I wanted to comment and tell Readers that the video is just someone's opinion. But, actually, Prof. Jiang Xueqin's logic is not that easy to dismiss. The statistics and patterns he uses are real. And I can't think of one single economic variable that could pull the US balance sheet back from the brink, before the year ends. What the US big money AI chip investors are hoping for is that the US beats China in the AI chip race — across all types — and the world rushes in to buy American AI chips. (Starting at $700,000 each). But, that's not realistic ....

What's more likely to happen is that China will finish slightly ahead of the US, for the win. Furthermore, China is selling their AI chips as open-weight or open-source — as a result, top Chinese chips will be priced at a tiny fraction of the cost of the US chips. This cost difference could kill the market for US chips.

Over the weekend, however, Trump addressed this issue and declared that Chinese AI chips are a threat to US national security, so they will be banned in the US. Plus, any import of Chinese Chips will have a tariff raising its price to match US made AI chips. What's more, it will be illegal to sell open-source AI chips in the US. (As I recall, enacting tariffs, paid for by consumers, is how we destroyed this economy in the first place.)

Carlos, here, is arguing the fine points of Being a True Leftist. Don't, Carlos argues, be a Nice Liberal with a Big Ego. Don't, for instance, stand there while the wars are raging while you click your tongues and say tsk, tsk, both sides are bad. I agree with Carlos here. Don't.
