Camelot Was More Than A Fairy Tale

It was a vision for the future, once which would have made the entire planet a very different place today had it been realized.

WindDancer 13's post, What the Media Would Like Us to Believe, looks at just one of the false visions We the People are expected to believe, in part so that we don't upset the profitably rotten corporatist apple cart. There are many more.

One of the oldest and most false visions the world is expected to believe as presented has to do with the assassination of JFK. Many prominent people were richly rewarded for playing along with the cover-up of the true crime, including Gerald Ford and Arlen Specter. All they had to do was regurgitate the lies scripted for them when called upon to do so. After all, the American people had to be protected from the truth. The truth was that the assassination was a fascist coup. Wouldn't have been prudent to let that understanding escape!

One person bravely railing against the injustice which gained power on 11/22/63 has been Paul Craig Roberts, who was Reagan's Asst. Treasury Secretary and was a senior editor at the Wall Street Journal before Rupert Murdoch turned it into a business comic publication. He thus has some Street cred, and should at the very least be respected enough to be given a listen when he has something to say. He gets such respect mainly from EU and Asian news outlets more than he does American ones.

That said, Dr. Roberts wants you all to know that When They Killed JFK They Killed America

Kennedy intended to pull the US out of Vietnam once he was re-elected. He intended to break up the CIA “into one thousand pieces” and curtail the military-security complex that was exploiting the US budget.

And that is why he was murdered. The evil that resides in Washington does not only kill foreign leaders who try to do the right thing, but also its own.

[snip]

The coverup was necessary because America was locked into a Cold War with the Soviet Union. To put US military, CIA, and Secret Service personnel on trial for murdering the President of the United States would have shaken the confidence of the American people in their own government.

And in those corporations which stood to lose billions in profits if their elected properties lost the confidence -and control- of the voters.

I still remember how I felt that day when I heard the news. I was only 9, but I felt like the world I was growing up within had come to an end. It had, as I increasingly understood with age. There is no chance that the excesses brought forth by every president since Kennedy, Democrat or Republican, would have stood unmolested to grow and fester if the American people had confidence in their government.

I suspect we don't revisit the Kennedy Camelot years nostalgically due to the bloody way it ended. Thus, we go back to Eisenhower, who as far as I'm concerned did nothing to prevent the growth of the cancer which took John Kennedy. His warning about the MIC -as he was locking up and leaving town for the last time- does not exonerate him in my eyes. It's as if the great speech he made shortly after taking office caused those plotting against the United States to put him to sleep until it was time for him to retire to Gettysburg. It wouldn't do to have the guy who liberated Western Europe from Hitler do the same for his own homeland.

Our homeland has been betrayed for so long by our "leaders" that we no longer choose to select good people to represent us. We wonder what the point is, when it's clear that the big money takes them away from us. We no longer feel that there is any reason to participate in the political process, especially now that Princeton University researcher Martin Gilens and Northwestern University researcher Benjamin I. Page have scientifically demonstrated that We the People have no say in our governance anymore. We'd rather watch the inmates take over the asylum.

And what will the power-mad do with that control? TPP and TTIP -assuming that the EU and Asian nations don't derail the process toward global corporatist governance- will eliminate the very concept of the nation-state, and elections themselves. Corporations limit election participation to those who own shares - IF they allow voting at all.

It is my opinion that if these crimes against humanity were to become the law across the world, it would only be a matter of time before those of us without great wealth would become the property of those who do. But like all rules, there are exceptions to them. Bernie Sanders is one such exception, and the people have responded. He still has a chance to demonstrate that the Camelot of John Kennedy could become a reality. The outcome of the war against corporatism is every bit as uncertain as when Eisenhower was about to launch Operation Overlord, or whether it would be possible to achieve Kennedy's aspiration to land men on the Moon and return them to Earth safely. But in all three of these examples I present, there was enough evidence to support the idea that positive outcomes were possible if certain things went certain ways.

One way things must go correctly is to determine truth. It is the purpose of the corporate media to ensure that we don't come to understand just what a mess the world is in. It is our purpose to ensure that the lies of those who would rule us and own us go unbelieved, refuted by facts, and that those who lie come to understand that we won't allow them to succeed.

If we win, maybe we can just make Kennedy's Camelot dreams reality. Maybe then life on Earth won't be a short dystopian nightmare.

It broke my heart.
But it also got my attention. That's when I really starting to look around and see what was going on. The Warren commission showed me the fraud and lies. How could we allow them to seal away the results for 50 years? We all wanted to know what happened. What could they possibly be hiding?
And the came the draft . Arming, training, and shipping children overseas to fight and die for a country where I could not vote. Could not drink or enter a bar. Or enter in to a contract. Or even open a checking account. At 18 years old I was still considered a minor under the law. I was, essentially, an indentured servant to the military.
I became a dissident after the Chicago convention.
This government made me. And made millions more just like me. Some of those people are here, on this site and others. We are still here . And we are still pissed.

Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.
Neither Iran nor Venezuela are threatening America.
Cuba is a dead horse, stop beating it.

Amazing that since the JFK assassination America has been combat free for about ten minutes. How many "wins" has the MIC racked up since JFK? The next one will be the first.
