Monday: Want to bring back US forces engaged in endless wars: Trump

"We want to bring our troops back home. It''s been many many years. It''s been decades, in many cases. We want to bring our troops back home. I got elected on that. If you go back and look at our speeches, I would say we want to bring our troops back home from these endless wars," Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday.

Pentagon just announced the deployment of two more fighter squadrons, one air expeditionary wing, two Patriot batteries and one THAAD unit to Saudi Arabia just now, moments before briefing with senior officials.

Just waiting for further updates regarding the made up
trade war that are so easy to win.

BTW tRumpolini's fave bank just got a reprieve from the FED

https://nationandstate.com/2019/10/11/after-unveiling-notqe-fed-eases-li...

Having cracked down on Deutsche Bank in the past, The Fed appears to be playing good-regulator/bad-regulator as The FT reports that Deutsche is expected to benefit most from an imminent change in The Fed’s liquidity rules.

Specifically, US banking regulators have dropped an idea to subject local branches of foreign banks to tough new liquidity rules (forcing US branches of foreign banks to hold a minimum level of liquid assets to protect them from a cash crunch).

It's all pretty much BS

Update (1330ET): Bloomberg reports confirm US and China have reached a partial agreement that would broker a truce in the trade war and lay the groundwork for a broader deal that President Trump and Xi Jinping could sign later this year, according to people familiar with the matter.

As part of the agreement, China would agree to some agricultural concessions and the U.S. would provide some tariff relief.

The pact is tentative and subject to change as Trump prepares to sit down with China’s Vice Premier Liu He later Friday.

Instead of returning fire, the Special Forces withdrew once the shelling had ceased. Newsweek previously reported Wednesday that the current rules of engagement for U.S. forces continue to be centered around self-defense and that no order has been issued by the Pentagon for a complete withdrawal from Syria.

Why do you think Trump's being impeached? He wants to withdraw troops and wind down the war, that's why. If you don't get that the Deep State and Pentagon are working 24/7 to keep the war machine oiled, you're missing the big picture. War profits are at stake. Anyone that threatens the gravy train is thrown under the wheels of the Impeachment Express.

14,000 more sent over there with out congressional authorization, but of course he would have gotten it if he asked. I don't know why Lindsay is so upset about Trump moving the troops since there were so few there. What were they supposed to do to stop Turkey from invading? Saw a tweet that said a special forces guy was killed in the assault. Oh yeah. The Kurds were guarding 10,000 Isis prisoners, but can't do it whilst trying to stay alive so they are getting out and fighting the Kurds.

So...we have moved the troops, but not the secret ones? Oh yeah and some country bombed an Iranian ship today. Hmmm wasn't that long ago that some Saudi ships got targeted. Troop buildup. Bombing ships. Bombing Saudi oil tanks. Gee what's next? A false flag event that leads to all out war?

Impeachment has sucked all the news out of the room. Just like it's supposed to. Kids still being detained and lots of them in Mexico are living in dangerous conditions. But let's talk about the two men who committed election fraud. Like no one has ever done that. And of course people are falling for it.

....until Donald Trump sent troops to invade in May 2017. The object was to destroy the Syrian government and murder the Syrian people at will. It's Donald Trump's prerogative to lead the US troops out again.

At no time did anyone give a shit about the Kurds. Protecting the Kurdish in Syria is not a US objective. People are conflating the old objectives from Iraq's mission creep with the specific US objectives in Syria.

In January 2018, the Trump administration indicated its intention to maintain an open-ended military presence in Syria to counter Iran's influence and oust Syrian president Bashar al-Assad. Still not a peep about protecting the Kurds.

In September 2018, the Trump Admin began implementing a new strategy that sought to continue the US military chaos, while launching a major diplomatic push. No Kurdish objectives.

On the 19th of December 2018, President Trump unilaterally ordered the withdrawal of the 2,000–2,500 American ground troops in Syria, which was initially set to take place in a 90-day period and to be completed in 2019.

This month, in September 2019, Trump mentioned his promise to end the wars starting with Syria.

The Neocons and Democrats have started wailing about the Kurds, all of a sudden. They demand that the US stay in Syria indefinitely or they will order up another false flag chemical attack and blame it on Assad.

I'll bet Trump doesn't fall for it, this time.

@Pluto's Republic

Once again it seems that history just started the day Trump became president. But the other thing no one wants to address about the Kurds is that we used them as armed mercenaries to overthrow Assad. Did they fight ISIS? Dunno, but whatever they did couldn't match up to how we armed and funded them as well as our allies in the region. You know. AQ. The folks that we are told attacked us in NYC? Flynn testified to congress that Obama did nothing but watch as ISIS gained strength in the region cuz he wanted them to overthrow Assad. And gee... if they were successful maybe they could run the government. Bibi had no problem with that. Why should he since he too supported them and offered them medical treatment in Israel.

so yeah... let's talk about how we are abandoning the Kurds....

oil, it seems, but it's following that missile attack on an iranian oil tanker near the saudi port of jeddah, vi RT.com, oct.11

A tanker belonging to Iran’s government-owned oil corporation has been hit by two missiles and caught fire in the Red Sea, 60 miles from Saudi shores. The incident is being treated as a terrorist attack, local media says.

The tanker Sinopa, operated by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), was sailing through the Red Sea when the explosion occurred. The blast was powerful enough to damage two of its reservoirs, leading to an oil spill in the area.

Local media cited unnamed Iranian “technical experts” who believe that the incident could have been caused by a “terrorist attack,” but didn’t provide any evidence to back the claim.

The tanker’s crew wasn’t hurt in the incident, which took place near Jeddah, the largest port in the Red Sea and maritime gateway to Saudi Arabia.

NIOC, which once ranked second after Saudi Aramco in terms of crude oil extraction, told state-run IRNA news agency that the vessel was hit by what appears to be two missiles. That report did not expand on where the attack came from.

The news comes less than a month after a swarm of drones and missiles targeted Aramco’s major oilfield in the city of Abqaiq, inflicting heavy damage to the facility and cutting production in half. Yemeni Houthi rebels, who have been fighting Saudi troops since 2015, claimed responsibility for the attack, but Riyadh and its ally Washington pinned the blame on Iran – a claim which it vehemently denies.'

i hadn't seen anything but the attack, or different versions, but wsws kinda connects the dots today:

'According to a Pentagon statement Friday, the US Secretary of Defense phoned Crown Prince bin Salman (who also holds the post of Saudi minister of defense) to inform him of the coming reinforcements, which he said were meant “to assure and enhance the defense of Saudi Arabia.”
....................
While initiated as a supposed response to unspecified threats from Iran, the US buildup in the Persian Gulf region has constituted from its outset a military provocation and preparation for a war of aggression. This military buildup has accompanied Washington’s so-called “maximum pressure” campaign of sweeping economic sanctions that are tantamount to a state of war. The aim, as the Trump administration has stated publicly, is to drive Iranian oil exports down to zero. By depriving Iran of its principal source of export income, Washington hopes to starve the Iranian people into submission and pave the way to regime change, bringing to power a US puppet regime in Tehran.

The latest military buildup was announced in the immediate aftermath of an attack on an Iranian tanker in the Red Sea, about 60 miles from the Saudi port of Jeddah.
..............................................
“Examination of the details and perpetrators of this dangerous action continues and will be announced after reaching the result,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said.

The National Iranian Tanker Co. issued a statement saying that there was no evidence that Saudi Arabia was behind the attack.

The incident raised the specter of an escalating tanker war that could disrupt shipping through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, through which 20 percent of the world’s oil supply flows. News of the attack sent crude oil prices spiking by 2 percent.'

now whether of not one believes that iran is about to wage war on KSA, or is preparing to make war on Iran...but iran hasn't waged a war in 250 years, according to FM javad zarif.

but i did love this, and i've included the parent tweet in case some folks hadn't known of his initiative:

meanwhile, the pentagon at DT's request has been trying to build an int'l armada to challenge china in the south china sea. afik, it hasn't been going that well. ; )

on edit: what i'd neglected to mention was an israeli salse flag operation on saudi arabia, then attributed to iran (again), acting as casus belli to strike iran, including her nuclear power reactors.

but the irony of saudi arabia being ushered into the IAEA board of governors, which body will choose the next Head of the Govs, now that yukia amano died, or was possibly assassinated ('too friendly too iran' after el baradei) is akin to the fox guarding the hen house...or worse.

So far Iran is not rushing to blame anyone for the attack, but I bet they are thinking along the same lines I am. Who would gain from such an attack? Oil prices rising for a few hours is a lot of $$$$. Who else would gain from it? But seriously what's the objective? Keep Iran from selling oil? Where there is a will there is a way....

(Under breaking news) ‘Iran will not leave 'banditry' in intl. waters unanswered: Official’, Sat Oct 12, 2019, presstv.com

"Piracy and banditry in international waterways which is done with the aim of making shipping lanes for commercial vessels insecure will not go unanswered," Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said on Saturday.
On Friday, the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) reported that the SABITI tanker had been hit by two separate explosions near the Saudi port city of Jeddah. The blasts caused an oil spill that was stopped shortly after.
................................................
Iran's Government spokesman Ali Rabiei on Saturday described the attack on the SABITI as "cowardly", saying the Islamic Republic will respond after the facts has been studied.
"Iran is avoiding haste, carefully examining what has happened and probing facts," Rabiei said.
"An appropriate response will be given to the designers of this cowardly attack, but we will wait until all aspects of the plot are clarified," he added.

sorry i'd missed your 'what's next? a false flag?', snoopy.

ha! 'from the times of israel today: Saudi Arabia says it was prepared to help Iran tanker reportedly hit by blasts; But officials say Sabiti turned off its tracking system; Tehran claims vessel was struck by missile attack off Saudi coast'

but as bibi's likud party can't form a government, and his impeachment hearings have begun...what a gift a false flag on the KSA would be!

your pointing out Trump's increases in troop deployment to the region because I went with my hopes earlier in the week and posted my belief that, "Trump has at least enough wisdom to know he has Turkey over a barrel" in my essay about the Syria withdrawal. I feel foolish.

I honestly believed not only in his rhetoric but in the logic that Turkey would not go blatantly against world opinion. But of course they are carrying out the ongoing position of the Saudi regime as well as of our Deep State that Syrian nationalization of resources will not be allowed.

From the start, Turkey's support of ISIS has been acknowledged, even by our mainstream media, as well as by such public figures as Vice President Biden. So they're not doing anything we haven't tolerated for years, as they've armed ISIS, allowed them to transport arms and foreign fighters into Syria, and as they have invaded and attacked Syria in Afrin, about which we did absolutely nothing.

If I find myself grasping at straws to defend Trump's action and especially to defend Rand Paul, who has been Trump's strongest supporter in pointing out the insanity of our foreign policy, I guess I would say it appears this disaster in the Kurdish ISIS/prisoner/refugee area has been set up to fail by requiring Kurdish fighters to maintain the area, all along knowing Turkey would attack them. Which means we're carrying out the Saudi position as always.

Note the area of Syria's oil fields coincides with the Kurds overcoming ISIS, which had controlled the area previously.

@Linda Wood

I'm not sure if Trump is playing along with it, but one thing that will come from this is that ISIS will escape from their prisons and be able to wreak havoc on the country again. And our military won't be able to come home. Someone else said something about this is a back door into partitioning Syria...

Lots of different stories flying around on Twitter about what is happening there. Some say that Kurds are being executed by Turkey. BY ISIS. The white helmets have come out to play again...

Russia, Iran and Turkey met a few weeks ago. What exactly did they decide to do? Oh yeah. Germany won't sell weapons to Turkey anymore dabnabbit because of what they're doing. But not really. Just weapons that they are using for this little invasion..

See why I'm confused? Meanwhile people in Yemen are still being slaughtered by the Saudis with our help, but I'm not seeing the media freak out about that! Meanwhile in Ecuador the army mowed down 5 people, but the media is still only talking about what's happening in Hong Kong. The yellow vests are on their 48th week of protesting and of course the police are once again shooting non lethal weapons at them.

OMG add this to the big shop of horrors!

'Houthis Vow Retaliation As Saudi Naval Blockade Sparks Fresh Humanitarian Crisis in Yemen; Saudi Arabia has stepped up its seizure and detention of ships carrying food and fuel into Yemen, sparking shortages that experts warn will push the country’s civilians into even more dire straits', by Ahmed Abdulkareem, October 11th, 2019

'For 40 days, the Coalition, led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, has continued to hold 13 ships loaded with oil derivatives at sea, preventing them from entering the port of Hodeida. The UN has already inspected and licensed the ships in compliance with a decision issued by the Saudi-backed Hadi government that requires customs duties to be paid in Aden before ships can discharge in Hodeida.

The seizures are taking place despite a September 20 announcement by the Houthis that they would cease retaliatory attacks against Saudi Arabia in the wake of their attack on a Saudi Aramco oil facility and secret negotiations reportedly taking place between Ansar Allah (the Houthis’ political wing) and Saudi Arabia.'
