About the "Donate" button--Server fees are due

I hate to bring this up, I really do, but...

Our hosting fees are due by this Saturday 12-5-15. We are only half way to the needed goal. If you can make a contribution, please do. If you're tapped for money right now, please feel no pressure to do so. Thank you.

Could you let us know what the total fees are and what the aprox amount divided among ACTIVE members. I would like to pay my share, for sure, and perhaps the share of one other member if I can.

from Bluehost's payments page:

The total amount due is $141.63 and we are currently at $67.38.

That's just for the server fees, I'm asking nothing for the hundreds of hours I've personally invested in both developing this site and maintaining it.

I feel bad enough having to ask this way. I've made this essay sticky and it will stay at the top of the queue until we've reached our goal, at which point I'll either delete it or unsticky it. That should be sufficient.

buttons that need to be clicked. I am also of the timid people, who are scared to click on something in the expectation it would screw something up. In the old days, I learned it the hard way that you just don't go around and click on something without fearing the consequences. Smile

But I learned to use the Donate button, so ... no sweat here.

I figure if the 30 most active users of this site donate just 5 bucks apiece, we should meet our goal easy-peasy (as one of my 4-year-old friends is wont to say!)
And if you can donate for one or two others for whom $5 bucks is not that easy to spare, then please do so.

Let's get it done today so Johnny doesn't have to think about any more.

It's kind of hard to determine the amount of "active" members, but my guess would be 20-30. Thanks for helping us get this behind us.

the credit card page uses the https protocol and there is also a link to the privacy policy. I receive no personal information such as credit card number, etc.

appreciated, as are those of all the (also
unpaid) writers, especially those who
have volunteered to provide weekly
Open Threads and, of course, Joe's
nightly EB.

That's one heck of a lot of volunteer
effort!

I lurk a lot, haven't contributed much
word-wise, so the least I can do is drop
some (not-so-spare) change into this
transparent (!) effort to keep the lights
on - and thank everyone for helping save
my sanity by so freely offering up your
thoughts, speculations, and convictions.
