Along the beaches of Hormuz Island in the Persian Gulf lies a series of gumdrop-esque abodes.
Welcome to today's edition of the C99 open thread. Inspired by this architectural venture in Iran. Probably not something seen in the western MSM news, as the country happens to resist the empire's plans for world dominance, therefore an enemy threat. Goes to show the propaganda slant painting the US 'enemies' as an evil to be feared. Seems like a pretty progressive social program.
Most of the bulbous structures hold living accommodations with communal dining, laundry, and prayer areas woven throughout. The vibrant venues were designed as part of an initiative to remedy local economic struggles and bring together tourists and the community in a shared cultural space.
In a country where the state struggles with political disputes outside its borders, every architectural project becomes a proposal for internal governing alternatives, asking basic questions: What are the limits of architecture and how can it suggest a political alternative for communal life? How can it attain social agency?

With allies like Israel and Saudi, who needs enemies? The US pretends to care about the Chinese Muslims as Israel has open air prisons, and Saudis imprison women for wanting to have rights...as we justify the Afghan forever war as being about women's rights. Come on.

Updated: Open Thread ? Help me getting money from A to B
(not the A and B Cusp lovers, sorry) but from Germany to the US, where ever JtC is located.
In the past when I was still in the US and even the first two years since I am back in this wonderfully complicated country of my birth, it's a nightmare.
The donations go over paypal.com I used to use payupal.com in the US and sent money from my US account.
Now we have here paypal.de and they suck. I can't get them to add my German Bank Account to their service website and keep it working. I added my US account to paypal.de, but the US bank is not taking money through paypal.de Obviously, the Texans out there don't want my money./s
So, what should I think about it ? Am I too dumb? Are they too dumb or too smart? Buy myself a ticket to Washington DC, storm the bank and yell at them? Thinking is not my forte, as you already know. How do I yell at paypal.de? Where can I confront them face to face? Arghh, they couldn't care less.
So, no more money. It's all gone anyway.

UPDATE: I made it work. Yippie. now I am broke for a while. I need a job. This is so ridiculous under lockdowns, hate people, and overall depressing situations. I want to work, otherwise I go nuts. Good morning QMS. The structure in the last pic
in the first link is mentally reminiscent of a Kiva, while the structural technique shown in the third link is reminiscent of an igloo. Meanwhile, sounds vaguely like rammed earth meats coiled clay pots meets adobe hacienda. Most interesting.
The whole communal construct with its pseudo-riverine meandering walkways is terrific, let us hope that the US or one of its allies doesn't bomb the shit out of it.
Further poking around leads to the underlying process etc. coming from Cal-Earth in Hesperia, CA, of all places. This is near Victorville, between Barstow and Cajon Pass, out in my beloved Mojave, more or less where Hwy 395 meets I-15.

In other news, no mucho, but, reminiscent of a recent OT in part on onions, yestidday I just stuck 6 retail grocery green onions, as is, into one raised bed to see is they will take off (they should) and serve as an aphid deterrent (all allium allegedly do so). More news a couple of months from now, as I have a Portuguese Kale, a major aphid magnet, transplanted into that exact same bed after washing a ton of aphids off of it also yestidday.

Like pyramids, it is basically stable, and prefers
standing up to falling down. He uses a mix or dirt with a pit of cement for mudding, probably easier on the outside than the inside, but nothing any good plasterer or stucco wallah isn't up to I suspect. Inside would be hardest, no doubt. The place in Hesperia talks about a final treatment on the outside that I must've mis-understood because no illustrated structure looks like what I see in my mind's eye.

I didn't have any brilliant idea today about constructing a new type of community, but at least I unsubscribed to emails from Pelosi wanting money. How I got on her list is beyond me. I just started getting them a few days ago. My brilliant idea is to ignore Pelosi, refuse to give the D party a dime until they give us something first.

The emails struck me as
very amateurish. Hysterical headlines about stuff they voted upon, then desperate pleas for money to beat the dreaded Republicans. Such a scam.
