her, she is alive and slowly standing
and sitting and trying to figure out how she birthed such a daughter. Another night of sleeping through emergency calls.

Good! Such a wonderful daughter, I'm sure.
You have to get your sleep or you're no good for anybody.

I'll contribute
This is Cotton, the luckiest cat in E. TN. He is mostly deaf, may have bad eyesight and is bright white and stays outside night and day. He refuses to come in. How he has not been snatched up by a coyote or other animal amazes me.

Oh my goodness, Cotton is beautiful!
Heaven only knows how he's making it. He doesn't look at all worried, does he?

Totally gorgeous. But.then,
Totally gorgeous. But.then, aren't all cats?
Definitely agree they all are

Purfleet and friend
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
Ha, for a minute there I thought that was a real bullfrog!
He looks happy. Look at all that greenery he has to enjoy!

Purfleet's the frog
I've no idea who the cat is.

Wonderful respite
I am finding this diary a wonderful respite in a rotten day.
This is a digital attempt at my Baby Brat, who passed Memorial Day at twenty one. Through the mist, always close though.
They always remain close.
They always remain close.
Ooh, even in digital you can tell he was gorgeous and smart.
So sorry for your loss. Twenty one is a great age! You must be doing multiple somethings right. I do think they stay close, at least for a while as we transition to life post pet. I too have felt my former pets close by. They visit me in my dreams quite often.

I can't imagine a like post-pet.
And know of people who have made provisions. Hard for the pet, probably. But into loving, trusted hands at best.

Well, post that pet. Not necessarily post all pets. I haven't
decided yet if I'll replace my current children if I outlive them. It depends on the economy, probably. It's part of why I want Bernie so badly!!

Animal Books
Just wondered if anyone was interested in animal books, just getting into Beyond Words, about animal emotions and on the waiting pile is What a Fish Knows by J. Balcombe, and The Genius of Birds. So many fascinating books out there. In the last few months I've also read The Soul of the Octopus by Sy Montgomery, always enjoy her books.
Yes! I don't have time to read much books these days, but
would love to hear about them. You could even take a day and do a Caucus Critters post on them weekly or once in a while, if you wanted.

I'd be willing to give it a try
I'd certainly be willing to give it a shot, not certain when I could do it as things are at sixes and sevens but if I come up with something I run it past you? Sorry, haven't tried anything like this before but I'd love to do a once in a while book review.
Yes, run it past me and we can figure out the best time on
the schedule whenever you're ready.

Anyone online who can hear this year's cicadas?
I am N of there, not yet hearing my yearly noise. Or finding the carapaces on trees.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
Nope. Mostly only in Ohio and West Virginia this year.

Edit: I have seen quite a few fireflies this year, though!

OH! fireflies! yes it's time.
Moondance (moon rose about 15 min ago here) will be accompanied by firefly watch. I have seen magic before.

Were you out during the full moon? It was cloudy here.
So we missed this one. I have seen a lot of full moons in my day, though; I enjoy walking at night.

Oh, that is so funny! A new position:
The downward cat. My pootie sleeps on her head; is she a Zen master(ess) in the making?

Hey, EC. Gonna have a
full plate for the next few weeks, so even though I'll still be able to lurk, guess I should probably issue a 'blanket thanks' for all your efforts, just in case I don't get a chance to drop by each week.
So, major kudos!
Oh, BTW, really like the colorful frame that you're using with the CC logo, and the title or heading, 'We's a diverse group!'
So apt, in so many ways.

Thank you, Mollie! I hope that's a good full plate,
not an unfortunate full plate.
I just added a rainbow frame for this diary. But maybe I'll keep it.

Duh! Guess the rainbow frame 'was' in keeping with
the essay theme.
Well, frame or no frame, I really like the CC logo. Clearly, it makes sense to change the logo frame to fit the essay topic. And variety is always a good thing!
