Oh Dear, It Is Hilarious On The Other Place

The wreck list is overflowing with snark about the owners predictions.

The Front Page counters this with articles on Trump.

Where is Hillary Clinton and the great things that she is saying?

You would have thought since D-Kos already anointed the winner that they would be trumpeting her policies, seems they have nothing to say. Not surprising really.

No it's Trump, Trump, Trump.

I suppose an apt Bumper Sticker if she wins the primary will be:

Vote Hillary Not As Bad As A Republican.

Woot!

Could also be used as the D-Kos Banner along with

Fighting to elect more of the same Democrats

Worried about his popularity if Hillary wins and Kos starts banning dissenting voices and makes it Hillary-KosPac

You needn't worry. If Hillary gets the nomination, Trump will be the next President.

The fact that Bernie was the one to get the amendment for funding free mass medical clinics to be included in the AHCA has always puzzled me re TK's endorsement for HRC. You would think that fact alone would have made him a Bernie supporter - that was his most passionate issue for years.

like everyone else once they get to be potus.

obama went way too far than i would have ever guessed, drones and targetted killings, ect. but he did the cuba thing, that's unthinkable for practically any politician anywhere in usa. jfk started it in secret, that was killed off pretty quick, it went dormant and it took jimmy carter to open it up a litttle, but raygun immediately turned the screws on that process.

getting 'something done' is ambiguous and vague. a lot of it is in your own internal thought processes.

hillary will be unpredictable based on her current record, how can you even predict this kind of future potus for getting things done.

i think it is the fear of the unknown, people can't get a handle on someone as honest and open as bernie, they feel more comfortable with hypocrisy and gov lying as that is just the normal way of doing things these days. sad but true imho.

which you have to be as the "Amendment King". But he starts by asking for a lot knowing that means he'll get at least part of what he wants.

A good parallel is contract negotiations, whether you're talking about union contracts or individual service contracts (such as in the entertainment or sports industries). If you go in from a position of "here's what I want" and ask for a lot, you've got a good shot of getting part of that request. With Mr. Scribe a union employee for about 20 years of our marriage (he's still a union member in retirement), I read all the bulletins and newsletters during the negotiation periods and kept track of what was going on.

For example, the $15 minimum wage will meet with a lot of blowback, but in negotiations Sanders might at least get it up to $13 or $14 with future increases tied to increases in cost of living so we're not stuck with an outdated wage in the future like we are now. But with Clinton starting at $12, we're looking at probably $10 or $11 max, and I haven't heard anything about COLA increases under her plan.

Ask for a lot, you get a little -- ask for a little, you're likely to get nothing. That's the way negotiations work.

Starting up a huge grassroots campaign from a park rally less than a year ago, and now sweeping states that one does not generally see as politically aligned, is "nothing." "Astonishing" =/= "nothing" in my book.

The argument is that he's not part of the Democratic old boy's club and thus doesn't have the right connections to get things done. I would note that the sorts of things those people have been getting done have been wrecking the joint, along with a lot of other people's houses, for quite some time now; so this is a pretty weak argument.

All you can do is try.

I started a reply, but it sounded too rude.
Your sister as well as many people who are going to vote for Hillary have no idea about her past history. Especially the bills that she helped Bill get passed during his term.

Nor her actions when she was SOS and all of the countries she has helped destroy.
Isn't that called a low information voter? Not up on the candidates issues and is just going to vote for her because she's both a woman and a democrat.
And that's why a lot of people vote for the GOP.
If one is going to vote, do some damned research on the candidates to make sure you are voting for the person who shares your values

as THE "low information voter" has been worked to death, so don't blame yourself too much for that. I too used to think more that way, and these stupid Trump voters make me SICK of my own white people. And yes, I still do the knee jerk reaction to these idiots and call them every ugly name in the book.

But the low information voter in reality is probably the majority too. It is the people who don't pay much attention, get all their "news" from network sites for half hour or so, and are either too busy working to survive or too busy doing what we Americans are supposed to do - shop, play video games, watch movies, buy, buy, buy and don't worry about stuff so much, just get a new phone/TV/computer and all will be good. Vote based on who you'd like to have a beer with, as that type of interaction is really the only one you can even conceive of now.

We've been trained to be low information voters. Doing the kind of digging we do here, and the other place used to do, is not easy and takes lots of time. Time most would rather spend having fun, while those of us who do dig just sit and wonder how in hell it all came to this? How did we as Americans lose sight of so much?

This phenomenon of having the "liberal" wing of the "librul medua" define democrats as not-republicans became very clear during my time as an avid viewer of MNBC prime time. While Olbermann was so phenomenonally necessary during the Mess of W, especially for someone living in a very conservative area. But after 2006 and 2008, they just kept up attacking the now minority party, giving those dimwits on the right much more credit and power than was deserved. It was at that time thst MSNBC truly began to morph into the FoxNC for the Dems. Their excessive negativity when so many opportunities abounded was depressing as hell.

This was the gyst of my only post ever made on GOS: that the front pagers were nothing more than members of FoxDem, distracting the masses with the daliances of the right, while failing to project a clear reason or series of reasons for anyone to be proactive rather than reactive. I realize every time I read or write about TOP that I remain guilty of violating my own best interests. Ugh.

Somehow, it was okay to criticize Bush..., but not Obama.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fellowship_%28Christian_organization%29

"The Fellowship’s reach into governments around the world is almost impossible to overstate or even grasp," says David Kuo, a former special assistant in George W. Bush’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.[15]

White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_House_Office_of_Faith-Based_and_Neig...
The slightly re-named organization Dumbya created with one of his first executive orders in his first term to thank his rightwingnut supporters needs to be abolished and disbanded. It is completely unconstitutional to have a religious organization run out of the White House, and it is a toe in the door to instituting a government-sponsored religion that is forced on everyone. If you've studied the last two thousand years of history, you know how murderous the church was when mixed with government.

Three days after Obama voted in favor of FISA '08 (after voting against it once and issuing a campaign promise not to vote for it) he was asked about Dumbya's office of Faith-Based Initiatives, and Obama said he'd increase funding for it and expand it. Riiiiiiiiiight. So much for being a constitutional scholar who knows the Founding Fathers set up a separation of church and state for us! Obama's blatant disregard for the law and for the constitution started before election day'08.

I've never forgiven Obama for those decisions, among others involving illegal and unconstitutional wars and bombing. While he never had my support (nor did I support the other 'frontrunner' Dems in '08 since none favored impeachment or even investigation into the lies and war crimes of the Bushistas), these things tipped the scales against him in my eyes. I had to vote against McFartface and the Tundra Tramp in '08, then again against rMoney in '12, so Obama got my votes by default, but I agree with Michael Moore's assessment of how Obama will be thought of in historical terms.

This shit is bananas.

it was always with a caveat -- "Go and sin no more". It wasn't just forgiveness -- redemption was also part of it. And even restitution in some cases if possible. And it's not just sins of active commission, but those of omission as well; in the Episcopal General Confession those are covered as asking for forgiveness "for what we have done, and for what we have not done." It's not enough to just do no wrong -- you also have to do right by your fellow humans.

and the variance of same policy statements increase with the averages, aka flip-flopping on issues, this is an unstable system. that's inherently a scientific principle in statistics. average increase, variance of averages increase, instability. i can think of a few known case-studies.

so even if she''s not outright lying and engaging in hypocrisy, at the very least that system, rightwing/leftwing/whatever, it will not be conducive to public trust in an elected official.

for comparison, as bernie's average number of policy statements increase, and that is really normal as he lays out a vision for his administration, and one detects no variance in those same policy statements on record. this is an inherently stable system.

now the same could be said for trump, he has been outlining consistently fascist and rightwing policy statements, outlandish and objectional as they are, but not much variance in those positions that i can detect so far. which means we can reasonably predict a stable government, of the mussolini persuasion. unfortunately that does not rule out actual war-mongering across the globe, to be sure.

i don't want to live in an unstable system. no matter how progressive. and i don't want to live in a stable but quasi-fascist dictatorship under trump. the choice is plain as day to me. i just hope i won't have to write-in a candidate in november.

example, average strength of concrete increases, the variance of the strength increases. known fact in civil engineering and material science. iow it's more unstable as you make bigger structures in pure concrete, so that's one reason why rebar is introduced in concrete form work.

a pyrometer. measures high temperatures. as the average temperature increases, as measured by the pyrometer, the variance in the readouts increase. it's not the defect of the pyrometer itself, but it's a due to measuring within a system with increasingly unstable characteristics.

so to interpolate here, i think we all want to live in a stable society, but not a fascist one. the balance between freedom and security. that's not going to happen with hillary or trump, if past events can be used to predict the future.

[...] As I write this, Quantcast has us as the 125th largest site in the United States, out of all the millions of websites in the world. We are ahead of Gawker, MSNBC, NBC News, Bloomberg, NBC.com, TwitchTV, CNet, and the Onion. We are just a sliver behind Rotten Tomatoes, Salon, and TMZ. Depending on the day, we might be ahead of those guys too (and we were earlier this week). That’s a pretty elite neighborhood, and the trends continue to point up, up, and up.

The State of Daily Kos is pretty f'n amazing By kos Friday Mar 25, 2016

So I’m not particularly sympathetic to arguments that we should cover Trump less, but I am sympathetic to arguments that we should cover other stuff more. We’re kicking around ideas on that front, and we hope to start rolling some new features out over the next few months.

As always, thanks a million for everything you do for Daily Kos and your country. It’s gonna be a long, hard, ugly year. But think about it—when all’s said and done, it’ll all be worth it because we’ll keep the White House, win the Senate, reduce the GOP majority in the House, and most important of all—flip the Supreme Court.

Oh, and let’s not discount Donald Trump’s concession speech. That alone will be worth the price of admission!

OIC where Link Title shows now, finally. ear worm haha

what their straw polls look like these days, since it was 60%+ Bernie for all the ones I saw. Haven't looked since the 15th.

was on March 8. It ended at 55 - 43.

I'm sure he thinks it's irrelevant now, since he has pronounced the race over, so no more polls.

way back when after President Obama was sworn into office in 2009 on a blog site which I used to visit were displayed the president's approval numbers in the left-hand corner. I noticed that these numbers became net unfavorable. Then, one day, then numbers disappeared, never to be seen again.

I wish you peace and love, reader.

With some people, any criticism of Obama was seen as racist, even if it was totally based on policy. And now any criticism of Clinton is seen as sexist, even if it's totally based on policy. It's almost as if some people have adopted Reagan's 11th Commandment and changed it to "Thou shalt not speak ill of another Democrat." But it's important to hold our leaders accountable, and that means expressing ourselves when they fuck up. That of course doesn't apply to Bernie Sanders who isn't a real Democrat -- meaning he hasn't kissed the appropriate rear ends in the higher echelons despite the fact that he's probably stayed truer to actual Democratic Party principles than Obama and Clinton combined.
