Hillary Clinton is obviously a Russian Asset
Hillary is "sowing divisions" in the Democratic Party, and isn't that all that is required to be "proven" as a Russian Asset?
It appears that Hillary doesn't have people intimidated anymore.
Bernie came to Tulsi's defense.
Tulsi Gabbard has put her life on the line to defend this country. People can disagree on issues, but it is outrageous for anyone to suggest that Tulsi is a foreign asset.
— Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) October 21, 2019
Notice how may Twitter replies were anti-Tulsi.
Hillary still has an army of trolls.
However, when even Beto of all people doesn't jump on board, then the Hillary train is done.
"Tulsi is not being groomed by anyone. She is her own person," former Texas Rep. Beto O'Rourke said over the weekend.Speaking to The Hill, O'Rourke added: "Obviously has served this country, continues to serve this country in uniform, in Congress, as a candidate for presidency so I think those facts speak for themselves."
...
Entrepreneur Andrew Yang defended Gabbard, saying she “deserves much more respect and thanks than this.”“She literally just got back from serving abroad,” Yang tweeted. Gabbard is a Hawaii Army National Guard major who served in Iraq.
Marianne Williamson, the self-help author, told Gabbard to "stay strong" and said she's the victim of attempted "character assassination."
“The Democratic establishment has got to stop smearing women it finds inconvenient!” she tweeted. “The character assassination of women who don’t toe the party line will backfire. Stay strong @TulsiGabbard. You deserve respect and you have mine.”
South Bend, Ind. Mayor Pete Buttigieg, also a veteran, was asked on CNN whether he felt Gabbard was a Russian asset and said: “I don’t know what the basis is for that.”
“I’d prefer to have the conversation be about policy, about what we’re going to do, and about how American lives are going to be different,” Buttigieg said Sunday. “When it comes to any of my Democratic competitors, that’s my focus, making sure that we make very clear the differences—and there are very real differences among us—and making it clear to voters what their choices are. That’s where I’d like the focus to be.”
...
Others, like former Vice President Joe Biden, are distancing themselves from the issue. His campaign declined to comment Monday
Biden not saying anything speaks volumes.
Warren also doesn't have the courage to speak up.
As usual, Matt Taibbi sums it up perfectly.
Hillary Clinton is nuts. She’s also not far from the Democratic Party mainstream, which has been pushing the same line for years.
...
CNN media critic Brian Stelter tried to suggest Hillary only seemed wacko thanks to a trick of the red enemy, saying, “It feels like a disinformation situation where the Russians want this kind of disinformation.”
...
If you’re keeping score, that’s pretty much the whole spectrum of American political thought, excepting MSNBC Democrats. What a coincidence!Democrats now are assuming the role once played by Republicans of the Tom Delay era, who denounced everyone opposed to the War on Terror as “Saddam-lovers.”
Trump last night defended Jill Stein and Tulsi Gabbard against charges of Russian influence. He wasn't supposed to do that, he was supposed to pretend they were not all on the same team. https://t.co/8wczbtseFd

So I guess Bernie isn't deplorable
How somebody could suggest such a thing is beyond me.
It's a matter of trust
and patience, too little of what many have.
What people don't seem to get
is that, in situations like this one, you could think somebody is a trustworthy person and yet still think that, with the right "leverage," they could be bullied into doing something.
What I'm about to say next doesn't apply to Bernie.
It's also true that people who look trustworthy are sometimes plants. Markos Moulitsas looked eminently trustworthy from 2002-2010. The enemy loves its long cons.
This results in a lot of people keeping one eye even on those that they (mostly) trust. Before Jimmy Dore got fired from The Young Turks and his videos started dropping off YouTube's recommended lists (even for me, and I watch him all the time), I thought he might be a plant. Jake Tapper coming out on the right side of Hillary's attack on Tulsi makes me suspicious that I'm getting played there too.
It's extremely difficult to navigate these waters, to remain as skeptical as the conditions warrant without succumbing to utter paranoia.
If people suspect that a public figure might be acting on behalf of the goons, that is not cause to attack the people who are suspicious, nor to resent them. I can't speak for all of us, but I'm doing the best I can to stay grounded in the truth, and I bet other skeptics are doing the best they can as well. Framing this in terms of personal betrayal or outrageous slander is not appropriate to the situation. I bet that if I could talk to Bernie one-on-one, while he might not like my position, he would not condemn me for it. He knows that lies, betrayals, and manipulation have become the currency of our politics. They ARE our politics now. I don't think he'd condemn me for holding back total trust.
As far as Bernie goes, what I'm seeing is a man whose independence is hampered but not destroyed. In other words, as Podesta said to Robbie Mook, they've got "leverage," but it seems the leverage only goes so far. At least that exchange between Podesta and Mook essentially proves that, in 2016, Bernie was definitely NOT working for the establishment. How much they've dragged him back into line is debatable, but it's likely that Bernie isn't just one more case of controlled opposition.
But there are limits to his independence. I notice he rarely tussles with the MIC.

Tom Watson Bashing Bernie and Tulsi
Tom Watson was one of the founders of Men for Hillary.
Here are a few of his choice takes and retweets on Bernie's defense of Tulsi (I am guessing that Houle had some high level staff and/or consultant position for Hillary 2016 -- I recall some of his articles bashing Bernie from 2016):
But this one is the scariest and most forboding of them all:
I never thought he was deplorable.
If you wonder how a good man could knuckle under to intimidation, perhaps you should check out wendy's latest essay on Assange.
Americans like to pretend that nobody of good character could be broken by threats. Not true.
I'm reassured that Bernie is a free and independent actor enough to speak out against this McCarthyism.

Wally...
if by "deplorable" you are referencing this exchange that you had with another user then I need to set something straight here. There are no political sacred cows here at c99, none, they are all open to criticism, including Bernie. This site itself does not back any candidates in particular and users here are free to promote whomever they want.
We ask folks to be civil with one another here, that does not extend to politicians and public figures.
He claimed he was making a joke
. . . by putting deplorable in quotes, not skewering Bernie. Either way, whichever way, I understand your concern and as I noted earlier will abide.
Oh no, I was criticizing Bernie
all right . That was not a joke.
In case anyone is curious, here is the post that got the ball rolling-
imo
I also gave a bit more in response to your objection.
If I could do it over I would say I found Bernie's silence "reprehensible", but I thought "deplorable" was cute at the time. Other than that , I stand by what I said. Anyone interested is welcome to read the entire exchange using link JtC gave this thread.
thanks.
Oh you were saying because Bernie didn't immediately comment
. . . his silence from Friday night to Monday afternoon (where he was very busy with his rally and PR afterwards) was reprehensible but you thought it funnier to suggest it "deplorable."
Seems you left this out above:
Thank you, however, for your clarification.
I disagree with your opinion, of course.
But I now understand that kind of criticism is considered legit here, even against Bernie and Tulsi.
Not my style of criticizing left candidates, but so it goes.
In any event, maybe you can clue me in to answers to a couple questions I have:
Exactly when does Tulsi think US military force will be justified against jihadists / "Islamic Extremists"?
And in what circumstances does Tulsi believe drone warfare is acceptable?
you got it
that is what I meant.
But this part is not quite right-
I reproduced my first two posts in their entirety, leaving nothing out. I thought I had covered the use of "deplorable" with this-
I simply thought I had used more than enough space and that anyone interested could follow the original thread. I made that suggestion.
The excerpt you give is from the comment which follows the first two. Here it is-
Of course the word "deplorable"
Next I try to make clear that I was disappointed with with Bernie's silence over the weekend, but that is not the same thing as saying he is a bad person.
That is what I said. Hard to imagine anyone being interested to read it all, but that's ok.
All comments but the first one are replies to comments you made. If anyone wants to see those they can go to the original thread.
thanks.
Better late

I don't expect much of Biden. Warren however, especially with one foot in the progressive camp ... the clock is ticking for her. Important issue for me. No excuses for sitting this one out.
Warren won’t say boo.

I judged Tulsi's response wrong
I thought she came on too hot, but it appears that a) the Hillary people didn't care, and b) everyone else thought that it was great.
My bad.
Clinton's as immoral and petty as the felon-in-chief
Someone in North Korea was spot-on in their assessment of our accidental president and was smart enough to realize that manipulating him rather than insulting would be very effective though not nearly as much fun.
I am amazed at the number of folks who went along with her-sociopathic-clintonness. I probably shouldn't have been since they are probably the same folks running around anointing her as the most-qualified-ever; irrationality like that is probably congenital.

How would you react if it was you?
You think Tulsi's response was too hot? I thought it was spot on because she was absolutely right about Hillary being a warmonger and responsible for the rot in the DP. The Clintons decided to get in bed with the banks and big corporations and the party went downhill from there. Trump is Obama's legacy, but Obama is Bill's. His taking so much money from the banks and then putting them in his cabinet and many of them Clinton retreads that were mainly responsible for the economic crisis. Yeah..the Clintons brought the rot.
Here's Tulsi's new tweet.

@gjohnsit I loved Gabbard's
Ditto!
I just got my copy of OPOL's Wear Your Love Like Heaven. It sickened me that the book has the name of Daily Kos all over it. Of course it was written in 2009, before any of us recognized the fact that the Democratic Party was becoming (or had become) the very same as the GOP that OPOL criticized. If he were here, I think he would have been all over this Hillary/Russian agent crap and probably would have finally earned that BOJO at DKos.

Tulsi is one tough and courageous person
As for Tulsi's response, I found it perfect and it is possible that she actually baited Hillary into her unhinged accusation. On a recent Tim Black Show, Tim put forth a theory posited by one of his viewers that Tulsi purposely sought to bring Hillary out into the open. In the last debate, Tulsi said something to the effect that when she meets people, she sees Americans, not deplorables. This harkens back to when Hillary called Trump supporters a basket of deplorables in 2016.
Whatever caused Hillary to launch her attack on Tulsi, it gave Tulsi the perfect opening to point out who Hillary really is which is the
There is only one politician in the Democratic party who has the courage to say what so many are probably thinking and that politician is Tulsi Gabbard. And it needed to be said. The Democratic party is still under the thumb of the Clintons and will not change until they are finally and totally excommunicated from it.
I honestly do not think it was just about trying to get votes or a bump in the polls for Tulsi. Tulsi is a very strategic thinker and her game is a long game for permanent change. Hillary is the one who overplayed her hand, not Tulsi.

Scientists are concerned that conspiracy theories may die out if they keep coming true at the current alarming rate.
I don't think sociopaths are stupid
They are cunning and destructive but not stupid.
Methinks Herheionous's remarks about Tulsi were carefully measured and timed to split the left and hurt Bernie and those she considers his accomplices. She realizes that at most Tulsi may pick up a few points in the polls (going from 1 or 2% to maybe 3 or 4% which won't come close to winning the nomination) and a few more votes, but that may be enough to sink Bernie and the left. And by associating Bernie with Tulsi and damning him for it(again look at those comments to his tweet), it will make it more difficult for him to get the centrist vote that still luvs them some Hillary.
Hell, either she thinks she can waltz in on a second ballot to "unite" the party or she's happy to let Warren win the nomination knowing that she has a snowball's chance in hell of beating Trump, thus blaming a faux leftist and ensuring a leftist or anyone trying to approximate one will never be nominated again.
Both can be true
I have long said that I believe that the DNC will parachute Hillary in on the second ballot of the convention using the super delegates to push her past Bernie. I believe that was the plan all along which is why we were seeing so many neoliberal candidates in the race. They are all Hillary proxies aiming at diluting the delegate counts.

Obama has power in the DNC, too
I don't think Clintons Inc. completely owns the DNC. But like you I've long been concerned by that second ballot scenario.
Maybe Obama actually has more juice. Tom Perez was/is his guy. But I don't trust him one way or another.
I do think that they (Obama/Biden and Clinton/Trojan Horse of the Month) have all been too smart for their own good coz they've established a means for Bernie to pull off a miracle and win the nomination.
We'll see how it all plays out.
And as much as I don't trust polls, I see a lot to like in that new Emerson poll which indicates a statistical tie between Biden, Bernie, and Warren. Now they have Bernie over Warren whhere it was the opposite last month. Of course, this news will be deep sixed by the MSM.
I figure we'll pretty much know what's what by March 3, Super Tuesday.

Hubris is Hillary
Hillary still sees herself as entitled to be the first woman President. She has a band of sycophants who flatter her ego. But in reality, Hillary is very much hated, not only on the right, but also by a large number of people on the left. She will never be President.

Here's why anyone
with a functioning brain should know it's BS:
If they really believe Tulsi's a Russian asset, wouldn't they be calling for her to be court-martialed and for her top secret security clearance to be revoked? Wouldn't the corporate media be contacting Homeland Security, the FBI, and the US Army to find out what they're doing about it?
None of that is happening, because they know it's BS.

This goes for Moscow Mitch and every one else people say are Vlad's puppet. But then no one ever talks about the hold Israel has over our government at all levels. Why is that?

This nation dare not have this conversation
....because it would take very little time for people to see all the demographic anomalies. And even less time to see how badly the American people have been used without their consent.
Which reminds me of something else I've noticed. When brittle people with low evolutionary potential are cornered by their own arguments that people should not receive benefits from their government, and why Americans should not be given the most basic human rights conferred on people in all developed and emergent nations, for example affordable housing or clean drinking water — they always stand their ground with the same answer. When it is pointed out that these rights were ratified unanimously by all nations in 1948 — and all other affluent and emergent nations immediately conferred these rights irrevocably upon their people, they say:
.
The brainwashing program wins again. Diversification is the reason that the American people cannot have nice things. (Or, why only 'some' of them can.)
And there it is
Bernie should have kept his mouth shut and not defended Tulsi because of a lot of insane reasons. Out of all the candidates that defended Tulsi from Herheinous' horrible accusations it's only Bernie' that should have not come to her defense.
But then I don't have much sympathy for him since he has been peddling the Russian propaganda nonsense crap. Lie down with dawgs Bernie!

And it's not just the Clinton wing of the party -- plenty of progressives have bought into the Russia madness, so this cuts across ideological boundaries.
Meanwhile there's barely a quorum among leading Dem voices for pushback against this scary cold war mindset -- Tulsi, probably AOC, a dozen or so prog podcasters and writers, and not nearly enough progressive office holders as I see it. JHC, even Donald spoke out against it, finally getting something right, although likely for a self-serving purpose.
I think it was Max Blumenthal who wisely observed at the outset of R-gate that the hysteria risked infecting the entire DemPty. That has come to pass.

That good old Alligator Ed was being satirical with his comments about HER mental health, but after this latest bit of weirdness I’m starting to come to the same conclusion. It really seems like the DNC paymasters are so desperate that they have been resorting to abusing people with name recognition (Clinton, Biden) but significant mental health issues to use as figureheads. That kind of abuse is both despicable and criminal.
