NASA Astronauts?
The ever changing narrative.
I'm noticing a subtle divorcing of the Boeing name on the MSM with this debacle on the stranded Starliner crew.
Twice I've seen them referred to as NASA astronauts in the little time I watch their news.
Now their reporting that SpaceX will rescue them.......next year.
The thought that Russia could do it much sooner is just a docking too far. Oh the humiliation!
I wonder how much Elon is going to charge Boeing for the rescue? Or will Boeing pull in some markers and slip the bill to the taxpayers under the congressional table?
As much as the rescue expense might be, I wonder more if those two employees are getting time and a half or double time.
And another thing, will they lose their paid vacation time if they don't take it by years end?
Or maybe they're non-union.
Anyway, I like the Gilligan's Island meme of going on an 8 day cruise an getting stranded on a lonely island in space.
Which one is Gilligan?
I hope them all well, but this should be it for Boeing. None of their craft are safe.
Good thing they don't make submarines.
I poke them because humiliation is the only way to induce change in these corporate behemoths.
They are like dinosaurs, really slow in changing direction.
And I'm still pissed with them moving their headquarters from Seattle.
Thread is open, what's on your mind?

Leaving for the farm
this morning. Gotta harvest and get ready for Labor Day weekend family campout.
Responses may be a little spotty but I'll be here all day.
Anybody hear anymore news on the Burning Man death?

Another word salad
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
Good morning, e1!
No new details about the woman who died at The Burning Man event so far this morning.
Imagine learning you will unexpectedly be inside a space capsule for years? What do they eat? What if they become ill? Did they have spouses and children? What if some other system in the capsule falls apart?
Boeing is such a failure. I would never board a Boeing. Or travel in space.
Airlines are supposedly going to extremes to maximize profits. They are putting into place a 1-pilot protocol. Hope your pilot doesn't have a sudden seizure or heart attack, or that some passenger can fly a plane.
I do not miss airports and flights, but do miss the adventures travel presented.
Thanks for the OT, friend!

SpaceX has scrubbed a fight due to.......
a helium leak!
Just cannot make this s(*t up.
I'm not sure if this was a resupply mission or not.
They may have to crawl to Putin on bended knee yet.
Would that be one for the ages...the Ukraine and Gaza debacle end over the rescue of stranded spacefarers.
Thanks for stopping by.

Boeing, Boeing, GONE!
Hi all, He E1,
Have fun at the farm! Keep an eye out for birds.
Let Wall St. profiteer mentality take over management because they can make more money. What could go wrong? Maybe like forget what made the company, its products, and its customers what they are and represent?
Boeing is a textbook class on letting money run a business above all other concerns. What flaming morons they are at the top. Incompetent to build spacecraft clearly.
My understanding is that NASA only wanted anybody to be in space for one year total time. There are many physiological changes that occur in the bodies of astronauts. Pretty sure one year has been the standard limit.
Further my understanding is that Sunni was at 11 months and change BEFORE this 3 hour cruise. Within the first month she was there she crossed the one year threshold. And now NASA thinks another SIX MONTHS is no problemo? Her time will increase by 50% OVER the prior maxima allowed. She has involuntarily become a lab rat for the US Gov.
Then think of pets and family and plans and life. Neither NASA, Boeing, or the U.S. Gov. give a flying rats arse. How can they think this is OK? Where is their humanity? Arrangements should be made to have them return with Russia if that will get them back sooner.
Then Boeing needs to be sued by them, and banned from any further space exploration. At least until they can prove their airplanes can stay in the air. They saw dollar signs and got out of their league and lane to gather those sweet taxpayer dollars up obviously.
The 777X has new problems revealed this week. The 787 has grave concerns and problems. The 737Max and likely some earlier ones also have problems. Does anyone see a pattern?
They will be deemed to big to fail when they go under, and WE will bail them out. The egregious exec pay, stock dividends, bonuses, and such will all be gone, so, sorry.
Too busy here, gotta fly, but not Boeing!
happy trails all!

Russia's New MC 21 passengerliner
A couple of days ago I watched a celphone video of one doing a barrelrow and twist in midair. It was amazing to see.
I thought only warplanes could do s**t like that.
I'm sure there weren't any passengers on board as it was described as a test flight.
But nonetheless, very impressive!
China also is marketing a competing aircraft, don't remember what it is called.
Cue the sanctions

Too funny! That is a world class short. Very clever and well done.
Actually I was thinking Vin Scully calling Dodgers games, going, going, it's gone! for home runs...
I presume my parents kept me from seeing that short as a child on purpose. My mys explained to me many decades ago that the primary difference between little girls and little boys is that boys make noises. Girls speak words. I certainly was one of those sound-effect kids, and fairly good at it if I may say. Still the occasional burst comes out, it is unstoppable.
be well brother!

Boeing civilian aircraft are leading the pack
over at AirLive.net with regard to recent emergency events, of which very many involve Boeing. Anyone following these reports is probably checking closely to book only non Boeing aircraft for their air travel needs. Me, I avoid flying whenever possible. I would prefer a 3-4 day drive to flying commercial.
Fortunately I like to drive and have little interest in crossing oceans by any conveyance at this point in my life.

would non-violently send the whole planet back into the pre-electrification days.
The rich would suffer the most. They would lose all their precious digital money.
Suddenly, all of humanity would be equal.

I don’t know about the non violent part of the pole flip idea.
Previous “excursions” of the magnetic pole or full flips have left geologic records of rapid ice melt and tectonic plate shift. Rich folk seem to be building their bunkers on high ground in certain areas. What does the cognoscenti know that they haven’t shared with the rest of us?

I, too, like driving
Done right it's relaxing and serene.
Adjust the seat just right, flip on the cruise control, put on a good travelin' CD, and a goodcup o'coffee, and sit back and enjoy the scenery going by.
I hate to fly.

for business reasons, but after TSA took over. doing the shoe dance,
belts and pockets, body scans, stealing shit from my baggage, etc.
it became more hassle than it is worth. Add to that cancellations and
delays, the whole airline industry has gone into a tailspin.
We are travel challenged. Between busses, trains, bad roads and broken
bridges, Uber and outlawing hitchhiking or even walking on certain roads,
the only sensible choice is to stay local and, if you can afford it, drive a car.
For contrast, look at what China has done to move the masses. At least on
the ground. People gotta move but into space? Not so much yet.
Thanks for the OT and good luck with the harvest!
Got up, did my Tuesday morning chores and headed out
to REI where there happens to be a sale in progress. Sometimes a different or replacement piece of gear can make a world of difference.
Meanwhile the Rus MoD is claiming Ukie losses in Kursk of >= 6,600 troops plus tons of equipment and the Ukies still haven't made any combat use of the F-16 wunderwaffen that were supposed to solve all of Ukiestan's problems. Wonder why. Lockheed, FWIW, has offered to maintain and repair them at its facility in Poland (so soon? my, my, my)

dozens of F-15s. How do they rate?
Oh, never mind.
I do wonder how those F-35s are working out since they want/demand F-15s.
