Friday Night Photos - Almost Spring (snowed today) Edition

What to say.

Remember when you could go out, just because...

Fred asks, 'Is it safe out there Dad?'

Made a load of emergency masks over the last few days. Pulled out and played my old clarinet, and cleaned and polished my great-uncle's sword.

Good times.

Stay well.

to Joseph Marx's piano concerto. Pure schmaltz. It sounds like something Scriabin might have come up with after eating a pound of sugar and then sitting down immediately at his piano and spewing over the music paper to hand.

Recommended if you like syrup.

I was playing around with AndreaMosaic. This one is 100 tiles per row with a minimum of 10 tiles between duplicates. My source library is about 1100 photos (3 years worth of bird photos minus the portrait orientation photos) and the total number of tiles is over 10,000.

The Lawrence's warbler photo is from 2016.

Click through to the Flickr page and then click on the photo twice to get maximum magnification.

in a recent post, talked of two-ply coffee filters with elastic bands. So I went ahead, as we have filters and bands.

Like I say, emergency stuff.

Mrs Bollox has made a few more robust things from cotton rags and sewn elastic.

Hi Br and all

My daily walk takes me around to the yacht harbor. Here is a Night Heron standing on the sign above the table where people clean their fish.

There is one maybe two that live in the tree above and several others that live in other trees nearby. I always check to see if they are there when I pass.

But only if she has a yard with a good fence. They are great with kids and very loving. But she should research them just in case. Charlie is my 3rd beagle so I knew what to expect from her, but she is the best minded one I've had. I thank Abby for teaching her how to mind. People who have had one are in awe at how she stays with me.

@Socialprogressive Put it where you can open a window and shoot it from inside the house, (best if sitting, with a beer holder) using house as a blind. I made a window screen with a hole in it that I could shoot through. Also consider lighting, from over the shoulder as much as possible. You don't want to be shooting into the light of course.

The photo of the cedar waxwings and sparrow at the bird bath is such a buoyant photo. Thanks

You never fail to bring a smile. I'm sending you one in return ...

My daughter sent me a video yesterday of one of their pair of twin cats playing fetch with a small bunched up ball of paper. Never before had I thought a cat would play fetch, but that is exactly what she did. You might want to try it with Fred if you’re both bored.

From days of black and white, to a bit of colour. At least that’s what it feels like at the moment.

It helps to hear the laughter of parents and children crossing the divide as they enjoy their isolation playing together. Other neighbours are practicing their drumming or saxophone. I hope for them and others that this time will leave a deeper sense of wellbeing and community. For many though, I know it may crush them. That’s what saps the colour out of the picture for me. What is this time about, I wonder?

This is a very sweet, and very local story …

Across the road is a fairly short trail down to a road to the bay. Some very creative resident with (probably a box of now unused) children’s toys, hid dollhouse pieces and miniature stuffed animals off the trail, with a sign at each end inviting children taking a walk with their parents to try and find them.

Some less sugary music …

@janis b Great images Janis, as always! You have a great eye. I saw a cat playing fetch on youtube, I couldn't believe how the cat did it. Grabbing the persons arm, showing them the wadded up paper, bugging them until they through it, retrieving and demanding another round. Some are really personable, or dogable.
