Stray Cats

Album of the Week 3-30-24

Afternoon folks!

An album by Muddy Waters starts us off this week, followed by a compilation of tunes from Little Junior Parker and Bobby Blue Bland - each from their early days with Duke records. After that there's a compilation album of r&b/doo-wop from Otis Williams and His Charms. Following that there's an album of Hot Tuna doing an acoustic set and an electric set live - I'm pretty sure that it's from a performance broadcast by KSAN in the early 70's. After that there's a Stray Cats album and we finish off with some bluegrass from The Dreadful Snakes, featuring banjoist Bela Fleck and Dobro monster Jerry Douglas.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 6-3-23

Afternoon folks!

It's been another good week for uploading music. This week there's a nice acoustic blues album by Larry Johnson on which he is accompanied on harmonica and slide guitar by John Hammond Jr. After that, there's a nice compilation album of Willie Mabon doing some fine Chicago blues. Following up is some blues rock with the Climax Blues Band, one of their early 70's albums when they strayed less from the blues style than later. Following that is another, my favorite album by Osibisa, a band from Ghana. Then there's some rockabilly with the Stray Cats and we finish up the week with a spacey-prog rock album from Hawkwind.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week - 5-13-23

Afternoon folks!

This week there's a compilation album of Chuck Willis' r&b hits and a live recording of John Mayall in the blues category. There's some rockabilly with the Stray Cats, some blues rock with Steppenwolf and Little Feat. There's also a countryish, bluesy Rita Coolidge album. We finish up with Don "Sugar Cane" Harris (formerly of Don & Dewey) playing some proggy bluesy music wherein you might hear an echo or two of his friendship with Frank Zappa. I'm not sure if that last one will play well, because youtube has decided to censor it as adult material because (gasp) the cover art of the album has a naked nipple displayed on it. I guess youtube is taking no chances in this world where Michaelangelo's David is labelled pornography. Yeesh!

Enjoy!

Today's number is 10

10 is the base of the decimal number system. Since many others such as 12 make more sense, we must assume that it is because humans have 10 manual digits.
