Album of the Week 6-3-23

Afternoon folks!

It's been another good week for uploading music. This week there's a nice acoustic blues album by Larry Johnson on which he is accompanied on harmonica and slide guitar by John Hammond Jr. After that, there's a nice compilation album of Willie Mabon doing some fine Chicago blues. Following up is some blues rock with the Climax Blues Band, one of their early 70's albums when they strayed less from the blues style than later. Following that is another, my favorite album by Osibisa, a band from Ghana. Then there's some rockabilly with the Stray Cats and we finish up the week with a spacey-prog rock album from Hawkwind.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Here 'tis:

Larry Johnson - Country Blues

Willie Mabon - I'm A Heart Regulator

Climax Blues Band - Sense of Direction

Osibisa - Woyaya

Stray Cats - Blast Off!

Hawkwind - X In Search of Space

your posting Osibisa. I was into Hugh Masakela back when people would look at me like I was speaking pig Latin. Osibisa was just an influence from Masakela, plus their LP art was first class. :-). Anyway, Rec’d x 100!

@orlbucfan

glad that you're enjoying the tunes.

in addition to being a news junkie most of my life, i've also been a music junkie. spending a number of years with a very large radio record library and friends into all different kinds of music really allowed me to get exposed to some interesting music.

Hi Joe,

GREAT soundscape man! I love that Osibisa. It is awesome stuff. So creative and original. Very cool!

There were multiple copies of all Climax Blues Band and Hawkwind amongst my circles of hippie-stoner music freaks in Hunt. Bch. CA in the early 70's. I quite liked them both.

Spacing out by spacing in.

Thanks for the sounds!

@dystopian

glad you're digging osibisa. so far i have posted their first two albums, which are my favorites. i hope to post some more of their albums, i am still in process of cleaning up a couple more of them.

i really liked the early climax blues band stuff in the late 60's and early 70's. they weren't terribly popular here until their more commercial stuff in the late 70's. hawkwind was always a kind of cult-following band in my area, but the stoner crowd really dug them.

have a great week!
