Bernie at the Democratic Convention: Let Us Not Talk Falsely Now

The lies of corporate politicians are the foundational cause of every crisis America is facing. Let us not talk falsely now is Bernie’s message to the despised political establishment, to the depraved economic establishment, to the degenerate media establishment, to the degraded military establishment, it’s his message to everyone in power, to everyone in authority at every level of society, to the police and the judges, to business owners and employers, to every American trapped in this twilight struggle for survival as the pursuit of corporate profit strangles the economy and the GOP casts the shadow of fascism across the entire political system.

Let us not talk falsely now.

Bernie has said that throughout all of his years in public service, he’s said it in the House of Representatives, he’s said it in the Senate, he said it when Glass-Steagall was being repealed, when the Patriot Act was being passed and the invasion of Iraq was being plotted and the bailout of Wall Street was being perpetrated. He’s been saying it in every primary state, and every Democratic voter, every Republican voter, every Independent voter needs to listen to him.

Why?

I’ll tell you why.

The hour is getting late.

That’s why.

The consequences of economic injustice are pounding on the doors of America, they’re pounding on the doors of Europe, they’re pounding on the doors of Asia, they’re standing on the doorstep of the world with catastrophic climate change and resource wars and genocide and famine lined up right behind them. Your name is on their list of victims, my name is on their list of victims, everyone’s name is on their list of victims.

John F. Kennedy . . .

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.

Hillary people like to talk about Reality. Well here’s some Reality for them—political revolution is the only way to prevent violent revolution, which would inevitably trigger reactionary violence and unleash the chaos and carnage of counterrevolution and civil wars across this country and across this world.

Hillary supporters are in no position to be lecturing anyone about Reality. They expect us to believe in the amazing powers of the Incremental Change Fairy, who dwells in the Magic Kingdom of Centrism, where hundreds of millions of dollars in blatant bribes have no effect on anyone at all, where Triangulation is the Only Way and politics is pay to play and the destruction of the Middle Class just happened to fall out of the sky one day.

We’re told Hillary will get things done. Well we’ve seen how Hillary gets things done, and we’ve seen who she gets things done with.

No reason to get excited, the thief he kindly spoke . . .

there are many here among us, who know Dodd-Frank is but a joke.

Bernie has been up on the Watchtower his entire life in public service, he called out a warning when the riders of NAFTA were approaching, when the riders of Glass-Steagall repeal were approaching, when the riders of the Patriot Act were approaching, when the riders of regime change in Iraq were approaching, when the riders of the Wall Street bailout were approaching, when the riders of the TPP were approaching. He called out warning after warning from up on the ramparts, while those more and better Democrats I’ve heard so much about took turns lowering the drawbridge to let the damn riders in.

Let us not talk falsely now.

The hour is getting late.

Bernie is taking that message to the contested convention in Philadelphia. The Democratic establishment needs to hear it, the delegates need to hear it, Hillary Rodham Clinton and her bought-and-paid-for superdelegates damn well need to hear it, and they’re going to hear it whether they want to or not.

Kos talks about the math.

Hillary people talk about the math.

Well THIS is the math that matters . . .

Too many lies have been told.

Too many people have been exploited.

Too many innocents have died in wars for profit.

This election can empower us to put an end to all of it.

the trade agreement from hell.
Thanks for posting this important bit of uncomfortable reality. Our planet is dieing, our people are starving for truth, and the MIC gives us circuses for entertainment, and bright shiny to distract us from truth.
We are broken, I fear, almost beyond repair. We have an uphill battle of epic proportions before us. Turn this behemoth country around, the hour is indeed late.

“Today’s alarming fourth-year trade data on President Obama’s U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) arrived just as the Obama administration has started its hard sell to pass the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). And that is a real problem for the White House” [Lori Wallach, HuffPo]. “The Korea deal served as the U.S. template for the TPP, with significant TPP text literally cut and pasted from the Korea agreement. And the Obama administration sold the Korea deal with the same “more exports, more jobs” promises now being employed to sell TPP. And since then, our trade deficit with Korea more than doubled as imports surged and exports declined. The increase in the U.S. trade deficit with Korea equates to the loss of more than 106,000 American jobs in the first four years of the Korea FTA, counting both exports and imports, according to the trade-jobs ratio that the Obama administration used to promise at least 70,000 job gains from the deal.”

One of Bernie's top media supporters, Thom Hartmann, has been consistently pushing the idea that if Bernie doesn't win the nomination, we should all shift to becoming Hillary Shills to prevent a GOP White House. I doubt Bernie would even have a campaign without Hartmann's hosting a "Brunch With Bernie" segment for several years. Now that Bernie needs what little true media support he has enjoyed more than ever, I find myself questioning how much good Hartmann now does for Bernie with his "Vote Blue Anyway" meme.

The station where I hear Hartmann's show (KPFK) is itself struggling to survive. In order to pitch fund raising, they have cut the airtime they once gave Hartmann. I thus can't hear as much as I want about Hartmann's latest developments, especially now that it's clear Hillary thinks she's won the nomination. I've written about supporting my adult relatives through Obama's "booming" economy (now faltering if the recent uptick in first time unemployment applications is accurate). I can't afford to subscribe to anyone, not just someone who isn't seeing the neocon forest for the Clinton trees.

I have scraped up another donation for Bernie, and will send it off later today. It's about all I can do. We of the working class are having to make Sophie's Choices with our dwindling spare cash.

I agree with you.

I am becoming skeptical of Hartmann because of how he clearly is supporting HRC/DNC. It's clear he wants to keep the party together. He just seems to be falling into line and it's disappointing and disheartening to me personally. His show is where I listened to Bernie for so many Fridays. Lately, Hartmann seems to be admonishing Bernie supporters. I've begun weaning myself from him more and more, although I know I'll still listen albeit on a day's delay where I am. He's keeping cred with me because he talks about climate change alot.

My hope is after the election the ruling class will hold off on more elections for a couple months so some of the left might be able to focus on something other than electing politicians.
That's my hope and I'm sticking to it. I know, impossible dreams are impossible but it's just a dream.

You would be correct if the other side of that agreement -- the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (DWS), Hillary Clinton et al., had held to their side of the bargain and permitted a fair, level-playing-field primary campaign.

They did not. The ways in which DWS biased the primary in favor of Hillary Clinton are legion to myriad, but this website is replete with documentation of the same. Ask and ye shall receive.

And their proactive refusal to do so nullified the entire bargain; Bernie has no more obligation to hold his end when the other side did not uphold theirs. Please allow me to re-emphasize: Bernie has no obligation to support Hillary Clinton. He has a greater obligation to the revolution he advanced so well in his campaign to do the contrary.

If he fails to do that, then and only then would it be considerable that he would be "just another lying politician out for personal power".

HOWEVER..., I did NOT give my word that I would not urge Bernie to run as an Independent if the DNC betrays We the (Democratic) People, nor did I indicate by word or deed that I would not urge others to join me in drafting Bernie to run as an Independent, even if over his protestations.

If that amounts to coercing an honorable man like Bernie to run for president, I'll have to plead guilty (but without any pangs of conscience since it would be for the Greater Good of all of us to have Bernie as president). I'll apologize for that in nine years after a successful eight years in office for Bernie.

If Bernie endorses Hillary, I will NOT follow blindly and vote for Hillary. Not even Bernie can get me to vote for her (or Biden, if the DNC stoops so low as to insert him at the last minute as a replacement for Hillary if she's indicted). As Bernie said in one of his interviews recently, it is up to Hillary to win over his supporters. He can't snap his fingers and expect we will follow his lead.

Fuck you, Moronic Media, for trying to put words in Bernie's mouth to force him to promise something he knows darn good and well he cannot promise on behalf of his supporters! It would destroy his credibility as the only politician who actually does his best for and on behalf of We the People. They've been trying to coerce both Bernie and Jane to declare Bernie's support for Hillary if he does not get the nomination, or give up his bid for the Democratic nominee since Bernie declared, and I'm sick of Moronic Media's manipulation on behalf of Hillary!!!

Moronic Media just wants something sensational to write about "if" the first woman, and a Clinton no one trusts at that, is elected because they smell blood and know that less than six hours after a Hillary win the Rethuglicans would be stampeding for microphones and cameras to declare they will impeach Hillary and/or investigate her life for more crimes clear back to her birth if they have to in order to oust her from office, and no one would talk about anything else for four years. That puts Moronic Media in organized cahoots with multiple corporations to keep people distracted from the passage of TPP (and world-wide fascism if it passes), TBTF banks who will continue to rob us blind, the religious right who will continue to pursue their aims to overturn Roe v Wade, the military-industrial-mercenary complex as they keep on with their "wars" against little criminal gangs in pursuit of control of oil wells in the Mideast. Et cetera.

The next five+ months will be inordinately interesting, I think. The late-night comics, Lee Camp, Samantha Bee, and John Oliver will almost certainly have enough material for some great comedy routines. If pollution or world war doesn't get us, we can laugh ourselves to death.

But regardless, I am sure when he made the agreement he probably assumed the Democratic Party would also play "Fair".

They have been anything but, so pardon my French but fuck em....

If they Nominate Hillary the Democratic Party as a whole will end up on my "Dead to me" list.

I will support individual progressives that still run under the party banner, but any loyalty I would have had to the party as a whole will be completely nullified.

There has NEVER been a candidate in my voting lifetime that has better epitomized what the Democratic Party has (claimed) to stand for and yet they solidly rejected him.

That alone shows that they really have ZERO interest in actually pursuing a progressive agenda, they have just been paying lip service for decades to woo the progressive vote.

Unfortunately for them, they accidentally showed their hand to the table, and many of us don't like the fact that it has 5 aces in it....

The most pledged delegates that is. I've been keeping my own spreadsheet to try out different primary results in the remaining states. Since I live in California, I'm mainly concerned about what results are needed in California. Right now, if Bernie got 50% of the vote in all the remaining states except for California, he would need 81% of the vote in California to win the whole thing. After each primary, I'm going to readjust the numbers to see what California results are needed assuming he gets 50% in the remaining states. Surely he will end up needing a lot less than 81% here. Even so, given that Independents can't vote in the Republican primary but can in the Democratic one and given that Trump has already won the nomination and that Hillary dislike is big here, Bernie will do well.

Beware the bullshit factories.

If Bernie gets 50% in all states except for California and got 42% in the Virgin Islands he would need to get 81% of the vote in California to win the whole thing. Too many offshore banksters live in the Virgin Islands for me to give that to Bernie.

Closing in Cali & NJ.

With news reports like the FBI interviewing Clintons aides etc., running up to the California Primary, I can see a resounding win in California. But a win in NJ is vital. My entire Westchester 4 Bernie team is already in NJ. We canvassed last Saturday and Wednesday. Our Latino Outreach team will be doing voter Reg the next 2 weekends (the deadline is May 17th). We're coordinating with south western Ct volunteers to car pool them to NJ for Canvassing.

Westchester 4 Bernie is utilizing every possible resource at its disposal to get volunteers into NJ.

[everyone has a spreadsheet] are based on a 4 point loss in NJ and 20 point loss in DC. I don't know if we can do much about DC but folks who are working NJ say that there is a solid chance of an actual [close] win there. Good. He needs to get 60% in WV, Oregon, Montana, and both Dakotas, along with a bit over 50% everywhere else. Every vote counts.

Life is strong. I'm weak, but Life is strong.

and needs a big win in California. I think progressives and Independents are going to come through for Bernie in CA and give him a YUGE win there.
