Canned Music: Street Prophets Thursday Coffee Hour

Welcome to Street Prophets Thursday Coffee Hour. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is new with you. First off thanks to Ojibwa for getting coverage for my Coffee Hours while I was struggling to get well. Not 100% but doing better.

The day after Thanksgiving is when the stores here start the canned Christmas music. I don't know about you but the canned stuff makes me want to leave the store and not shop. This leads into the question of Christmas Music itself. I thought today we could give our favorite Christmas songs and our least favorite.

I'll start off and you can add your choices in the comment sections. My least favorite is Rock Around the Christmas Tree. There is just something about that song that is like fingernails on a blackboard to me. I can't stand it. My favorite has always been Silent Night. I love Josh Groban's version of it.

Okay now it is your turn. What is your favorite and least favorite Christmas song. Also how about the canned music itself do you like it in the background or do you wish they would turn it off. I'd prefer silence.

should be run over by a herd of wild caribou, and absolutely trampled to death. But I never get tired of Bing Crosby dreaming of a white Christmas.

Good King Wenceslas for example, or Oh Holy Night... wonderful! Generally speaking, the newer the Christmas music is, the less I like it. And I have a hard time tolerating any music that's been canned. No music deserves to be treated that way - it's cruel and unusual punishment. You'd think all these big stores could at least pony up and hire some actual musicians, no?
