The Walmsly video is spot on. Our electrical grid is 2nd world. The EO drops it to 3rd world. While I regard both solar and wind power as cheap energy alternatives, I do not contend they are "green". The components are full of forever poisonous chemicals, and disposal of the blades of the wind "mill" and broken solar panels remain extremely hazardous after they are buried at the garbage pits.
The actor in the Free Bird video has this moment when he stops working and becomes free. For me, it came in stages. The day I stopped handling criminal cases. The day I stopped all family law cases. The day I stopped all probate cases. I received the closing documents to sign on the 9th and was gob smacked at how minimal the closing costs were. I was expecting thousands, but the total is less than $1300. I have spread the word through the courthouse and various government officials to send their friends and neighbors to me for deeds and wills. I already have an appointment Monday morning to draw up a woman's will. A friend at my bank is getting her stuff together to have me prepare her will.
This suits my lifestyle extremely well.

I know exactly what you mean about the crazy balancing act of work and homestead projects. One duty is to provide money, the other to provide many things, such as comfort, pride, security, and pleasure.
Our project of the day is to buy a new trap and catch the armadillo(s?) that is tearing up the yard, is it (they?) live under the house. We catch them and turn them loose in the national forest.

Retirement sounds like it is progressing nicely. Of all the things I thought I would accomplish after retirement, I only managed a few. The question we ask one another is, "How did we find time to work?"

Nothing much going on here, another Saturday, farmers' market, etc. Am topping a redbud in the back yard a bit at a time, had to lay off it laat week because my wife was away and she insists that she has to be here when I work on certain projects like that where I culd get injures. Just as well, 'cause I can get her to help, but that does mean that I have to start ack to work on it today.

States would have to re-write their statutes and rules governing what cases get 6, what cases get 12. More time, more money...

The tide began rising two months ago when the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear Kian v. Florida, a South Florida chiropractor’s challenge to the state’s use of six-person juries in noncapital cases.

Still not sure if the desire to push back is intense enough to push it into a less destructive role. The continuing problem I wrestled with while designing and implementing medication management software. I ended up just stopping in 2009.

When the company was started the intent was to improve the quality patient's lives. Early customers had the same focus. After 15 years the new and prospective customers were more interested having the software do all the "analytical analysis" for a report they or their employees could sign without having to think. Their customers and the public eagerly accept long printed reports many never read, nor have the ability to evaluate appropriateness or quality.

The only audience which seemed to understand the warning software design and implementation could take over how profession functioned with negative consequences was the Oct 2001 lecture "Using Computer Software in Pharmacy Practice" in Beijing. When I received the typical question extolling how software could replace mundane work and allow the professional more time for higher skill level activities the response was starkly different than US audiences. US audiences generally would argue there would be no negative consequences during the Q&A time. Some would extend the discussion after the presentation was completed. In China after my initial response the Q&A session evolved into identifying negative consequences and how to potentially avoid them.
