A quick way to end your career - give Putin respect in public

Kay-Achim Schönbach, the chief of the German navy was forced to resign today. The reason for his resignation is that he voiced opinions that were not helpful for the warmongers.

Taking questions after a short presentation, Schönbach seemed to downplay the possibility of a military conflict with Russia and Ukraine. “Is Russia really interested in having a tiny strip of Ukrainian soil, to integrate into their country?” the 56-year-old said. “No. Putin is putting on pressure because he knows he can do it, he splits the European Union.”

What Putin really wanted, Schönbach argued, was respect. “On eye level, he wants respect. And my God, giving him respect is low cost, even no cost. It is easy to give him the respect he demands, and probably deserves.”

Give Putin respect? But Putin is the new Hitler! And we all know that any actual diplomacy is the same as surrendering.

The navy chief also said the annexed territories of Crimea were “gone” and would “never come back” to Kyiv, arguing in favour of closer economic ties with Russia to contain China’s rise. “Having this big country, even if it is not a democracy, as a bilateral partner … probably keeps Russia away from China.”

Ukraine's ambassador compared these comments to "the horrors of the Nazi occupation".
Which makes we wonder what this guy's idea of the Nazi occupation is.

This reminded me of Ukraine's defence minister Andrii Taran, who was forced to resign in November, after he denied that Russia was preparing to invade.

Meanwhile, the warmongers have invented new ways of hyping the Russia threat.

Six Russian landing ships capable of carrying main battle tanks, troops and other military vehicles travelled through the Channel en route to the Mediterranean last week in a deployment that could bolster an amphibious landing on Ukraine’s southern coast if Vladimir Putin orders an attack.

An amphibious landing?!? Why would Russia do that when they already have a long border with Ukraine? That makes absolutely no military sense at all.

The way the media here in Germany played it, it sounded more like he didn't want to follow our secretary of defence Christine Lambrecht silencing efforts. And I would applaude him for that.

"I have asked Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht to relieve me from my duties with immediate effect," Vice Admiral Kay-Achim Schoenbach said in a statement cited by the Reuters news agency.

Christine Lambrecht has no shame. I hope she will disappear from the political stage rather sooner than later.

@mimi @mimi government shenanigans that we do. I think this fine man who told the truth and then acted on it, so as not to be a part of future useless killings. Good for him, and good if more officials do that.
Have a great evening/day, chica.

U.S. plans for lack of Russian gas

The Biden administration has been in regular discussions with a number of countries and companies in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Asia about stepping up production of liquified natural gas to Europe in the event that a Russian invasion of Ukraine leads to gas shortages, multiple US officials familiar with the discussions told CNN.
The State Department, led by Senior Adviser for Energy Security Amos Hochstein, has in the last six to eight weeks been putting together a global strategy exploring contingency options to redirect and increase gas supplies from different parts of the world, a senior US official said.

This can happen, but it won't be cheap. Natgas shipped by ship will be much more expensive.

Totally unrelated, by interesting

Using Iranian bank funds freed from American sanctions, South Korea has paid Iran's $18 million in delinquent dues owed to the United Nations, Seoul said Sunday. The step was apparently approved by Washington to restore Tehran's suspended voting rights at the world body.

The South Korean Foreign Ministry said Seoul had paid the sum using Iranian assets frozen in the country after consulting with the United States Treasury — a potential signal of flexibility amid floundering nuclear negotiations.

What was not reported about this incident was that he was in India at the time and his Indian counterpart strongly agreed with him and spoke of their excellent relationship with President Putin and Russia. India was a client state of the Soviet Union, probably because of their long term experience with the brutal Anglo-American Empire. The West is trying to play on anti-Soviet feelings, however the global anti Western Imperialist feelings are much broader and stronger than that. Russia is not the Soviet Union and in fact Russia was as much a victim of the Bolsheviks. That and WWII cost Russia half of their potential population at this point in time. President Putin has quite a grudge against the Bolsheviks. The US fans the flames of Russophobia wherever it can. When it comes to aggressive behaviour the US and the UK stand alone and now have the barking dogs of the Baltic States and Poland to make matters much worse. I really don't see how the US contains the mess that it has created.

Capitalism has always been the rule of the people by the oligarchs. You only have two choices, eliminate them or restrict their power.

but the BBC? The frickin BBC??? Sax Rohmer would be a fairer choice.
