Okay, let's play revise History cause it's yucky

Mayor Pete:

BUTTIGIEG SAYS THINGS NAMED AFTER THOMAS JEFFERSON SHOULD BE RENAMED

The mayor of South Bend, Indiana, was on “The Hugh Hewitt Show” Friday and said he believes removing — not celebrating — Jefferson is “the right thing to do.”

snip

“Well, let’s go to policy now—a very blunt question because you talk about going to every Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Indiana when you were running statewide. Should Jefferson-Jackson dinners be renamed everywhere because both were holders of slaves?” Hewitt asked. (RELATED: Pete Buttigieg Says America Was Never That Great)

“Yeah, we’re doing that in Indiana. I think it’s the right thing to do,” Buttigieg said. “Over time, you develop and evolve on the things you choose to honor … Jefferson is more problematic. There’s a lot of course to admire in his thinking and his philosophy, but then again if you plunge into his writings, especially the notes on the state of Virginia, you know that he knew slavery was wrong.”

Buttigieg acknowledged that “we are all morally conflicted human beings” and said he doesn’t think Jefferson should be airbrushed from history, but he believes commemorating the author of the Declaration of Independence is something else.

Here's a few.

Ghengis Khan was only trying to provide more arable land for his people.

The Great Wall of China was only built to protect our most lovely floral arrangements.

Rome only wanted to build stone walls because you keep the sheep from wandering (see Hadrian's Wall)

Pontius Pilot was only doing his job, goddammit

We are all descendants of Charlemagne, a prolific and beloved progenitor

Hitler, Stalin, Mao, come on lighten up, killing millions of our own people only was because there will be more for the rest of us. What's wrong with that?

Woodrow Wilson was not prejudiced, according to Nancy he's just like Ilhan, ""I think she has a different experience in the use of words".

Revising History is fun!

Give it a try.

Because they had just been the cause of an extremely long and bloody regime in the country. Heck, we're lucky that the English didn't hunt down the war criminals like Israel does to the German ones!

And really, I'd like to point out that the imposition of forced labor among the enemy during war time was well established in English and international Law at the time. The US had no grounds to rise up against England in 1812, who I might add was at war with the equivalent of Hitler...

I do not pretend I know what I do not know.

After all, he was trained on how to subjugate a culture, and one of the first tenets is to erase that culture's icons. And let's rename Jefferson - Jackson dinners because Jefferson was a wealthy man in Virginia in the late 18th century, not because Jackson was a genocidal maniac. Of course, if your real goal is to promote the election of racist Republicans by hypocritically pandering to a toxic identity politics hobby horse this plan makes perfect sense.

I used to wonder what my uncle thought of this asshole, as he looked down from painting a mural at the top of Coit Tower during the WPA. Then I realized it wasn't there until 1957, LOL. I still think it should be taken away, him and the likes of Junipero Serra everywhere. What's better than ceasing public worship of genocidal maniacs? I can think of other options too ~shrug~. Like turning it into a public restroom, that would make more sense, and be more humane I think. thanks

Chapter 1: Columbus, The Indians, and Human Progress

Arawak men and women, naked, tawny, and full of wonder, emerged from their villages onto the island's beaches and swam out to get a closer look at the strange big boat. When Columbus and his sailors came ashore, carrying swords, speaking oddly, the Arawaks ran to greet them, brought them food, water, gifts. He later wrote of this in his log:

They ... brought us parrots and balls of cotton and spears and many other things, which they exchanged for the glass beads and hawks' bells. They willingly traded everything they owned... . They were well-built, with good bodies and handsome features.... They do not bear arms, and do not know them, for I showed them a sword, they took it by the edge and cut themselves out of ignorance. They have no iron. Their spears are made of cane... . They would make fine servants.... With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want.

Same as it ever was. And you may ask yourself, how did it get there?

This statue of Christopher Columbus sits in the center of the parking lot for Coit Tower. The figure of Columbus, the famous Italian explorer, gazes out over San Francisco Bay standing on a concrete pedestal in the center of a circular flower bed, bordered by a marble ring. Dedicated on October 12, 1957, the newspapers of the time recorded that “Singers, sailors from American and Italian navies, and spectators stood in reverent silence as 12-foot statue of Christopher Columbus is unveiled today on Telegraph Hill. The sculpture piece was the work of Italy’s Vittorio de Colbertaldo. Columbus Day weekend will be highlighted here tomorrow with a parade.”

Little is known of Count Vittorio di Colbertaldo (Forlì 1902- Verona 1979), other than he was a member of, and official sculptor of Il Duce’s bodyguard.

Even fascist bodyguards deserved official sculptures, to sculpt more fascist art I guess. good identity

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

1. Hitler only invaded Poland in 1939 so he could replace their unhealthy kielbasa with good German bratwurst.

2. Poles only filled entry-level jobs at Auschwitz and other concentration camps because Germans didn't want them.

Kielbasa versus Bratwurst. The K is best grilled but then again you can cook the Brats in beer.

After that, regular potato salad or german potato salad as a side.

Man, you've made my brain hurt...

On a typical Sunday, my Polish Grandma would whip up some fresh and smoked kielbasa with side dishes of Polish sauerkraut and perogies followed by chruściki (angel wings) for dessert and stuff us until we were ready to explode. Then she'd say "you're looking too skinny" and give us candy and a glass of Vernors ginger ale and send us out to play.
