Warren's people go Full Hillary

Just hours after Senator Warren declared herself a victim because some random Sanders volunteer posted something negative (but true) about Warren, her campaign staff went into full Hillaryesque lying smear mode.

The stakes were high when Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren met at Warren's apartment in Washington, DC, one evening in December 2018. The longtime friends knew that they could soon be running against each other for president.
The two agreed that if they ultimately faced each other as presidential candidates, they should remain civil and avoid attacking one another, so as not to hurt the progressive movement. They also discussed how to best take on President Donald Trump, and Warren laid out two main reasons she believed she would be a strong candidate: She could make a robust argument about the economy and earn broad support from female voters.
Sanders responded that he did not believe a woman could win.
The description of that meeting is based on the accounts of four people: two people Warren spoke with directly soon after the encounter, and two people familiar with the meeting.

That evening, Sanders expressed frustration at what he saw as a growing focus among Democrats on identity politics, according to one of the people familiar with the conversation. Warren told Sanders she disagreed with his assessment that a woman could not win, three of the four sources said.

Three of the four!?! What did the fourth say?

backstab.PNG

Of course this is total Bernie Bros bullsh*t smear.
It just shows that Warren has some really awful people on her team.

Sanders denied the characterization of the meeting in a statement to CNN.
"It is ludicrous to believe that at the same meeting where Elizabeth Warren told me she was going to run for president, I would tell her that a woman couldn't win," Sanders said. "It's sad that, three weeks before the Iowa caucus and a year after that private conversation, staff who weren't in the room are lying about what happened. What I did say that night was that Donald Trump is a sexist, a racist and a liar who would weaponize whatever he could. Do I believe a woman can win in 2020? Of course! After all, Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump by 3 million votes in 2016."

Let's imagine how this conversation went.

Liz: "I'm running for president."
Bernie: "Women are losers."
Liz: "You're cute. Let's be friends."

Warren needs to step up and tell the truth.
But the media has a narrative that they won't give up.

The conversation also illustrates the skepticism among not only American voters but also senior Democratic officials that the country is ready to elect a woman as president, several years after one clinched a major political party's nomination for president for the first time. Many Democrats believe sexism played a role in Hillary Clinton's defeat in the 2016 general election, and voters say they are torn about whether to try again to put a woman in the White House in 2020.
The revelation that Sanders expressed skepticism that Warren could win the presidency because she is a woman is particularly noteworthy now, given that Warren is the lone female candidate at the top of the Democratic field. And notably, their meeting in December 2018 came just weeks after a record number of women had been elected to the House of Representatives, helping to deliver the majority to the Democrats.

It's not a "revelation". It's a smear. There's a difference.

If they succeed, it's another four years of Trump - and they're not so averse to that either. ANYONE or ANYTHING but Bernie! Diablo

As to if Bernie actually said what these anonymous sources claim? Of course he didn't. But she needs to be held to account especially after she way too eagerly went along with the fake news story about Bernie's canvassing script.

I thought for awhile that maybe this is a Biden/Obama ploy to paint her in a corner. But it sure looks like Tom Watson, co-founder of Men for Hillary (along with Peter Daou who has since come to his senses and is now an ardent Berner), is running with the story and has jumped on the Warren bandwagon.

I don't think Watson has any fondess for Obama or Biden. And the whole smear job sure seems reminiscent of the stinky politics exemplified by Clinton Inc.'s favorite smear merchant David Brock.

Of course, there is the possibility that the smear campaign was launched to ensure that neither Bernie, Biden or Warren gets the necessary 51% of delegates on the first ballot, thereby allowing for the possibility of Hillary to ride in on her high horse to "unite" the party with the help of the superdelegates on the second ballot.

Yea, I saw that Warren bought into the fake news about the canvassing script (of course, who knows if even that was planted by her people?).

But she really, really, really needs to be confronted about the claims from the four staffers about Bernie and her private conversation. Unless I missed something (news keeps breaking fast), it seems she's keeping her mouth shut and not affirming or denying the claims which are obviously nonsense.

It has been shown in polls time and time again that voters have no problem with a woman president. Being female and/or non-white is an asset in a Democratic primary in 2020. One of the main reasons Warren supporters cite for backing her is her gender. It's as disingenuous as saying Paul Tsongas lost the 1992 primary because OMG, America just isn't ready for a Greek Orthodox President!

But right on cue the establishment psychopaths blame the voters when they start to falter. Hillary, Kamala, Cory, Julian, now Liz. How comforting it must be to rationalize your rejection by millions of people as their own fault because they just weren't READY for someone of your stature, depth, and brilliance.

five to qualify appear to be the remaining plausible contenders for their party’s presidential nomination.

They are former Vice President Joe Biden, ex-Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana, and three U.S. senators: Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.

So far so good. And then...

Sanders. He could win, but he’s the least likely of the plausible nominees to actually get to the nomination. He’s a factional candidate, and the process rewards coalition-style candidates. That’s always been the case and still is. He’s the least likely of this group to have party actors coordinate on his behalf if he does move into the lead, and the most likely to confront a real movement to try to stop him. That’s partly because he just hasn’t tried hard to reach out to the rest of the party the way that Warren has, and it’s partly because, regardless of what Sanders and his supporters argue, most party actors think that a self-identified socialist who believes the way to reach out to the electorate is to ignore the ideological middle poses a significant general-election risk.

they either don't care or are too lazy to vote.

That's not my experience. When I talk to non-managerial people who don't vote it's either because both parties suck or they figure the election is rigged.
Blatting about that Joe Biden is the popular choice just reinforces their views and further discourages them from voting. I do know women who voted for HRC for the first time because they wanted a woman President. And black people who voted for Obama for the same reason. I also know black people who followed Illinois politics, didn't like or trust Obama, but voted for him anyway just to have a black President. I don't blame them. If I were black I probably would do the same. I might have voted for Guiliani on that basis if the Dem candidate was not significantly better and I definitely do NOT like Guiliani. How much more powerful the tug for people historically marginalized and held as inferior.

The four begin to debate which person should stay behind and die. Mike Jordan says, "I am a rich sports icon, so I should get to live." He then takes a parachute and jumps off the plane. Hillary Clinton says, "I am the smartest woman in the country, so surely I should get to live." She then grabs a parachute and jumps from the plane. Billy Graham then says to the young school girl, "You have your whole life ahead of you. I am an old man who will probably die soon anyhow. You go ahead and take the last parachute." The school girl then says, "We can both jump. There are still two parachutes left." Billy Graham says, "What do you mean?" The girl then says, "Well, the smartest women in the country grabbed my backpack."

Accuse your opponent of your own flaws before he can accuse you of them.

It works particularly well if the person is actually the diametric opposite of whatever flaw you say they have. Then they won't expect the attack and will have formulated no defense. Like Kerry being called a coward in battle. Whatever else Kerry may be, there's nothing wrong with how he did his military service, and he's obviously not a coward. So the Kerry campaign didn't prepare for it. And had no idea how to deal with it, because there is no good way to deal with it, only more or less bad ways.

Actually, a fair number of people can trace their ancestry quite legitimately to Edward III. He had a whole passel of sons and daughters, and there weren't enough other Royals for all of them to marry, so some had to marry a step down...and then the next generation married another step down...and in just a few generations they were marrying untitled gentry, and in one or two more merchants and professionals, and so on.
