Wars Gone Wrong

Open Thread Image.jpg

Doug Macgregor described our approach to war as, "Ready, FIRE, Aim!". I think that is about right, or as my family used to say, "You've got your wagon in front of your horse". The US has no understanding of other cultures (and doesn't want it). We are arrogant about our power, which is waning fast, and to put the icing on the cake, we're incompetent. No wonder NATO is losing in Ukraine, and my bet is the US and Israel will lose a protracted war to Iran and their Russian and Chinese allies. These are all signs of end of empire, and I for one wish we would accept it and join the new cooperative win-win world order. Instead, we must prevent the rise of peer powers...how foolish.

Screenshot 2026-03-08 at 06-55-14 war in Iran at DuckDuckGo.png

I think we're witnessing the US become Israel. We are hitting hospitals, schools, and civilian targets. We plan to Gaza Iran, and we're in for a rude awakening. I think we're more likely to see larger Israel turned into Gaza. The Zionists own western media (and governments), and are controlling what we are allowed to see. There's always a fog to war, but this is outright censorship. When will the American people learn of the total destruction of our bases in the Persian Gulf? When will we see all the body bags and wounded invalids returning to the States? When will we find out the astronomical cost of this war of choice? And now we're deploying troops? Oh, the stupidity!

How did we get into this mess? Alastair provides the background...
Can Israel & the U.S. Sustain Iran's Military Power? (w/ Alastair Crooke) | The Chris Hedges Report

The Iran War has just begun — but already, Iran’s military prowess, and America’s and Israel’s impulsive imperial hubris, is on display.

Martin Armstrong: Expect 'Dragged-Out' War in Iran, Much Higher Oil Prices & $10,000 Gold
(46 min) Regarding the global monetary system, Armstrong believes significant changes are coming. He suggests that gold is increasingly being viewed as a neutral asset by countries like China, who are accumulating it as a hedge against potential conflicts. While he doesn't anticipate a traditional gold standard, he sees gold playing a crucial role in international trade settlements, potentially rising to $10,000 by 2032. Armstrong is particularly critical of current government debt strategies, predicting a potential sovereign debt crisis.
He argues that governments historically default through various mechanisms, including war, currency devaluation, or simply refusing to honor previous debt. The United States' reserve currency status, he explains, stems not just from government policy but from its robust consumer economy and deep financial markets. Looking forward, Armstrong sees continued geopolitical uncertainty, rising oil prices, and potential conflicts, particularly involving Russia and China. He warns that sanctions and current diplomatic strategies are counterproductive and that true global peace requires economic integration rather than isolation.

The U.S.-Iran War Of Attrition – A Global Depression To Counter Total Destruction
The U.S. and Israel are aiming for the total destruction of the Islamic Republic. Iran is countering by globalizing the consequences of a war in its energy rich region. It calculates that the global economy will attrit sufficiently for the U.S. to change course before Iran’s internal cohesion breaks down.
When Trump announced his attack on Iran he named several seemingly random aims that the war was supposed to achieve. It turned out that none of them was achievable.
Trump and his mouthpieces seemed to assume that the war would be short. They had hoped for some kind of Venezuelan scenario where a U.S. friendly government would take over as soon as the Supreme Leader of Iran was killed. Such a view could only be held by people who were totally ignorant of the history and social structure of the society of Iran.
Ignorance is probably the most explanatory variable in the chaos we have seen. Neither the purpose, nor the length nor the consequences of the war had been gamed out.
...It seems that the Zionist plan is to do another “Gaza” on the nation of Iran.

Pepe Escobar: Iran’s Hidden Strategy: DEATH by a THOUSAND CUTS

(66 min) Pepe tickles me calling Trump neo-Caligula.
Pepe's article...The mosaic of death by a thousand cuts
The Strait of Hormuz for all practical purposes is closed – except for Russian and Chinese vessels. At least 20% of global oil needs are not moving anywhere. Qatar’s entire LNG production is off line – with no resumption in sight. Iraq’s 2nd largest oil field has been shut down.
...
By lasering on US interests across the GCC as legitimate targets – and not only military bases – Iran set a time bomb. This is a direct attack on the petrodollar (to the silent delight of Beijing). Tehran certainly gamed that the chain reaction would be instantaneous – all the way to panic as preamble to a new, generalized Great Depression.
No oil, plus no meaningful GCC defense against Iran’s missiles/drones means no more torrents of Wall Street fake money. The AI bubble, after all, is being financed by GCC “investments”. The new Pipeineistan bombing is not of the Nord Stream kind: it’s the bombing of the GCC-petrodollar pipeline....
Worth a full read or listen.

The economics of the war and how China fits into the picture.

(about 70 min before questions) Iran war energy shock w/ Alex at Reporterfy & Cyrus Janssen on the Duran. In the first few minutes, Alex from China explains how the Iranians are attacking the Chicago commodity exchange market. Since the Iranians are already outside the USD system, collapsing the economy will be fairly painless for them as it inflects great harm to the US.

This is a mind blowing interview suggesting the Christian Zionist want this war to bring the "rapture". Col. Wilkerson ha been reporting for years of the Christian creep into the military structure.

(85 min) Jiang Xueqin: The Iran War: The Watershed Moment That Changed the Middle East Forever
Perhaps best watched in parts, but I couldn't stop. I hope Jiang is wrong, but time will tell.
He suggests this is WWIII. He describes the regional history and explains how the Gulf States are vassals of first the UK and now the US. He explains how the Kurd's and Azerbaijanis are hustlers who will promise the US invasions for money, but won't really deliver. At about 45 min he explains a possible future business model. He touches on Ukraine as well, and concludes with Plato's allegory of the cave operated by the Epstein Class.

Speaking of Epstein, many are now referring to the war 'epic fury' as 'Epstein Fury'.
The Real State of the Union: Epstein’s Shadow Network and the Illusion of American Democracy
The newly released Epstein files don’t just implicate a handful of powerful men—they expose an entire architecture of American power built on impunity, secrecy, and the quiet expectation that the rules apply only to everyone else. As Robert Scheer and Nolan Higdon dig into this week’s revelations, the picture that emerges is not simply one of individual crimes but of a political and financial aristocracy that treats the law as a suggestion, democracy as theater, and vulnerable people as expendable. From Harvard boardrooms to Clinton‑era fundraisers to Trump’s Justice Department slow‑walking disclosures, the documents reveal a culture where fixing, hiding, and protecting the powerful is the real bipartisan consensus. What’s breaking open now is not just a scandal—it’s a portrait of a system that was never meant to be fair in the first place.

Caity provides evidence of the US Christian Zionists influence in the military.
So as if we didn’t have enough problems to deal with, it turns out the world is ruled by a nuclear-armed Armageddon cult. ... Pete Hegseth who was mentioned in a recent article by Jonathan Larsen titled “U.S. Troops Were Told Iran War Is for ‘Armageddon,’ Return of Jesus”, which reports that US military commanders are telling American soldiers that they are on a mission from God to fulfill a biblical prophecy and bring about the end of the world.
“Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has enshrined evangelical Christianity at the uppermost levels of the U.S. military, airing monthly prayer meetings throughout the Pentagon,” Larsen reports, saying that “Last year, the Pentagon confirmed to me that Hegseth attends a weekly White House Bible study. It’s led by a preacher who says God commands America to support Israel.”

I always appreciate Chas Freeman's perspective

(53 min) Chas Freeman: The War With Iran Is Breaking Everything the U.S. Planned.

Jeffrey Sachs: We Are Now in the Early Days of World War III
Jeff explains how the UN is being/ has been neutered and destroyed.

(52 min) Prof. Jeffrey Sachs argues that the world may already be entering the early stages of World War III, as the rapidly escalating conflict involving Iran begins to draw in additional countries and regional actors. The initial strikes and retaliations risk triggering a wider chain reaction across the Middle East and beyond, particularly as allied militias, regional powers, and global powers become increasingly involved. The traditional mechanisms of escalation control—diplomatic restraint, clear red lines, and international mediation—appear to be breaking down, raising the danger that what began as a regional confrontation could evolve into a far broader global conflict.

Notice how Ukraine is out of the news? There's a reason, and it isn't just the bigger Iranian war, but the fact it is losing...never pleasant news for the neocon, globalists, Epstein class.
Frontline report from March 5th.

Zelensky PANIC. Weapons, money and MEDIA attention go to Middle East

(20 min)

In Ukraine, Zelensky has announced that elections will be held only when the war with Iran has finished: not during his mythical ‘ceasefire’ (which the Russians will never agree to). The once great Z is worried that the war in Iran/Israel will deprive him of valuable and valued Patriot interceptors. Having survived the winter amid energy shortages, Ukrainians now face a huge increase in oil/gasoline prices due to the war in Iran. Many Ukrainian refugees in the US are living in fear of deportation, according to this. And according to a sociological survey, 36% of Ukrainians abroad will not be returning home. Those in Poland may struggle because their benefits have been reduced.
On the fronts in Ukraine much is the same as it was last week though it appears that there are fewer attacks on Ukraine’s electricity grid.
Mad Merz, in a bout of defiance, has announced that the Europeans will not accept any deal in Ukraine that is negotiated in their absence. Merz, espousing the law of the jungle, also claimed that Iran does not deserve to be protected by international law. Well - we all know that international law no longer exists for Westerners but this is worrying coming from someone accused of Nazi sympathies. The Europeans are also demanding that they be allowed to inspect the damaged Druzhba pipeline. Slovakia has cut off emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine in retaliation for the Ukrainian interruption of oil supplies through Druzhba. Indeed, Orban has said that he will break through to the Druzhba pipeline by force to free the oil. In retaliation Zelensky threatened Hungary and Viktor Orban personally.

I guess we better end with some laughs?
I think this war spells the end of the Trump presidency. Jimmy Dore put together a great comparison of Trump on the campaign trail and Trump now.

(10 min) The Internet, as they say, never forgets, which is why clips have been going viral showing Donald Trump, JD Vance, and Tulsi Gabbard in past years passionately arguing against endless wars, nation-building, and military confrontation with Iran, with Trump also repeatedly predicting Barack Obama would start a war with Iran to secure his reelection. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger contrast these past statements with the current administration's actions, including bombing Iran and escalating Middle East tensions, labeling the Trump campaign the "biggest fraudulent presidential campaign in history" for promising peace but delivering the opposite.
Jimmy suggests that figures like Vance and Gabbard have flipped their positions due to outside control or programming, and he echoes the sentiment that U.S. foreign policy is being directed by Israeli interests that put the American people at a far distant second place, if that. The commentary concludes by framing these contradictions as deliberate destruction ("accelerationism") rather than incompetence.

...and a final comedy routine for your enjoyment.
Over and over again, my friends, as St. George recounts from 1992...

(7 min) Comedy legend George Carlin takes issue with the American penchant for war. He picks apart the Gulf War of the early 1990s, from U.S. leadership to the choice of targets for American aggression.
Full show here.
What a gifted comedian.

The global system is being rearranged like it or not. I'm hopeful the Epstein class will lose control, but not certain that global group can be dislodged from pulling the levers of control. No matter my friends we're in for a wild ride, and we will feel these wars here at home in our pocketbook, if not from our own lawfare system. Stock up the best you can, and we'll ride out the storm.

All the best to us all. I look forward to your thoughts on these times of change. Unfortunately, it is the day to change time to daylight savings. Another example of why we're not democracy. Much like the number of US citizens opposed to the Iran war, 80% or so us don't want the change the time twice a year. TPTB don't care about what we think. Democracy is an illusion.
Well, as OTC says, "Let her rip!"

In the good news department (we can use more of that),
China has once again proven their vision of global improvement.

Cuba To Install 5,000 Solar Panels Donated By China

"Hangzhou Duojia Technology, which sources solar technology from China for small-scale
commercial projects of up to 20 kilowatts in Cuba, had 10 containers of solar panels and lithium batteries
on their way from China."

This follows an initiative which is to build a hundred solar parks with a total installed capacity of
2,000 megawatts (MW). So far, half of these facilities have already come into operation.

Cuba-will-install-5-thousand-solar-panels-donated-by-China.jpg

"Just over half of the two-kilowatt panels will go to maternity homes, nursing homes, senior centers, emergency rooms, funeral homes, banks, municipal radio stations, radio transmitters, internet communications facilities and the commercial offices of the Electric Union, the state-run electric company. The rest will be installed in “isolated” homes, some of which have never had electricity."

When I saw that info, my question was what about batteries? I've got some portable solar, but key to its use is a battery system (especially at night), and batteries are the bigger cost.

I hope Cuba can hang on despite our wish otherwise.

Thanks again for the good news!

But generally I feel that he is correct to assume that we are in World War III right now. We are going to see ground troops.

On Facebook, the censorship laid upon me has been greatly amplified. Nut I am allowed to see a few things, including the post of a Trumpy friend, who argues a post of Jeff Roush, that:

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Here’s What I DON’T Like About President Trump
And Why I Still Voted For Him 3 Times.
Let me be very transparent, because some of y’all genuinely think Trump supporters believe this man is perfect… and that he can do no wrong and that his supporters are in some sort of “cult.”
We don’t… he can… we aren’t..
Some of us are just willing to admit something mature:
You can support a President’s policies and leadership… without liking every part of their personality…
So here it is…
My personal list of things I highly dislike about Donald Trump…
THINGS I DON’T LIKE ABOUT TRUMP…YES, REALLY.
1. I hate how he uses social media sometimes.
I’m sorry… but the all caps, the impulsive posting, the unnecessary jabs… it gives “16-year-old with impulsive energy.
And I wish he would learn this one simple skill:
Sometimes the best move is to shut up..
Not everything needs to be said.
Not every fire needs fuel..
He could calm situations down instantly… if he stopped feeding the outrage machine.
2. I don’t like the cockiness…
The “no one’s ever done it before.”
“Only I can do it.”
“Nobody knew this until I said it.”
It gets annoying. And trust me… it annoys MANY of us who support him too. I personally prefer facts over flexing.
Tell me what’s being done.
Tell me what’s coming.
But the self-praise? I can do without it.
3. I can’t stand when he talks badly about people…
Even when I agree with his criticism.
Even when he’s right.
I don’t like how long he drags it out.
Call out what needs to be called out.
But then MOVE ON.
Now… with that said…
HERE’S WHY I STILL SUPPORT HIM (AND I’M NOT ASHAMED)
1. He’s real. Not rehearsed.
Most politicians are polished and “presidential”…
And it sounds nice…
But it’s usually fake.
Trump is raw.
Blunt.
Imperfect.
But I believe him when he speaks..
He doesn’t read from a script written by donors and PR teams..
And in a world full of performance politicians…
That honesty is refreshing.
2. He answers questions and doesn’t hide.
He doesn’t dodge the press.
He doesn’t disappear for days.
He doesn’t need a teleprompter to breathe.
Even when reporters frame questions to trap him… he still answers.
Sometimes he’s aggressive, sure…
But honestly, I’d get frustrated too if people weren’t asking questions for the truth.
and only asking questions to create the next headline.
3. He does what he says he’s going to do.
THIS is why millions still support him.
He’s one of the rare politicians who actually follows through.
Most candidates campaign on big promises.
Then magically “can’t” deliver once they get in office.
Trump delivers on what he ran on more consistently than any president I’ve seen in my lifetime.
And that earns respect …even from people who don’t like him personally.
4. He puts America first. Period.
You can hate his style…but the results speak.
He fights for:
our borders,
our economy,
our energy,
our sovereignty,
our safety.
He doesn’t bend to global pressure.
He doesn’t apologize for America.
He expects other countries to respect us again.
And Americans are allowed to want that.
I don’t support Trump because I think he’s perfect…
I support him because I agree with his mission:
America should protect its citizens, enforce its laws, and stop being run by weak, corrupt career politicians who put everyone else first…
You can disagree.
But stop pretending the only reason people support Trump is because they’re brainwashed.
Some of us simply looked at the outcomes…
and chose the leader who fights for our country.
Faith. Family. Freedom.
Love him or hate him, it's your choice ... but he gets the job done unlike anyone before him.

The problem is, of course, that if Trump "gets the job done," the rest of the country, outside of the Trumpies, is going to ask, about six months down the road: "what is the job?" Because if the job is to "destroy America and blame the 'woke' people," then, yes, Trump gets the job done.

@Lookout "why is this war still going on" w/ respect to Ukraine, and "why is this war happening" w/ respect to Iran. He settles upon a religious explanation: they want to destroy the world because then (they think) Jesus will return.

I have to wonder, though, about the extent to which the real religion is money. Most everyone on planet Earth has been trained to spend their adult lives chasing the stuff. So it's easy for me to imagine a sociology in which it's the power of money that keeps us in World War III, and the rest of it is stuff to fool the rubes. So I'm doubly an apostate.

And this matter of whether or not America is in this war to win or lose? Maybe America is in this war to solve a problem of office politics. Miriam Adelson wants a war, and she won't shut up about it, so we get a war.

There is one (1) plot development of any importance in history. It is what McNeill and Engelke called the "Great Acceleration," and it continues to this day. It can't go on forever, not like this.

...drives me crazy. Mythology is driving the world? Maybe so, but that sure seems shallow. God is money makes a lot more sense as you suggest. The part of Jiang's philosophy that gets to me is his suggestion it is the Epstein class driving it all by running the shadow puppets that are all we see. Now that rings true to me. YMMV.

We are all victims of a great deception. Jiang suggests the US intends to lose the war, leave, and bring the rapture. I live in the south and know people who believe this mythology... they BELIEVE and that's a powerful force. We will see what we will see.

I think we'll have our ass handed to us and leave with our tails between our legs...think VN, Afghan, Libya, Syria, Iraq, et.al.

Sad what we as a nation have become, we've even lost our ambitions. We started with slavery and genocide and we have not changed.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment.
