Friday Night Photos Dia De Los Muertos Edtion
Happy Friday everyone. Hope everybody is doing well. Post any photos, memes, or music you like.
El Día de los Muertos is not, as is commonly thought, a Mexican version of Halloween, though the two holidays do share some traditions, including costumes and parades. On the Day of the Dead, it’s believed that the border between the spirit world and the real world dissolves. During this brief period, the souls of the dead awaken and return to the living world to feast, drink, dance and play music with their loved ones. In turn, the living family members treat the deceased as honored guests in their celebrations, and leave the deceased’s favorite foods and other offerings at gravesites or on the ofrendas built in their homes. Ofrendas can be decorated with candles, bright marigolds called cempasuchil and red cock’s combs alongside food like stacks of tortillas and fruit.

Well, at least some of the dead play music
Perhaps they are grateful to be dead
as in Grateful Dead? Who knows. Some
things get lost in translation.
I like the idea of the veil being lifted from the
nether regions to allow dead souls to enjoy
Taco Bells. Heaven can wait, but a good burrito
with salsa enhances what was once a gastronomic
pleasure. Although taste is relative, depending on the
decomposition of the tongue, one could surmise,
things just go better with coke
Like figuring out the next war plan
Hi, QMS.
Tacos. Burritos. Now you're making me hungry. A burrito right about now sounds good.

Hi Q
I love all the detours your imagination takes.

Nice song selection

I played this before and focused on the music,
not the art.
Here it is once more:
"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981
Perfectly fitting
and complimentary music and visual.
I only recently found out Rolling Along
Gaah!
I will never, ever, forget that Amarillo Mavericks concert. Musicianship
you hear once in a lifetime.
NOBODY sings better that Raul Malo, especially since Roy Orbison is gone.
Example:
"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981
Beautiful rendition, thanks
Then this
"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981
And then this
"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981
Thanks for Raul
awesome!

Thanks for the Tejano music.

Hi Social
Thank you for the animated photos. There is something so enlivening about the celebratory nature of death in Mexico.
Here is a bouquet of flowers for all …
Be well and enjoy
Hi, Janis
Beautiful shot of the flowers. The wood makes a nice background.

Thanks Social
They are Sweet Peas and Columbine. Unfortunately technology hasn't achieved adding fragrance to images ; ).
Hi pixelators
Hi all, Hey SP!
Hope it's all good over yonder!
Great photos SP. Of a very different sort of subject to photograph. Good job.
Beautiful flowers Janis. I was gonna say those look like Columbine at top, but ours are red.
Here is a Carolina Wren. Nevermind, getting an 'ajax' error...
I gotta fly anyway...
be well all!
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

Hi dystopian
My memory of Columbine were purely blue. I'd love to see a red one!
Ajax, as in disappearing cleanser?
Cheers
Oh well,
It was in the uploader box. Kept coming back
error: AJAXblah blah blah.... wouldn't let me
upload a pic.

How boring
but sorry for the frustration ; ).
Hey guys and gals. I love the photos and tunes.
The Mexican celebration of the dead is such a festive one. I love that and all the colors, plus they know how to cook. jb, love the flowers. Over at my 'home' site, TPW, we were celebrating Halloween with "Monster Mash" and plenty of Grateful Dead gems. I made a comment that you were not considered a serious (music) head if you didn't know Jerry and the boyz back in the day. They were iconic. Anywho, sure beats all the war crap. Rec'd!!
Inner and Outer Space: the Final Frontiers.
Hi obf
You prompted me to check out TPW. With regard to the current essay, although the author includes relevant context regarding Bernie’s position, I still don’t believe there is any valid defense for not asking for a ceasefire.
I agree with the Bernster between 85-90% of the time, jb.

A few shots from casa venados

Hi, lookout
Thanks for the shots from Casa Venados. I don't know if it will ever happen or not but, one day I'd like to visit the Yucatan.
I'm great at multi-tasking. I can waste time, be unproductive, and procrastinate all at the same time.
There is much to see there...
I want to do at least two more visits, and we've been there three times. Great birding, beautiful beaches, coral reefs, Maya ruins, Spanish colonial cities ...what more could you want?
Hope you can get down there. It is fairly cheap for us to fly into Cancun.
As always you have great pictures!
