I suspected you might have a sense of fun and I was correct! Smile

I’m just getting ready to caramelize some onions in a little red wine to top off my beef brisket later and was wondering if I really needed to wait until noon to have a glass of wine?

Hope your day is surrounded by people who love and treasure you, Joe!

@Anja Geitz sounds delicious, and holidays are meant to open up the wine as soon as coffee settles.
My cabin has a fire pit with benches, and a small pile of chopped up tree limbs that should start easily. The time to enjoy a fire is today.I The rains start tonight, could continue sporadically for the next 2 days.
We might bring some logs to the porch to keep them dry.
We do not hear any traffic other than an occasional boat.
We have a ZZ Top concert roaring, and the neighbors have not complained!

I think of MTV. I was in my early 20’s and between Madonna, Prince and Springsteen, the girls coming out of that car to the music of ZZ Top is forever seared in my mind.

Your cabin by the lake sounds so cozy. Have you seen any alligators yet? Smile

Just got word from SCE that we are in a public safety shut off zone today and tomorrow. Santa Ana winds have been ripping through the trees for the last two hours. Sure hope the winds die down. Not having electricity sucks. Ugh.

enjoying your day.

Everything here is prepped to go into the oven at the proper time except the Turkey, which is small enough that I don't even start the coals for another 10 minutes.

My wife is in the next room watching Emma on the Tube. I get that the pandemic dictates that we swap the Lions for Jane Austin, but I cannot figure out from the audio just who the hell she is playing.

I remember that in the 1996 and after it would have helped me to learn PERL and Unix shell scripting or some such... I barely scratched html, but pretty extensively.

But these days? Twenty some years later? To produce another blog-style thingy? Too late for me. I developed a distinct allergy towards slavery from the IT technology. I fight the addictive dependency every day and lose all the time just for this darn blog called C99p.

Zoom away, folks, I am zooming out to learn how to set up a zoom to see my son playing music.

I hate the internet and its oligarchs. But I need to be thankful ... unfortunately.

I could have definately expressed myself better and earlier.
Without some type of coding, the device you are reading this on could not work.
Without coding you would never achieve an algorithm.
Without the algorithms the drones could not fly in such formations.
Now we move on to the worst part.
Algorithms control almost all world markets. If it's transfered electronically it's been written by one who codes and is therefore failable or vulnerable to other coders.
A simplified answer that you can expand on with research.
Peace

@Pricknick
and my distinct allergies towards what you called "code" has its reason and is based on the fact that it controls all aspects of life nowadays. We have become slaves of that "code"

I developed a distinct allergy towards slavery from the IT technology.

I resent slavery.

My jobs at various places was to 'put order in neglected archives of various employers'. These archives were still in paper and physical tape format. They were slowly digitized and controlled mostly then from he companies headquarters around the globe. In that context I once talked to the National Archives guys in College Park, MD. They very clearly said that digital archives are way more vulnerable than old fashioned paper archives and are easily manipulated by code and destroyed. I think those guys knew what they were talking about. Since then I don't trust digital archives very much at the risk of being silently mocked by younger folks who were supposed to take over my job when I retired. I only think those who laugh last, laugh best.

In my daily life I realize that my tendency to keep information on paper format has been helpful and I am glad to keep books on the shelves and are not dependent to read them online.

At least I will withdraw from the slavery of IT and Code technology before it is too late.

I hope you had a decent Thanksgiving dinner.

Our Thanksgiving was micro-sized. We were fine with it.

Evidently, some of our neighbors had a little bit too much of a good time. There have been fireworks going off throughout the subdivision all evening. Big stuff, too. Nutty Texans...

I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking.

I must down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

But from the side that we don’t know about? Trump removed Albright, Kissinger and a few others and apparently we are supposed to be concerned about it.

The Defense Policy Board is an outside advisory group of former high profile national security officials who "provide the Secretary of Defense and the Deputy Secretary of Defense, independent, informed advice and opinions concerning matters of defense policy in response to specific tasks from the Secretary of Defense, the Deputy Secretary of Defense," according to their website.

So they provide informed advice and opinions huh? I’m sure they do. It’s to make sure that the new people in a new administration knows what the ongoing game plan is and can continue the wars, regime changes and other shenanigans that has been going on. lol.
