@QMS

each photo had one line at least, to go with the person. I found the image really interesting to look at anyway. What captured me was the sternness of the faces, and then I remembered of course, one couldn't be exactly spontaneous while having to hold a posture for a long time. I also wondered whether there was less to smile about, or maybe smiling was reserved for the times it came naturally ... you know, like before we all had to say 'cheese' ; ).

I noticed the script at the bottom, 'firesheets', and I wondered what that was. I still don't really understand if that is the name of the photography studio or what? I did find this on ancestry.com as a meaning of 'firesheets'.

"Historically, surnames evolved as a way to sort people into groups - by occupation, place of origin, clan affiliation, patronage, parentage, adoption, and even physical characteristics (like red hair). Many of the modern surnames in the dictionary can be traced back to Britain and Ireland."

Also, never heard of South Boston, Va before. Sometimes it's nice to linger with a mysterious image and write your own stories.

Cheers all.

The artful simplicity and gentle drama of the soft, sketchy face and the reflection on the wall of the crossed leaded glass, is very satisfying to look at. It is nice to know the relationship between person and place.

Hi all,

Great pix QMS, and BR. One day I'll have to scan some stuff from my B & W days. Actually for gulls it is the best. I was still shooting it long after all but a couple birders stopped. Nice lines QMS.

Sorry I missed last week, we had a severe thunderstorm with 2.5" of rain in 2.5 hours last Friday night, had to unplug everything... got some badly needed water though...

A couple weeks ago I showed a female Golden-cheeked Warbler. Now you get to see the male, one of which came into our birdbath in early May. I guide birders to see this bird, the 100 days a year or so it is in the U.S. to breed. Of course all that cancelled this year, but the birds are here.

The greater and more obvious presence of the birds I bet has been a treat for humans everywhere at this time. I can only imagine what a pleasure it has been for the birds.

Stay strong and well.

This reminds me of Bodega who never saw a puddle that she didn’t want to play in.

A few people put music to the video. One is Irish.

Okay folks raise your hand if you jumped in puddles. Or if you still do.

PS: Do you know what got on my nerves the most doing archival work once upon the time?
The way dates were written differently in the US (English) and in Germany (German).
If you write out the date of Eights of September 2019. in US-style it would be: 09/08/19 and in German style it would be 08/09/2019. Now imagine you are to clean up an older archive of an office, in which Americans and Germans worked together. It's an old archive. And you don't know anymore, if the folks who put things into the archvies were Americans or Germans.
So, you have to guess if the date written on the thing was on 8th of September 2019 or on 9ths of August 1919. Anyone interested in that cleaning job?

Bye

Not only is that last flower photo absolutely beautiful, but the reading associated with it was also very beautiful and inspiring. I've also read part of the Seide interview, and thank you again for referencing The Sun.
