Chelsea Clinton takes heat for New Zealand Massacre

NYU Muslim students are not happy with Bill and Hill's daughter for her comments regarding Rep. Ilhan Omar, whose tweets she criticized as antisemitic when Rep. Omar criticized Israel. Last night they let Clinton know they blame her rhetoric for the Mosque massacre in New Zealand.

Muslim students have berated Chelsea Clinton at a vigil for the victims of the New Zealand mosques massacre, saying she is to blame for the attack.

Clinton, who is pregnant with her third child, was attending the vigil at New York University on Friday when senior Leen Dweik began castigating her in an astonishing moment caught on video.

'This right here is the result of a massacre stoked by people like you and the words that you put out into the world,' says Dweik, gesturing to the vigil for the 49 who were killed in Christchurch when a white nationalist shooter stormed two mosques.

'And I want you to know that and I want you to feel that deeply - 49 people died because of the rhetoric you put out there,' Dweik continues, jabbing her index finger toward Clinton as other students snap their fingers in apparent approval of her words. [...]

'I'm so sorry you feel that way,' Clinton responds, only to provoke more ire from the crowd.

'What does "I'm sorry you feel that way" mean? What does that mean?' an unseen male is heard shouting from the crowd.

According to NYU student Rose Asaf, who posted the video on Twitter, students at the vigil were angry about Clinton's accusation last month that Rep Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, used 'anti-Semitic language and tropes' while criticizing Israel.

Video of the confrontation:

First, what a terrible nopology by Clinton. "I'm sorry you feel that way" is meaningless and condescending. But, more significantly it's interesting that someone other than Trump is getting blamed for attacks on Muslims, and a Democratic (cough) icon, at that. I don't believe Clinton or Trump had much to do with inciting the individual who murdered people attending mosques in New Zealand. The groundwork for these murderous attacks has been laid down for decades by western politicians and the news media. However, it is good to see that a member of the Dem aristocracy is taking heat for conflating criticism of Israel with anti-semitism. Our lords and masters all too often skate if they are Dems for the hateful and slanderous rhetoric they promote whenever Israel is mentioned in an unfavorable manner. The Dems claim to care about human rights, but that's all it is, a mere statement of concern, since their support of Israel's genocidal policies is as strong as the Republicans.

Rep. Omar was right to call out Israel's influence on our politics, even though she was forced to apologize for her truthful remarks. Democratic politicians are in bed with AIPAC, and it's hardly dishonest to point out this fact, as Ms. Omar did on twitter.

The remarks in question came during a discussion at a Washington bookstore on Wednesday about how critics have repeatedly labeled Ms. Omar’s criticism of Israel as anti-Semitic. She argued that the label is being used in bad faith to shut down debate.

The sentence that garnered the most attention was, “I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is O.K. for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country.”

Remember this is coming from Democrats who support making it illegal to promote divestment in Israel in protest to their apartheid regime in Gaza and the West Bank. So, it's good to see any Democrat criticized for carrying Israel's water and inciting hatred of Muslims.

Anyway, this exchange warmed my heart. I love when the untouchable elite get a verbal smackdown from a regular. Chelsea Clinton is a poster girl for nepotism and her pathetic response was beyond obnoxious.

to accuse CC of anything to do with the NZ killer. Focus should be on DJT's racist rhetoric and the female RW media person (name??) who he mentions by name in his manifesto. Criticism of CC should be on the issue of prohibiting criticism of Israel and the power of AIPAC. I don't see why she needed to apologize for what happened down there. I ended up feeling sorry for her, and I'm not a big fan of the Clintons.

@wokkamile to accuse any US pol individually for what this murderer did. However, it's not a stretch to blame anti-muslim sentiment on a broad spectrum of western politicians, who, along with their governments and the media have demonized Muslims far beyond any rational bounds.

in the ME is a large factor in why mosques are on the map.

Her families support, the bipartisanship, was key for making perpetual war in the ME a reality. Of course this is also part of "siding with Israel" or "being a friend of Israel" as well; you can't be a friend of Israel without killing and displacing muslims and normalizing the killing and displacement of muslims.

That's a pretty straight line, IMO.

And of course, it's a tangential issue - public immigration policy is the primary political apparatus - but it is the cause of refugees and the dehumanization emboldens the white supremacist.

@k9disc you had to stretch to make the daughter responsible for the FP sins of the parents. Now, maybe CC has publicly supported our war efforts in the ME, and it wouldn't totally surprise me if she did, but I'm not aware of her public stances on that, and the verbal assault on her seems to be strictly limited to her condemnation of the Muslim rep's remarks.

nothing about stopping war. Her parents are war criminals that are adulated and nearly worshipped. She's floating around the NGO world and has been for a long time. Wields tremendous power via the Clinton Foundation...

I think she's fair game, personally. When it comes to the politics of perpetual warfare, don't hate the playa hate the game.

@k9disc @k9disc Chelsea Clinton has been out in the public opening condemning Ilhan Omar. Therefore, she has opened herself up to criticism and deservedly so. I am not the only person who thinks that way as evidenced by numerous tweets by well known public commentators and journalists.

This is not a case of just the sins of the parents, but a case of Chelsea's own sense of entitlement and privilege. Chelsea's very words that she used at the beginning of her speech were intended to set her up as being privileged and absolve her of an wrong doing. "As an American..." These words were intended to intimate that Americans of the Muslim faith are not real Americans. Further when confronted, she shifted the blame back on the young Muslim woman who confronted her by saying, "I am sorry that you feel my comments were wrong." This is person of privilege speaking.

Chelsea Clinton spoke out against Rep. Ilhan Omar and accused her (Omar) of anti semitism. Taking such a public stance is enough alone to make Clinton open to criticim.

@gulfgal98 recognize that the attack was planned well before CC made her comments?

I think it's ridiculous to trace such an act to any 'hostile' comment by anyone. As far as I have heard, the manifesto doesn't mention CC at all, and expresses admiration for the Chinese type of government.

I never knew that the term "Never Again" only pertained to
those born Jewish

"Antisemite used to be someone who didn't like Jews
now it's someone who Jews don't like"

Heard from Margaret Kimberley

I understood that Omar had criticized a lobbyist, and not Israel directly. In any event, her wiki article cites ALL the instances in which Omar made an allegedly anti-Semitic remark, the last of these being the one that supposedly drove Democrats to pass an anti-Omar bill bill condemning anti-Semitism. Judge for yourselves if the target of the bill was anti-Semitism, or Omar or Omar's views, which are to the left of the views of most Democratic officeholders.

Israeli–Palestinian conflict

During her time in the Minnesota legislature, Omar was critical of the Israeli government and opposed a law intended to restrict the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.[66] She compared the movement to people who "engage[d] in boycotts" of apartheid in South Africa.[65] During her House campaign, she said she did not support the BDS movement, describing it as counterproductive to peace.[67][68] After the election, her position changed, as her campaign office told Muslim Girl that she supports the BDS movement despite "reservations on the effectiveness of the movement in accomplishing a lasting solution".[69][70][67] Omar has voiced support for a two-state solution to resolve the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.[65] She criticized Israel's settlement building in the occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank.[71]

In 2018, Omar came under criticism for statements she made about Israel before she was in the Minnesota legislature.[68][66] In a 2012 tweet, she wrote, "Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel."[66][72] The comment, particularly the notion that Israelis had "hypnotized the world," was criticized as drawing on anti-Semitic tropes.[66] The New York Times columnist Bari Weiss wrote that Omar's statement tied into a millennia-old "conspiracy theory of the Jew as the hypnotic conspirator".[73] When asked in an interview how she would respond to American Jews who found the remark offensive, Omar replied, "I don’t know how my comments would be offensive to Jewish Americans. My comments precisely are addressing what was happening during the Gaza War and I’m clearly speaking about the way the Israeli regime was conducting itself in that war."[72] Later, after reading Weiss's commentary, Omar apologized for not "disavowing the anti-Semitic trope I unknowingly used".[74]

In an exchange with the journalist Glenn Greenwald in February 2019, Omar tweeted, "It's all about the Benjamins baby" in reference to American politicians' support for Israel and invoked the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). A number of Democratic leaders—including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, and Majority Whip Jim Clyburn—condemned the tweet, which was interpreted as implying that money was fueling American politicians' support of Israel.[75] The Democratic House leadership released a statement that called Omar's tweets antisemitic and "deeply offensive."[76] The Jewish Democratic Council of America denounced her statements.[77][78] Omar issued an apology the next day, stating, "I am grateful for Jewish allies and colleagues who are educating me on the painful history of anti-Semitic tropes", adding, "I reaffirm the problematic role of lobbyists in our politics, whether it be AIPAC, the NRA or the fossil fuel industry."[76]

On February 27, 2019, Omar spoke at a bookstore and said of her critics, "I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is OK for people to push for allegiance to a foreign country." The statements were quickly criticized as allegedly drawing on anti-Semitic tropes of dual loyalty. House Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Eliot Engel said it was "deeply offensive to call into question the loyalty of fellow American citizens" and asked Omar to retract her statement.[79] House Appropriations Committee chairwoman Nita Lowey also called for an apology and criticized the statements in a March 3 tweet, which led to an online exchange between the two. In response, Omar reaffirmed her remarks, insisting that she "should not be expected to have allegiance/pledge support to a foreign count

BTW, remember in 2006, when Nancy promised to "drain the swamp?" Aside from Rangel, who was allegedly under investigation for THREE Congressional elections and was shamed and invited to resign by then incumbent Obama, the Democrats targeted indeed seemed guilty of unsavory behavior. (I don't consider the "bread crumb sins" for which Rangel was finally censured "unsavory" in the same way that I consider Weiner's behavior or the behavior of Massa unsavory. She also took down Republican John Ensign. One Republican to three Democrats, with two of the three Democrats being succeeded in the House by Republicans.

Apparently, "the swamp" contained not a single Blue Dog. Raise your hand if you think only those Democratic members of Congress that Pelosi targeted were the only corrupt Democratic members of the House. Raise your hand if you think Ensign was the only corrupt Republican member of the House at that time.

Massa alleged his ouster actually came from Rahm Emanuel, then Obama's chief of staff; and Obama obviously agreed enough with targeting Rangel to put the power of the Presidency behind it publicly. So, Massa's claim is plausible, IMO.

And where was the awful policy of backing incumbents, no matter what, when Mike Capuano was primaried? (IMO, they tried, and failed, to get him out by re-districting, which was how they got rid of Kucinich.) If you want to read something truly lame, read the reason the Boston Globe gave for supporting Pressley over Capuano. Only a naïf would have missed that the Globe's endorsement was as cynical as it could be.

Anyway, it just strikes me odd that House Democrats seem to unify against only leftist Democrats, whether or not there is independent justification.

CC spent 2 years campaigning lying for mom

In one of her early campaign appearances, Chelsea stated that Bernie was going to take away everyone's health insurance.

A while later, I was talking with a friend who said her mother was going to vote for Clinton because "Bernie's going to take away my Social Security!"

I pointed out that actually Bernie was the only candidate who would not destroy or degrade our social programs. But I know where my friend's mother got that idea. It was from Chelsea, lying her face off. In so doing, hurting other people, and not even having the basic sense of humanity to understand that she is hurting people. "I'm sorry that you feel that way".

The Clintons are trying to pave the way for Chelsea to follow in their footsteps. Keep the Clinton Foundation political dynasty con machine rolling.

She doesn't get a pass.

She doesn't get a pass because she's "pregnant with her third child", as that news report made sure to tell us right up front. "Oh, poor pregnant Chelsea, someone was not polite to her, oh nooooo."

She does not get a pass to behave like an insipid, narcissistic sociopath. Period.

She took a course in a foreign language from a far off land, the land of the 99%. Obviously there are times when she opens her mouth and show she's a foreigner with little understanding of the culture.

@Le Frog

You were wrong to verbally attack the pregnant daughter of a former U.S. President and Secretary of State. You got in Chelsea Clinton's face, pointing your fingers in her face, when she had attended that NYU vigil to show support for the victims of the NZ massacre. You owe Chelsea Clinton a public apology. Chelsea looked frightened, you had her against the wall. Chelsea was invited to that event and you are not the owner of NYU to tell Chelsea or anyone else to get out of an event they were invited to. I think your behavior towards Chelsea was horrific. Whatever the issues you have with your life, Chelsea Clinton is not the cause of them. Chelsea Clinton husband is Jewish American and she is the mother of 2 and pregnant with her 3rd child. If she felt that Omar Ilan comments were anti semitic and publicly said so, that is her right as an American citizen. You were bullying her and no excuse for your behaviour that you think you have justified what you did. You owe her a public apology and NYU should look into this matter. It was not right what you did.

Most comments are against the woman who confronted Chelsea. Omar's comment was dangerous anti Semitic don't you know and the democrats should have kicked her out of congress. People strongly feel that Israel can not be criticized for any reason.

IMG_2315_1.PNG

As stated here Chelsea protested against some anti war people when she was in the U.K. for schooling and as Mr. Webster states Chelsea parroted her mom's attack on Bernie's health care plan as well as some other things he ran on. The $600,000 for giving 9 (?) reports on some silly stuff would never have happened to someone who wasn't known or had parents like Chelsea does.

It sure doesn't seem that many people have a problem with AIPAC getting our government to censor us in regards to the BDS movement. That just proved Omar's point. We're giving Israel over $10,000 a day while we have starving children and thousands upon thousands of people who are homeless.

Oops..combined my Chelsea rant with my Israel one. Oh well.

to NZ for the Muslim attacks and if that's not tone deaf hypocrisy I don't know what is. I didn't see one person connecting the attack to what their governments have been doing in the Middle East. Obama used his drones to kill thousands of innocent civilians. Hillary got us to invade and overthrow Gaddafi and then arm terrorists to kill Muslim civilians. Albright used sanctions to kill close to a million people in Iraq by starvation and lack of medicine and half of them were children.

And not one person connected the migration of Muslims all over Europe to their leaders who are responsible for it. Don't want refugees flooding into your country? Find a way to stop the senseless wars that is causing them to migrate. Especially here where so many people don't think our poop smells.
