You've got post-mortem now complaining of the Dems' campaign

All kinds of things -- most specifically telling the Muslims to go away:

Genocide. Running with Liz Cheney. Not appealing to young men. Empty promises. Sending Bill Clinton to Michigan to insult Muslims, and sending out Barack Obama to insult Black males. No serious promises, no serious interviews, running Joe Biden until it was too late for anyone to challenge him and then swapping him out for an unpopular VP. Sure.

(And here one remembers the cherry-picked stats whereby the Dems claimed the economy was good while they were the ones that made it bad. Kudos to Stephen Semler.)

Did any of the intellectuals of the obvious who noticed this stuff, Bernie Sanders et al., consider that there is no point in complaining about the Democratic Party? They do not do dialogue. They do not listen: see e.g. Cenk Uygur. The whole routine with Jaime Harrison and the DNC telling RFK Junior to go away last year should have taught you that. The Democrats present you with candidates and an agenda, and you are granted two choices: 1) accept, or 2) reject. They do what they do; you do what you do. Why would they need you? They have money. They have their scary fairy tales about Donald Trump, which you believe. They don't need you.

So, yeah, just stop. Please stop. For the most part you had three types of voter in this election. 1) The Vote Blue No Matter Who, living in a prison of their own device:

2) The traditional red state voter: they like God, guts, guns, and Trump. I don't know if this type needs further explanation.

3) The swing voter: they're persuaded mostly by a) is the economy good, and b) are there other big things which stick out (in this case, genocide).

So Type Three voted for Trump this time around, and this explains why Harris didn't win any swing states. The Muslims of Dearborn, Michigan voted for Trump to punish Harris, as the Harris campaign spent seven figures trying to destroy Jill Stein. And that's all that happened.

As I pointed out fourteen months ago: if the people who fed the Trump-phobes their talking points were really as afraid of Trump as the Trump-phobes were themselves, they wouldn't be running Joe Biden/ Kamala Harris against him in the first place. But they didn't, so, no, they're not afraid of Trump. They do what they do to preserve their careers, and not for any reason one might reasonably count as political. The real question is about the rank-and-file Democrats. Why do they bother? Their party exists to lie to them, which is what they do, over and over again, with media stenographers of power in tow. They lied to you about Russiagate, they're still lying to you about the economy, and they change their lies about Ukraine with great regularity.

Apparently Jill Stein is in conference, these days, with Kshama Sawant about building a new party. Question: why should anyone, ANYONE, wait for those two to organize said party before acting? We are not going to "defend democracy" by voting with a party which has rigged its last three Presidential primaries.

I used to organize little kids to play a game called Blob. That was back in the day before online gaming, so Blob is something you play on a big grassy playground. You can find its description in The New Games Book, first published in 1976. Blob is like tag, except that when the person who is "it" touches you, you hold hands with that person, and then go after the other people in the game, until they too are tagged. The game ends when everyone is holding hands with someone else.

It's past time for America to organize its own game of Blob, without the permission of Democratic or Republican Parties.

For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: he hath no standing grain; the blade shall yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.

From Hosea, I forgot the exact chapter and verse.

Democrats reaped the whirlwind. As for RFK, I had hoped to vote for him. He is, unfortunately a better lawyer than politician. Which is why Trump, or rather, Trump's backers, are dangling cabinet post! czar in charge of FDA! in front of him. Not because they actually intend to honor any promise he might been made, but because they do not want his very successful law firm bringing anymore suits against Big Food. The Monsanto trials Are. Not. Going. To. Be. Allowed To. Happen. Again.

That is one faction which is important in one state. This why abandoning Howard Dean's 50 state strategy was so unforgivably stupid. Of course they are in conference with Stein. They want that 50 states ballot access. RIP, Green Party.

....the two party system is an unstable outlier that defies the laws of physics. Like a two-legged stool that cannot stand naturally — two-party governments require a lot of artificial "propping up" — which leads to chronic corruption or croneyism.

The places in the world where you will find these primitive, propped-up, two-party governments are on small isolated islands around Africa, the Caribbean, and near the nuclear-testing zones of the South Pacific. Some of these Islands are popular domiciles for exiled oligarchs and stand-alone banks. There are also a few failed states with two-party governments located in the undeveloped regions of the world. Thery often have retired military or mafia-type leaders, with names like 'Baby Doc.'

The sterilizing lack of diversity in a two party nation leads to socially-paralyzing polarity, xenophobia, and eventual extinction.

And then, you have the United States.

The simplest answer is always a great place to look for enlightenment.

IMAGINE if you woke up the day after a US Presidential Election and headlines around the the world blared, "The Majority of Americans Refused to Vote in US Presidential Election! What Does this Mean?"
Cassiodorus's picture

@Pluto's Republic You may remember that the Soviet Union passed a constitution in 1936 that granted the Soviet public all sorts of rights. The problem, of course, was that real power in the Soviet Union was exercised through the Communist Party, which was headed by Stalin.

So that's a one-party system for you.

The Democratic Party of today thinks it runs a one-party system. The leadership thinks it can do anything it wants, and the rank-and-file has to suck it up because what are they going to do, vote for Republicans?

Well, this year, like in 2016, they voted for Republicans.

'For the liberal progressives: if you're upset about an election loss but not a genocide, you need to check your beliefs'

"The message asked if I was feeling okay [about Trump] coming back to office," she said.

For many Muslims and Arab Americans, the war on Gaza has dramatically changed the way the community relates to the US political system.

And recent revelations that a prominent pro-Palestine grassroots group received more than $400,000 from a Democratic-aligned PAC that explicitly prevents beneficiaries from endorsing a candidate other than Harris, has further demoralised the community's trust in the electoral system and those within it.

For many others, who like Haider find themselves at odds with the liberal establishment on matters of the economy, foreign policy or immigration, the war has only solidified their views that both parties are not moved by Palestinian suffering.

According to data, tens of thousands of Muslims and Arab American voters actively voted against Harris via a third party or for Trump. Others simply didn't think their vote even mattered.

In Haider's case, she didn't think the bus trip to the polling station was worth the hassle.

"I had no interest in taking part in the circus," she said, noting that several friends in her circle, some of whom had taken part in the pro-Palestine encampments during the spring, had boycotted the vote, too.

At more than 100 colleges and universities, including Ivy Leagues, students who took action in demanding their institutions disclose and divest from weapons companies or from the Israeli state found themselves accused of antisemitism, harassed by administrators and slapped with suspensions. (And beaten and arrested by cops that many dem governors sent to quell the protests.-sd)

Academics, too, who dared to speak out about Gaza were ceremoniously flung out the door, suspended or even fired from higher institutions of learning. It has also incensed Black Americans, too.

The Biden-Harris administration framed these pro-Palestinian protests as antisemitic, and released a strategy in May to quell these protests.

Students also saw how easily their campuses became extensions of the US and Israeli military state.

For many, the coming war on civil liberties and authoritarianism liberals say Trump will bring to the US on his return to the White House is already here.

"Liberals are losing their minds and blaming Muslim, Arab, and anti-genocide voters for the outcome. They refuse to take the responsibility. They have shown us who they really care about. And it’s not their constituents," Mariam Abu Tarboush, with American Muslims for Palestine (AMP-Detroit), told MEE.

"All Kamala had to do was pick up the phone and stop Israel from continuing its genocide against the Palestinians, and she would have won. Ronald Regan did it. Instead of trying to win the Muslim/Arab vote she remained staunch in her support of white supremacy, apartheid, and genocide," Abu Tarboush said.

"They made their bed, now it’s time for them to lie in it. Maybe next time they will take us seriously," Abu Tarboush added.
(Lay down with dawgs and you get fleas. -sd)

Nasser from Union, New Jersey, who previously told MEE that more than 150 members of his family were killed in Gaza, said he was shocked by the way people are responding to Trump's re-election.

Nasser, who asked to be identified by his first name only, said that Americans "were worried about protecting their democracy and freedoms" while his family in Gaza - including women and children - were being exterminated with American blessings.

Since he last spoke to MEE, a further five members of his family, located at the Jabalia refugee camp, were killed by Israeli strikes. These fatalities included two children, aged eight and 12. Earlier in October, his cousin's daughter, a 26-year-old nurse, became the sixth family member to be picked up by the Israeli army and taken prisoner. They haven't heard from her since.

"This is a genocide and nothing less than a genocide. And these people are giving them the green light to do it," Nasser said.

But most organisers and activists tend to agree that any analysis that considers the administration's failure on Gaza, the rising cost of living, and Harris's overall inability to inspire any confidence to Americans, wouldn't be far off the mark.

Voters also pointed to how it took Harris months in order to be prepared to do an interview with the media. And when she finally did, and when voters searched for a sign she would address questions irking the American electorate, she struggled to provide any answers.

Haider agrees. She says that if liberals see this as the end of American democracy and want to mourn it, that's their perogrative.

"But is not an equivalent tragedy to what has happened in Palestine," Haider said.

But shitlibs still insist that Kamala lost because of misogyny and racism…not Palestine or the effing economy.

Maybe instead telling people who had family being killed in Gaza that she was speaking she should have sat down with them and listened to them.

Ahh well, Sam doesn’t have an ounce of pity for the Kam. She says that she got what she deserved. I gotta smart dawg.

So they endorsed Harris, Harris lost, and now they have a wad of cash to spend on lawyers to sue the Zionist billionaires.

I posted a greyzone video of this guy talking with Aaron and Max that’s worth watching.

Of course this shitlib restricted the replies.

Guess this shitlib missed the fact that Trump isn’t president?

Fuck Gaza at this point! And I mean that from the bottom of my ass! They at harris rally screaming every time she speak and never at a
trump rally! Good! Let Israel run wild on them.
I'm done! Fuck allyship.

@snoopydawg -- how they all want to play these perverse emotional games rather than, you know, quitting the Democrats and trying to build something new. Nick Cruse covers it at the beginning of this video:

I mean, it's not as if Harris actually stood for anything, which is why the billionaires were all cutting her checks.

So what's the market for Trump Derangement Syndrome therapy look like?

One doc has been telling us what he has been seeing in his office since Kamala lost and lots of people are losing their minds. I’m sad that people get so wrapped up in politics that they risk their mental health.

I fell down the fear propaganda rabbit hole during Bush, but I climbed back up when Obama continued doing what Bush did and the media didn’t report on it…that’s why I hold Rachel in such contempt. She’s making people mentally ill for the money.

Perhaps we could get the State of California to require MSNBC to attach health warnings to their broadcasts?

Someday a movie will be made about this historically-bad bout of decisionmaking. It will be titled "The Triumph of Ego." From HOT SPOT over on Twitter/X:
