This season's political kabuki theater is a farce. If peace was the goal, the wars in Ukraine and Gaza would be over. Simply stop giving them arms and intel...it is that simple. But that doesn't play well to those eager for political intrigue. So war continues, death continues, and profit accrues. Follow the money to understand US aggression. More below the fold...
In my youth I read White's The Once and Future King. The abiding theme was, does might make right? What we hear in the US is Peace through Strength. Isn't that really the same thing as might makes right? Peace comes from cooperation and communication, not bullying with sanctions and threats like our typical diplomatic approach. Peace remains elusive...on purpose.
We understand the Western colonial / imperialistic approach... and so does much of the world.

I think the timing was purposeful in order to scuttle the peace talks in Turkey. From all I heard this week, it looks like MI6 took the lead with help from the CIA. Did Trump know? No matter, I think he is correct to deny involvement.

These losses, as painful as they may be, simply will not affect further strikes by Russian aero-spatial forces.

I have heard from several Russian folks, as well as Pepe Escobar, that the anger towards Ukraine is widespread and that the overwhelming majority of Russian citizens are clamoring for a tough, devastating response. Putin and his generals are paying attention to the public sentiment and are now engaged in meticulous planning for launching massive strikes on Ukrainian assets implicated in these attacks. Putin made that point clearly and strongly to Donald Trump during their conversation on Wednesday. While Russia is not likely to strike outside the territorial boundaries of Ukraine, it will hit sites linked to foreign interests, which is likely to include British targets, still operating in Ukraine.

A video from Kiev shows a Patriot battery launching at least four missiles in a failed attempt to intercept an Iskander missile. It appears that multiple Russian missiles exploded near the site of the Patriot battery. While these strikes represent a surge compared to the previous days, this is not the retaliation that Putin informed Trump was coming. The big strike is still in the planning process.

To my mind, we are our own worst enemy...
Our government doesn't work for us, but for the oligarchs. We all know this, but pretend we have some sort of a demockrazy. The two parties are used to pit us against one another, though we have far more in common than we have differences. It think it is purposeful.
At my recent old band reunion, TDS reigned supreme. I asked them do any of you really think the president is in charge and running the gov't. None of them did, but went back to their Trump bashing. This is a psyop to divide us. As I began this column, politics is a kabuki theater designed to make us feel we have a voice.

Is a Civil War where the people go home and get their guns and ammo... And then come back to town and start killing the people they disagree with? Aiming at anyone who supports the wrong side?
In the era of protest signs, bumper stickers, and lawn signs — it's pretty easy to figure out who to shoot in a "civilian" war.
Of course, when the fighting spreads beyond your local neighborhood, you might have to wait around until everyone gets official uniforms, so you don't shoot the wrong people.
Some people might say "Civil War" when they are actually envisioning a "Revolutionary War" against the government. That's when the people get their guns and shoot at military tanks rolling down the street, or at armored government vehicles on the road. They would also be shooting at any drones overhead that are dropping bombs on civilians.
I suppose some people imagine they need to shoot BOTH neighbors with the wrong signs supporting the wrong policies AND government law enforcement officials.
One of these violent domestic wars seems to be in the back of everyone's mind. It eventually pops out in these discussions.
I, myself, find it impossible to imagine any such confrontation — but that's because I already know how it ends.
I do firmly believe, however, there is nothing that people in the US can do to escape the Karma that they face for the monsters they voted for, and for the global atrocities they have funded. I hope I'm wrong for once.

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term:
"Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Support your answer with a proof."
Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle’s Law (gas cools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:
First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So, we need to know the rate that souls are moving into Hell and the rate they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let’s look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle’s Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand as souls are added. If we accept the postulate given to me by Ms. Therese Banyan during my Freshman year that "It will be a cold night in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then (2) cannot be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic.

I just read it and recommend reading it on the anniversary of Israel attacking the USS Liberty. It ties in Johnson and Angelton being behind the Kennedy assassination and Israel’s first move to conquer Palestine and create the greater Israel. It’s obvious that both men committed high treason as well as others. McCain Sr. helped cover up the attack as did his horribly rotten son John who also covered up the many Americans soldiers that were left behind in Vietnam. Can Trump stand up to the neo-cons
I don't think so.
The neocons got rid of the INF treaty; this asymmetric attack on Russian strategic air bases is designed to get rid of the new START treaty. Neo-cons feel that the new START treaty places them at a disadvantage because China is increasing it's strategic nuclear weapons inventory, and the US is not in a position to respond because of the new START treaty with the Russians which will expire in Jan 26. The objective is to make it impossible to negotiate another extension. Apparently, the possibilities are unlimited for the neo-cons. They can then spend infinite amounts of money on the delusional golden dome (oh it's golden all right) and more monies on land based ICBMs, in addition building new SSBNs. $$$$$$ Compared to this money, nothing else is as important. It's the perverted DC blob cost benefit calculation.
As for the Iran situation, the blob posture toward Iran has been the same since the Shah fell with few deviations. The Anglo-American axis neo-con position on this has been consistent since the overthrow of Mossadegh. All else is deception.
Another point which comes to mind is the misuse of the description "terrorist operation" with respect to spiderweb. These operations are sabotage operations behind enemy lines. The targets are military targets. "Lines of communication" like bridges, tunnels, rail yards, ports, airports, fuel depots, pipe lines, etc., are military targets. The sabotage operations are asymmetric, difficult to defend against, and may be viewed as having psychological and political objectives, but calling them terrorism is somewhat misleading. In a tactical dimension they may be regarded as misdirected or ineffective, but since they are guided by the west the goal isn't Ukrainian victory but something else entirely. At best, you could characterize sabotage as a war crime in particular instances if it appeared from the factual circumstances that there was a intent to inflict undue civilian casualties.
I don't think Mearsheimer has an "extraordinary understanding" of Chinese national security issues. The US objective is world hegemony, including hegemony in East Asia. Claiming it's not world hegemony the US seeks but denial of regional hegemony in East Asia to China is sophism. It's an obsolete policy not consistent with current the current reality of a multipolar world. The Judge I think exposes the weakness in Mearsheimer's view with his questions. Mearsheimer counterattacks. We didn't contain the Soviet Union in Europe, we ceded Eastern Europe and then resorted to a cold war. The USSR having adopted a world spanning military posture, overextended itself, and collapsed from within. This at a time when the US was at the peak of its power in relative terms.
The Chinese want US troops out of their territory, and their internal affairs, not "East Asia." Meirsheimer says "it doesn't matter what the American public wants." I think this is naive. It does matter otherwise the US wouldn't be committed to proxy wars and covert regime change operations virtually everywhere. Who is going to sign up to fight China in a war? Not many. This is why the risk is that the US would go nuclear relatively early in a direct armed conflict with China.
This is where the escalate to deescalate nuclear theory comes from. Without resort to nuclear weapons there is no plausible scenario in which the US prevails in a war with China. I guess the US forgets the Korean and Vietnam Wars. The US military have delusions of island hopping, sinking Chinese shipping at will, and standoff bombardment of Chinese coastal regions with impunity and no commensurate Chinese military response. Lyle Goldstein says the Chinese military analysts he has talked to says the Chinese nuclear weapons buildup is a direct response to the implicit US nuclear war threat. You'd think this would result in some restraint or tact in US public statements and diplomacy. But Hegseth worships at the "war fighter" altar.
Mearsheimer says Hegseth is not trying to start a war, it's just a containment policy. It's the "strangle China" policy. So all those nations in East Asia are supposed to ally with the US Indo-Pacific objectives and undertake greater defense burdens on behalf of the US against their largest trading partner. LOL. I think I've listened to three different geo-political analysts in the last week saying ASEAN isn't going to do this, it just isn't going to happen. It's a fool's errand. What does the US offer beside the possibilities of loss of trade and threats of war? The US has abandoned the ideas of cooperation with China and substantial diplomacy to meet the international challenges of war and peace, proliferation, and climate change.
Basically, it's Japan, Australia, the Philippines and NATO (on the other side of the globe) that are "committed" to the US policy. Taiwan gets to play the role of Ukraine. Meanwhile, it's reported that the US has at least 500 troops in Taiwan, salami slicing China's red line. Some of these have been reported to be in Kinmen just a few kilometers from Xiamen, a major Chinese port city. This is a 1950s vintage strategy. Times have changed since then which some refuse to recognize. I think Mearsheimer is ignoring this unnecessary provocation and the historic role Taiwan has played for Japan and the west in meddling in internal Chinese affairs. It's not like there isn't a record on this.
