Friday Night Photos - Change of Season edition

Buonasera!

Anyway, I'm not sure what's happening tonight, so I thought I'd post a couple of shots with a seasonal shift theme.

We'll soon (up here at least) be changing from this:

to something far more sinister chilly....

Living where you do, in the decent latitudes (north of 37 degrees), you get that cold, white powdery stuff for four to six months a year.

May it not fail you in 2019-20. I've lived through a summer after a too-mild winter (evacuation from the Waldo Canyon Fire) and I do not recommend it! We need that dihydrogen monoxide!

But after a few months of shovelling the stuff, enthusiasm ebbs.

Sweet shot of the leaves in fall colors. That's something we don't get much of hear in San Diego which is a bummer, but on the plus side it doesn't snow hear.

A few from a trip to the zoo a few weeks ago.

I'm great at multi-tasking. I can waste time, be unproductive, and procrastinate all at the same time.

They are quite calm and friendly, if you leave them in peace. So, if they get too much attention they would rather throw up on you.

The little guy in the second photo is heart-breaking. Ever seen someone so scared about us humans?

Great photos. Thanks.

No change in color here in Florida, but I'm looking forward to Spring at home. On my way in a few days!

Here's something Autumn-like ...

Thanks for posting the POT.

I hadn't seen that before you mentioned it. It makes me wonder what white squash and garlic soup would taste like, even if it would look kinda bland.

Some chopped red chili and a green herb would dress it up nicely.

Just don't use Carolina Reaper chilis to do it.....

Y'all should watch the video I posted in the OT too if you need a pick me up after the news this week.

It's gloomy and windy here this week. Last week was so perfect. Brrr.

Fall? In south central Texas? It is still summer here. Sept. was just late August. Still no first-of-fall front!

But drought is rearing its ugly head, so the Virginia Creeper went 'fall' in JULY!
virgcrpr072819b.jpg

Until November, the biggest sign of fall here is hummingbirds.

This one is out of focus, save the bill going in the Red Turks Cap. But I liked it.
rt-turkscap100319a.jpg

We have had a couple hundred a couple weeks now. They blew out yesterday, maybe two dozen left this evening. The 'last call' at dusk a few days ago, there are a couple feeders like this on the front porch. And a couple being guarded by pricks.
rts092819.jpg

Next two are immature Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

We had an immature or female Broad-tailed Hummingbird for four days this week.

This is the Ruby-throated I rescued from the grips of that Praying Mantis. Which appears the non-native introduced type BTW. The hummer flew off and seemed fine...

Thanks all for all the great stuff all over the site... been too swamped to be around much lately.

He's a rescue from Alabama. Not quite sure what they feed them down there.
