Why We War
Lee Camp recently wrote an article about what makes the US fight wars. He talks about recent wars, and I think his idea, that money and fiscal control of the world is the reason behind most wars, is spot on. Other countries have controlled the world with their currency in the past and the USA has done so since around 1944, when the US dollar became the world's anchor currency.
PetroDollar in Person! (from Lee Camp's article linked above)
Because the dollar is now, worldwide, the Petrodollar (which basically happened in 1974), there's no way that the USA is gonna give up petroleum. So much for the climate! And our enemies are always those who are against the petrodollar, for whatever reason. Here's Lee on this:
Foreign governments must hold U.S. dollars and therefore they essentially all help fund U.S. war-making insanity. Isn’t that kinda sweet? Most of the world comes together to fund the destruction of most of the world.
So, in order to see how influential the petrodollar is, just ask yourself why any U.S. foreign policy decisions were made. For example, why does the U.S. have an obsession, a particularly strong hatred for certain countries — invading them, coup’ing them, sending CNN’s Clarissa Ward there.
It’s because those countries are the ones that threaten the F$CKING PETRODOLLAR! The top threats to it are nations that have a lot of oil and want to sell it outside the U.S. dollar. So which countries would those be?
The biggest ones used to be Iraq, Syria, Libya, Iran, Venezuela, and Russia. Does it sound like the US has traditionally had problems with those countries? Have we invaded, bombed, sanctioned, and proxy-war’ed those countries?
Lee has more to say on all of this, including how Israel is a US bastion which is why our government completely supports Israel's wars, and his article is good. I suggest reading it when/if you can.
Ok, here's the open thread! What's up, whatcha doing? Reading? Thinking? Remember, everything is interesting if you dive deep enough, so tell us about where you're diving!

Happy Thursday!
Hello everyone! Weather is warming up (for here) and we are gonna hit the 80's soon, maybe. It's nice outside. The frogs are singing like mad during the night. Nikko has recovered from his neutering quickly, and so there is playing outside
Hope all is well with everyone. What's up? Whatcha learning?

Camp
Worthwhile and very understandable article.
I am passing it on.
Thanks for passing it on...
I like to get these good articles out so others can read them. Thank you for helping with that!

Good afternoon, Sima!
Money is behind all wars. And in our case, the control of the world's economy is the dollar, which is dependent on the petrodollar.
The US will go to unhinged extremes against BRICS.
Basing the world's greatest asset, oil, to support our empire shows how little TPTB are supportive of basic climate change initiatives.
I must prepare a pleading to inform the judge opposing attorney doesn't know what she is doing. Fun times! A wonderful way to pass the time today!
I have always thought Lee Camp was funny, so thanks for the OT today, chica!

Unhinged Extremes..
That's exactly right. I'm getting pretty scared of 'us' using the 'bomb' against, ohh, whoever. I think as soon as the likes of Musk, or whichever super billion/trillionaire is his replacement, finds a place to live off the planet, the rest of us are doomed.
And dang, it's beautiful where I live today. How can anyone want to destroy it? Sheez!!
Hope the prep of the pleading goes well and is quick and easy. And I hope the judge pays attention! Have a good weekend, my friend

Lee is right
...on this, the connection between oil, the reserve currency, and financing the military operations worldwide.
Breaking points had a good segment on how the Trump administration approach to tariffs and sanctions is basically blowing up our trade relations.
I've watched a few hours of KJ Noh interviews as he makes the rounds discussing either or both the Hegseth threats against China, and the potential strategic significance of the recent South Korean presidential election. Rachel has the shortest interview at 30 minutes which primarily focuses on the rising tension between the US and China.
I know people might not have time for these, but if you do... A longer interview of KJ by Jeff Rich on Burning Archive which is more comprehensive or in depth, because of Rich's interest in the historical background of the current Chinese and Korea situations. Rachel's interview above hits all the main points.

Thanks for the OT Sima!

Thanks for these, as usual, I'm learning a lot!

Stock up
The whole world is watching this. I am hoping they feel sorry for us, the people here who have nothing to do with this idiocy.

Musk Bombs Trump...
Really made me laugh. Heh. As for America going bankrupt, I don't disagree, but did Musk do ANYTHING about where the vast majority of American taxes go? The military and war? NO. Of course not.

whats it good for?
those endless wars have huge domestic advantages.
Like a boot on everyones neck, the information lockdown, propaganda generation, relentless shock and awe media programming, the stress and horror, curbs dissent never mind organizing solidified response in a society
riven with falsehoods and deceptions from stem to stern.
Much neater than dispatching the National Guard every weekend.
a bargain, really.
In an entirely unsatisfying
answer to the initial question: we war, because we as a society do not know how not to.

Good afternoon Sima, nice article by Camp. I just might
send a link to a few who might not be hep to it yet. Meanwhile, back to basics temps mostly vary throughout the day-nite from upper seventies to mid fifties and our yard is full of birds all day and mammals all night.
