Chris Matthews is doing more than just being a Dick. Millions of people watch his show and lots of them believe every damn thing that they hear. Older people especially. Fox News has changed American's views on what they think any more. How many people have lost family to right wing talking points? How many leftists now have lost theirs to Russia Russia because they watch and trust Rachel Moscow?

Matthews shouldn't be telling people that Bernie's ideas are the same as Nazis. If people can't see how powerful and dangerous constant propaganda is they aren't looking. Or being honest. How many of you hid under your school desks thinking you might be killed soon? So yeah Matthews needs to have his ass fired.

@snoopydawg I remember duck and cover in school. But, I have always wondered what the fuss about the Soviet Union was all about. In principal, to me, it was a noble "idea", a country, of the people, by the people, for the people. They put a man in space before the US for heaven sake.

In our own founding documents, we find the exact same "idea", of the people, by the people and for the people, as well as, "in order to form a more perfect union".

But nothing in our lives embodies any of these idea's, because, we are all in competition with one another, well, to have a better life for ourselves, at the expense of everyone one else, which, has always seemed repugnant to me.

Fairly historically accurate by modern standards and Ryan's book was great. I saw the movie in the theater when it first came out and between VHS and DVDs over a dozen times since.

A few years after the movie came out, the old Avalon-Hill company made a board game "Storm Over Arnhem" with novel mechanics -- which I played a lot back in the day.

if for no other reason than it is actually a 2 1/2 hour exposition on the futility and stupidity of war. I think of it as the Anti-Patton.

There are also a few subtle homages to 'All Quiet on the Western Front', including the oncoming rolling bombardment shot in the first battle sequence.

Great flick.

when it was released, at least one reviewer complained that Ryan O'Neal was too young to be cast as a Brigadier General -- that he got the role purely out of a cynical desire to add a young pretty face to the all-star cast.

in response, someone pointed out that during filming he was only 1 year younger than the historical figure he played, who was a 37-year-old US major general during market garden.

After Bernie Sanders' landslide Nevada win, it's time for Democrats to unite behind him

Let’s be clear: the other candidates were crushed, and Nevada was yet more evidence that there is no longer much serious opposition to Sanders. Michael Bloomberg fizzled completely in his big debut, and Democrats would be out of their minds to enrage every Sanders supporter by nominating a Republican billionaire. Joe Biden has lost badly in all of the first three contests, and it’s very clear that he can’t run an effective campaign. Elizabeth Warren’s campaign has nearly gone broke and in desperation she has resorted to relying on the Super PACs that she previously shunned. Pete Buttigieg can’t win voters of color or young people (and has accurately been described as sounding like “a neural network trained on West Wing episodes”). As Matthews says: it’s over. Bernie is dominating the fundraising, dominating the polls, and winning every primary.

whose jokes are not appropriate for a young blonde woman from Germany. I should have known, my mommy would have warned me and would have said I should pay attention to the company I keep.

So, you were among the Eindhoven liberators? Are you over 80 years old? Still too young for me, the real socialists would now be over 120 years old.

Well, I remember Knucklehead. He was always kind to me. Now I wonder for what kind of idiot he took me.

I will spoil your funny little interlude. You really think a good German could ignore this:

PS one of the earliest democratic socialist of Germany after WWII was Herbert Wehner. Unfortunately there are no translations of his speeches in video format. But here is a nice quote of him I like to add:

"The gathering of working people in the Federal Republic behind the flags of democratic socialism and the pushing back of the communists into the role of a hopeless minority is one of the most important contributions to securing freedom and democracy, which was made in Western Europe after 1945."
Herbert Wehner, 1953

That was in 1953. I was five years old back then. And I remember him shouting and hollering in the German Bundestag: Unfortunately only in German. But may be you get the sound of the music.

and put it into a program that could translate the German soundfile into English? Drives me nuts that I don't know how to do that. Or first I transfer the soundfile into a textfile and then translate the textfile and somehow put the translated textfile into the bottom of the original video.

I really would like to learn how to do it. Darn.
