Murder, Suicide, and Madness

Open Thread Image.jpg

The Gaza genocide continues unabated...now killing starving Gazans waiting to get a meager supply of food. Aaron Bushnell couldn't it take anymore and set himself on fire in front of the Israeli embassy as he yelled, "Free Palestine". He wrote: "Many of us like to ask ourselves, 'What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?' The answer is, you're doing it. Right now." Meanwhile Joe Biden eats ice cream and claims to be working toward a Gaza ceasefire. Russia continues making gains in Ukraine, as Napoleon Macron threatens boots on the ground. Wait, I believe Russia killed over 60 french fighters with one missile in Ukraine last month.

What we're witnessing in Gaza and Palestine is murder...
Every day and Every night, parents in Gaza face the unimaginable decision of how to protect their children from the sky's terror. It's a reality far from our own, yet the cries for help stretch across oceans, begging us to listen.
Here are a few of those voices...

Aaron Bushnell gave his life to stop the genocide.

A Profound Act Of Sincerity (Caity Johnstone)

He live-streamed himself lighting himself on fire and burning to death in order to draw people’s attention to how horrific the US-backed atrocities in Gaza actually are. Knowing full well how painful it would be. Knowing full well he’d either die or survive with horrific burns and wish he’d died. Knowing full well that once he connected the flame with the accelerant he poured onto his body, there’d be no turning back.
...
We’re seeing Bushnell’s final words about the US empire’s complicity with genocide shared on mainstream networks like CNN and ABC, while Israel apologists run around falling all over themselves trying to tell people nobody cares about what Bushnell did like a guy sending a woman dozens of texts saying he’s totally unbothered that she rejected his advances. A member of the US military lighting himself on fire while screaming “Free Palestine” is absolutely devastating to the information interests of Israel and the United States, because it shakes people awake like nothing else ever could.

I hope it has shaken some awake.

The Zionist occupation forces send food into the northern Gaza strip to then kill starving Palestinians who try to collect it. More than 100 Palestinians have been killed and some 700 others wounded after Israeli troops opened fire on hundreds waiting for food aid southwest of Gaza City, health officials say, as the besieged enclave faces an unprecedented hunger crisis.
The Gaza Ministry of Health said on Thursday said at least 104 people were killed and more than 750 wounded, with the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemning what it said was a cold-blooded “massacre”.
The killing today was not by chance. I do not believe that it was unintentional. The food deliveries were under Israeli controls. So were the troops who killed the Palestinians who tried to collect the 'aid'. This is not the first time that a food convoy or aid distribution has been used by the Zionists to attract and then kill starving Palestinians. This is an extremely brutal and cynical way to genocide them.

Israel, Hamas Contradict Biden Claim That Gaza Ceasefire Is Close (Sneineh)
Israeli and Hamas officials met Biden’s optimistic language less enthusiastically. A senior Israeli official told Yedioth Ahronoth that “we do not understand what the American president’s optimism is based on.” Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas political chief, said the movement “will not allow the enemy to use negotiations as a cover for this crime”. Previously, Hamas described the optimism of reaching a deal as “far from the truth.” Biden’s comment seems to be more about the U.S. presidential race and less about ending the Israeli assault on Gaza.

Leaked Gaza Ceasefire Proposal US ‘Psychological Warfare’: Hamas (Cradle)
Hamas official Ahmad Abdul Hadi stated on 27 February that a leaked proposal for a ceasefire deal in Gaza is part of a “psychological warfare” campaign being carried out by the US. Details of the alleged proposal were leaked to Reuters on Monday, the same day US President Joe Biden said he hoped a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas could be reached by 4 March. “My national security adviser tells me that they’re close. They’re close. They’re not done yet. My hope is by next Monday we’ll have a ceasefire,” Biden claimed during an appearance on a late-night US talk show. But Abdul Hadi, the Hamas representative in Lebanon, stated that the resistance movement is not satisfied with the proposal and will not compromise on any of its demands, particularly “on a ceasefire and reaching an honorable, serious deal.”

EU committing Suicide or Tackling US Hegemony Head On?

Why War Bonds Are Returning in Europe (Luongo)

“Eurobonds are the Holy Grail for European integration,” Tom Luongo, financial and geopolitical analyst, told Sputnik. “PM Kallas is telling you what the plan is. The EU’s Achilles’ heel is the euro itself and its lack of central taxing authority.” “Eurobonds, issued through the European Commission, of this type are another way of handing that authority to Brussels, bypassing member state central banks and legislatures,” he added. “If one was cynical, which I am, one would suspect that the EU’s support for the war in Ukraine was mostly driven by this desire to centralize power in Brussels,” Luongo argued. “You start a war in Ukraine by purposefully crossing Russia’s red lines, drive inflation up locally, and empty the military coffers of all the post-WWII weapons and ammunition that is now outdated.
...
They need to keep Ukraine going to justify now spending another $100+ billion to launder into failing French and German banks sitting on massive losses from all the debt they bought during the NIRP (Negative Interest Rate Policy) period. This is just the beginning of their plans for transferring sovereignty out of the hands of the member states and handing it to Brussels. But to sell this to global investors they have to prove to the world they have all the wayward voices under control. Sovereign debt is secured through taxation and the productive capacity of the population. At this point the EU has neither.
... in the end, this is just about the exercise of raw power against domestic populations. Putin and his army are no more a threat to Berlin than they are a threat to Kiev at this point. NATO, and the plans to morph it into a global police force under UN control, is the reason for all of this. Europe wants the US to be a vassal after spending itself to death fighting the phantom menace of Putin. Eurobonds are the real story. The rest is just noise.

CIA involvement in Ukraine isn't a surprise, but TPTB admitting it is
CIA Built “12 Secret Spy Bases” In Ukraine – NYT (ZH)

On Sunday The New York Times published an explosive and very belated full admission that US intelligence has not only been instrumental in Ukraine wartime decision-making, but has established and financed high tech command-and-control spy centers, and was doing so long prior to the Feb. 24 Russian invasion of two years ago. Among the biggest revelations is that the program was established a decade ago and spans three different American presidents. The Times says the CIA program to modernize Ukraine’s intelligence services has “transformed” the former Soviet state and its capabilities into “Washington’s most important intelligence partners against the Kremlin today.” This has included the agency having secretly trained and equipped Ukrainian intelligence officers spanning back to just after the 2014 Maidan coup events, as well constructing a network of 12 secret bases along the Russian border—work which began eight years ago.
...
This means that with the disclosure of the longtime “closely guarded secret” the world just got a big step closer to WW3, given it means the CIA is largely responsible for the effectiveness of the recent spate of attacks which have included direct drone hits on key oil refineries and energy infrastructure. “Without them [the CIA and elite commandoes it’s trained], there would have been no way for us to resist the Russians, or to beat them,” according to Ivan Bakanov, former head of the SBU, which is Ukraine’s domestic intelligence agency.

I wonder when we'll get more information about the US bioweapon labs in Ukraine.

This is an excellent summary of the Ukraine story

The CIA in Ukraine – The NY Times Gets a Guided Tour (Patrick Lawrence)
You would be desperate, too, if you were making a case for a war Ukrainians are on the brink of losing and will never, brink or back-from-the-brink, have any chance of winning. Atop this, you want people who know better, including 70 percent of Americans according to a recent poll, to keep investing extravagant sums in this ruinous folly...
Everyone must act for the cause in these dire times. You have Chuck Schumer in Kyiv last week trying to show House Republicans that they should truly, really authorize the Biden regime to spend an additional $61 billion on its proxy war with Russia. “Everyone we saw, from Zelensky on down made this very point clear,” the Democratic senator from New York asserted in an interview with The New York Times. “If Ukraine gets the aid, they will win the war and beat Russia.” Even at this late hour people still have the nerve to say such things.
...someone appears to have decided it was time to let the Central Intelligence Agency’s presence and programs in Ukraine be known. And someone in Langley, the CIA’s headquarters, seems to have decided this will be O.K., a useful thing to do. When I say the agency’s presence and programs, I mean some: We get a very partial picture of the CIA’s doings in Ukraine, as the lies of omission—not to mention the lies of commission—are numerous in this piece. But what The Times published last weekend, all 5,500 words of it, tells us more than had been previously made public.

CIA in Ukraine (John Kiriakou)
Was the article published because the CIA wanted the news out there? Perhaps more important was the point of the article to influence the Congressional budget deliberations on aid to Ukraine? After all, was the article really just meant to brag about how great the CIA is? Or was it to warn Congressional appropriators, “Look how much we’ve accomplished to confront the Russian bear. You wouldn’t really let it all go to waste, would you?” The Times’ article has all the hallmarks of a deep, inside look at a sensitive—possibly classified—subject. It goes into depth on one of the intelligence community’s Holy of Holies, an intelligence liaison relationship, something that no intelligence officer is ever supposed to discuss. But in the end, it really isn’t so sensitive. It doesn’t tell us anything that every American hasn’t already assumed. Maybe we hadn’t had it spelled out in print before, but we all believed that the CIA was helping Ukraine fight the Russians. We had already seen reporting that the CIA had “boots on the ground” in Ukraine and that the U.S. government was training Ukrainian special forces and Ukrainian pilots, so there’s nothing new there.

NATO Troops Might Deploy to Ukraine? They’re Already There and Getting Killed

For its part, Russia warned that any deployment of NATO contingencies in Ukraine would mean the inevitability of the proxy war turning into a full-on wider war. In his State of the Nation address this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested that the fate of such NATO contingencies would end up like that of the Third Reich and Napoleon. Putin also warned that the escalation of NATO’s direct involvement in combat would run the risk of inciting a nuclear conflagration.

This is the single most important, dangerous and highly revealing statement from a top defense official in the West in a long time… It also demonstrates the precarious urgency of the moment and the huge stakes going into the November US election. The world truly stands on the precipice of a nuclear nightmare with the following fresh assertion of Biden’s Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who said before Congress on Thursday: “If Ukraine falls, I really believe that NATO will be in a fight with Russia,” Austin stated. What’s more is that this came the very day that Russian President Vladimir Putin warned things could easily spiral toward nuclear war in the scenario that NATO sends troops to Ukraine.

dark invader_0.jpg

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, by saying that NATO and Russia could end up fighting each other if Ukraine is defeated, proved that the US has a plan for it, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a diplomatic conference in Antalya. “The meaning of this statement is that if Ukraine loses, NATO will have to go against Russia. In a Freudian slip he blurted out what they had in mind. Before that, everyone was saying: We can’t let Ukraine lose, because [Russian President Vladimir] Putin will not stop at this and will take over the Baltics, Poland, Finland. But it turns out, according to Mr. Austin’s open, unambiguous statement, it’s the other way round. We do not have such plans and cannot have them, but the Americans do,” the minister said. According to Lavrov, Europe is currently the main victim of the US policy of “dragging Ukraine into NATO.”

Perhaps there's hope for peace in Ukraine...
Russian diplomats and Ukraine President Zelensky took turns visiting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) in Saudi Arabia this week, sparking rumors that these were peace talks with MBS playing mediator. The situation is delicate for all concerned. Ukraine itself verges on collapse with its army decimated, its ammo used up, and its coffers empty, awaiting the $60-plus-billion aid package that is stalled in Congress, meaning no salaries for Ukraine govt employees and no pensions. It’s delicate for the US because “Joe Biden” has declared our country won’t negotiate over Ukraine, despite the fact that there is nothing else to do now, or the end of the war will be negotiated without us.

I don't know, but he started interviewing COVID skeptics, political outsiders like Jimmy Dore, and then he was fired. He is certainly achieving success these days with over a billion views of his Putin interview.

I've only recently listened to Chas Freeman, but I find him insightful.

“Our foreign policy is diplomacy free.” As he watches the escalating crises in our world today, this is the main takeaway for Chas Freeman, who, as the US ambassador to Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War, knows a thing about diplomacy.
“It’s a lot cheaper and more effective to sit down and talk to someone than to pull a gun on them and shoot them,” he says. “But that’s what we seem to have substituted for our normal course of diplomatic interaction.”
Freeman explains the leading cause of forever wars: “There's nobody quite as bloodthirsty as a civilian with no experience of war.” As shown in the episode thumbnail above (side note: you know it’s a bad crew if the most likable character in the picture is Matthew Miller), the warmongers in charge of foreign policy are all civilians. When the top US general Mark Milley called for peace talks in Ukraine, it was these bad actors who shut it down.
“The military know that they can die in a war, that their comrades will die,” says Freeman. “They know that you should never enter a war without figuring out first how you're going to end it, on what terms, and with whom.” But the ‘leaders’ we do have never had to fight. “Civilians typically define no end state, have no war termination strategy, which is why we get forever wars.”
And the future only looks bleaker.
“Here we have an election which is between someone who is widely regarded as a senile war monger and somebody who has been correctly diagnosed as a malignant narcissist.
... the main difference between the genocide in Israel and the one in South Africa:
“South Africa was on the verge of having a race war but it never had one. Israel is having a race war.”

It is a bitter pill to swallow recognizing that your own country is the global terrorist. The global majority has no problem seeing and recognizing the nature of US hegemony. They are the hope as they try to build a cooperative mutually beneficial world.
This week President Vladimir Putin addressed the Russian Federal Assembly
Putin asserted that the western attempts against Russia had failed:
The so-called West, with its colonial practices and penchant for inciting ethnic conflicts around the world, not only seeks to impede our progress but also envisions a Russia that is a dependent, declining, and dying space where they can do as they please. In fact, they want to replicate in Russia what they have done in numerous other countries, including Ukraine: sowing discord in our home and weakening us from within. But they were wrong, which has become abundantly clear now that they ran up against the firm resolve and determination of our multi-ethnic people.
...
Together, as citizens of Russia, we will stand united in defence of our freedom and our right to a peaceful and dignified existence. We will chart our own course, to safeguard the continuity of generations, and thus the continuity of historical development, and address the challenges facing the country based on our outlook on the world, our traditions and beliefs, which we will pass down to our children.

The Global South Converges to Multipolar Moscow (Pepe Escobar)
...they are meticulously designing the blueprints of economic, technological and cultural development in the post-Western hegemonic world.
Professor of International Relations Zhang Weiwei at Fudan University’s China Institute in Shanghai summarized the four crucial points:
1/ Under the unipolar order, everything from dollars to computer chips can be weaponized. Wars and color revolutions are the norm.
2/ China has become the largest economy in the world by PPP; the largest trade and industrial economy; and it is currently at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
3/ China proposes a model of “Unite and Prosper” instead of a Western model of “Divide and Rule”.
4/ The West tried to isolate Russia, but the Global Majority sympathizes with Russia. Thus, the Collective West has been isolated by the Global Rest.
“Global Rest”, incidentally, is a misnomer: Global Majority is the name of the game.

Cassiodorus's picture

--on such a well-composed diary...

I'm guessing that c99% remains extremely small because the shadow government -- the alphabet agencies and their masters within the Two-Party System -- doesn't want it to be big. And, on the other hand, there are the "proles" of which Orwell once complained. My allusion is to that discussion in Orwell's 1984 about Winston Smith having some hope for the proles. Chapter 7 begins: "'If there is hope,’ wrote Winston, ‘it lies in the proles.’" Using the ctrl+f function, I can see that it's there in the book more than once.

But if there was hope, it lay in the proles. You had to cling on to that. When you put it in words it sounded reasonable: it was when you looked at the human beings passing you on the pavement that it became an act of faith. (p. 109)

Of course, if there is any hope in Orwell's novel, it's in the Appendix, beginning on p. 376, in which we are to imagine a future in which the creation of Newspeak can be viewed objectively. What this appendix suggests is that the project of Newspeak failed. Just as a reminder, here, I'll quote the passage in which the project of Newspeak is described by a member of the Inner Party:

‘The proles are not human beings,’ he said carelessly. ‘By 2050—earlier, probably—all real knowledge of Oldspeak will have disappeared. The whole literature of the past will have been destroyed. Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton, Byron—they’ll exist only in Newspeak versions, not merely changed into something different, but actually changed into something contradictory of what they used to be. Even the literature of the Party will change. Even the slogans will change. How could you have a slogan like ‘freedom is slavery’ when the concept of freedom has been abolished? The whole climate of thought will be different. In fact there will be no thought, as we understand it now. (p. 68)

This is, of course, ridiculous solipsism, of the sort that you hear from the Blinken/ Nuland/ Sullivan/ Austin team when they're discussing Ukraine. Yeah, we're going to destroy Russia. But, of course, you can't use the Internet to rally the proles. It has to be done through dialectics - as a reaction to the utter idiocy of America's ruling classes.

At any rate, some side-notes:

1) the link about NATO troops already in Ukraine seems to collect facts that have been reported elsewhere in the alternative media, though I'm not sure where. Is the Macron statement basically a butt-hurt because the Russians killed some French "mercenaries" recently? At any rate, that link has a domain name .su, which was the domain name granted to the Soviet Union before it was dissolved. It's interesting that the Soviet Union's domain name still exists. I'd love to use it.

2) The Sputnik piece now has a companion article: "NATO Arms Designed to ‘Keep Kiev on Life Support’, Not Enable Ukraine to ‘Win’" Of course, the problem with Ukraine is far more complex than not enough weapons. Rather, it's a) Ukraine foolishly engaged offensives without adequate capabilities, most notably control of the air-space above the offensives, and b) Far more significantly than weapons, Ukraine is out of time -- they can't rest their troops, they don't even have time to train them, and they don't have time to process whatever "aid" the West might give them because it's all needed on the battlefield now.

3) At any rate, aren't the Russians developing innovations in weaponry that the West can't match?

Maybe because its a designed web page and not just a dump ot the latest issue of a paper product. Meanwhile, the pace of Rus special Op is clearly due to their concern to refrain from the gratuitous attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure that is the hallmark of Western military operations. If the US were in charge there would be nothing whatsoever left of Odessa of Kiev and the entire territory west of the Dnieper would be saturated with multiple defoliants.

Yeah cray cray is the descriptor. The pandemic was the "man behind the curtain" and now only the blind can't see.

Pay No Attention To That Man Behind The Curtain...

Take care and thanks for dropping in today!

Hi all, Hey LO!

Thanks for this week's great walk down insanity lane. Wink

If only the US had anyone in the media or politics as educated and eloquent as George Galloway.

Friday had my first of spring Purple Martin, and northbound Sandhill Crane flock. Saturday was my first Black-chinned Hummingbird of the spring. Barn Swallow should be any day, and Vermilion Flycatcher too. Spring is about to explode, bring it on!

The first few flowers starting to show, leaves breaking stem on Mulberry and Texas Persimmon...

Thanks for the OT LO!

take care all!

Daffodils ringing the bell. Lots of finch, phoebes, wrens, titmouse, chickadees, nut hatch, and so on. Also hearing lots of owls as well as hawks.

On we go. Enjoy what we got!

Thanks for the visit!

was so much more and better than I expected. What a life he has lived, what a perspective he has.
Galloway doesn't kiss ANYONE'S ass, does he? Interview him at your peril, "journalists"!

New to me in the last year, but long in the tooth. He just hasn't been om my radar but should have been.
Glad you liked that one...I did too.

...of the week's events. Thanks lookout.

The lies will be thick and furious as the election draws near. But this is no different than any other recent election in the US. The people will receive the government that has already been selected for them.

As early as 2016, it no longer mattered who won the Presidency. Sometime before that, we passed the point of no return, but it's hard to telll exactly when that was.

I wonder if a time will come when we no longer want to talk about this in public?

....and also the health issues. Folks have been so brainwashed that conversation is difficult.

I've got one friend that bought into the "healthy cereal" myth and is now in dementia and fell down breaking her arm and leg. I tried to talk with her about it but the recommendations have been her guide.

Folks, they are lying to us. Think about what you're doing.

Be well!

and without being CT one has to realize that they were writing a friendly story in exchange for access no doubt. I'm sure there have been mistakes and setbacks like with any endeavor.

The war in Ukraine is dollar for dollar a bargain, the downside is that Ukraine and to an even larger extent Russia, is paying the price in dead people. I have noticed a lot of successes in long range drones and also explosions at critical plants and infrastructure that can only be sabotage.

Chechnya should have been enough of a warning but with a lot of things it was far away and not happening to people I know.

In other news Biden has had some very bad polling of late. I'm not a big fan of Trump.

DK is in denial, and schizophrenic. They are calling everything genocide but angry at each other when the absurd accusation is leveled at Biden. Or maybe you all like that, hard to tell. They sound a lot like C99 except absolute loyalty to the Biden admin is also required.

Larry Johnson, the former CIA guy, is on Dialogue Works and he and the host, Nima, discuss both the Ukraine and Gazan conflicts. This was posted this morning, but evidently Johnson was at the time of day and in the mood to just tee off. I have never heard him be this frank, down to earth, in any interview. He has seen enough to drop the social niceties and speak the blunt truth.
