Found an interesting break down of US education motives and results. It is rather long (about 50 minutes)
and spoken by an Aussie. Dealing with the reasons for the subversive labels given against developing critical
thinking skills. Pretty heady stuff, better taken with a strong cup of java and a shot of whiskey or something.

Another wondrous Wednesday is upon us.
Shared with the writing group the story of a
trip on the tugs down to the bay of Campeche.
Taking shore leave in the Yucatan Peninsula,
experienced some fantastic things. First time
telling the vignette. Want to put some things down
before they disappear in the memory abyss.
What excites your imagination today? Listening to
geopolitical podcasts this AM. Seems like Ukraine
and Israel are getting slapped a bit harder while trumpet
fiddles in tweet land. What's next?

FISA Again...
FISA - the much abused Patriot Act vintage spying authorization is expiring
imminently and the usual forces of darkness want it re-authorized with its
abuse-enabling features intact.
Killing it altogether would be preferable, but short of that there is a bill that would stem some of the worst abuse - would require warrants by name for the surveillance of any US individual and would prohibit the purchase and use of information acquired from data brokers that the government is not authorized to collect for itself...
Some renegade R's are pushing it - reasonable shot at passage if the leadership will let it come to a vote...

Good morning...
Got back in town last night after an old band reunion...band formed 40 years ago. Good to see everyone and play old familiar tunes and songs.
Now it is back to the reality of the homestead. Still putting away things from the festival a couple of weekends ago. Still mowing to do as well. Never a dull moment.
As to eggs, what an excellent food source. We eat them almost everyday. Later this morning having ham and eggs.

in today's Guardian about the Orange Dotard spouting off on how a +Vance-Rubio ticket" would be unstoppable in 2028. Problem is, I fear he could be right and don't like that idea one bit.
1) Most usians, at heart, love hate and warfare. Hate sdamn near anybody and everybody ix days a week and go pray to Jeebus on the 7th. Got to either Fear or Need to educate tons of foreign countries also, too.
2) The GOP candidates, whomever they might be will simply have to run against the evil Democrats. They can run against many past Dems plus whomever the Dems decide to rum. So Who will that be (trick question) not just a name, but an ideology, a platform, a stance on things. The Dem themesong should, ever since LBJ, be Who Are You.
My first thought on seeing that headline was that the Dems need to decide who they are 1) as a party and 2) individually, but I think that is a hopeless challenge for them, as a party and as individuals. Candidate x is Not officially a Republican, yay x. They believe an "the big tent" and "inclusion" and are willing to talk about them forever, but talk, of course, is cheap. They also like to talk about equality and democracy, but, again, talk is cheap. Many will claim to support civil rights but will really support censorship, surveillance nad law'norder. T Many will openly support Israel uber alles and Ukraine. They will abjure and exclude pretty much anybody to the left of Mussolini while speaking of the above big tent. They will talk health care and the economy but lack any ideas on how to improve, or in the case of healthcare, create, either.
Sure glad I'm old and have, for the time being at least, Kaiser.

He’s interviewed by a computer scientist/entrepreneur, so computers are involved and (a warning if you’re an atheist) they discuss religion as well as philosophy and technology. He believes our physical world isn’t real, but consists of information rather than matter which is rendered to look real. Among wide-ranging ideas, mentions a hypnotist who took people back to just before birth. Says they (we) choose to come here and complete quests, select life options and other souls we’ll interact with, then forget all this when we’re born. A universal quest might be to learn kindness (The Golden Rule). Talks about NDE’s where people relive every moment of their lives from perspectives of how other people were impacted. Also a lot of NDE experiences describe the afterlife as much more real than the one we’re in. Gets into the “Mandela effect” where people experience different timelines. (There are a group of people who remember Mandela dying in a South African prison in the 1980’s.) Then the multiverse interpretation. Thinks it might explain the situation where the cat is both dead and alive. And so on.
