Tons of compost

Good morning everyone.
Well, it's election day today. I actually voted last Friday and took it to the post office.
Had about a dozen local initiatives and a couple of amendments to pour over. And a half dozen judicial races that had only one candidate. Can't see a reason to check the box when there is only one box.
Funnily enough, one of the initiatives proposed eliminating those voter preferences on the ballot if only one person was running.
Makes sense to me. There were probably a dozen races where there was only one person to vote for.
It isn't voter turnout that we lack, it's candidate turnout.
I suspect it has to do with money, or lack thereof.
And while I'm at it, I think we need an initiative to make all election yard signs compostable.
Thread is open.
Did we win yet? Sooo much winning.

responses are being eaten for some reason. Last try:

Composting campaign signs is a good idea. Not a big fan
of all these road side placards. Understand people want to
make a statement, but take them down after the fact. Would
rather admire the colorful foliage without the distractions.
Thanks for the OT.

@QMS
I live in a really contested district (Perez/Braun) so lots of $ being spent especially on signage. Many get left after the election.
Seriously, they should all be made out of bio degradable materials and wooden sticks.
Thanks for the Smither tune.

voted early. We had a very heavy turn out, so I figured today would be a long line, long wait day. I like to wait until the last day to see if any candidate gets arrested or makes a total ass of themselves right up until the polls open.
We did not have a single Democrat on the ballot in my county or district. They were decided upon in the primaries.
Insofar as state races, I flipped from my support of democrats in judges races. I have always understood democrats would be less punitive at punishment phase, and more receptive to the little people suing a corporation. However, the trend to buck ICE has led to countless low bond releases of immigrants with a violent criminal history. The last murder and mass murder in my county were committed by immigrants with violent priors. A judge released the single murder guy with an ankle monitor. He removed it and tried to escape across the border. He had weapons in his vehicle.
The whole voting experience for me was pretty much useless. On the other hand, I needed the reckoning, to fully understand that I am what TPTB consider a useless eater, just in their way, a hurry up and die person.
The value of signs is that it marks my neighbors as people with whom a chat should be mostly about the weather.

are non-partisan. But we all know better.
I think we should shut down even legal immigration until we control our borders.
I notice we just let another closet Nazi in, Flavio Bosanaro.
Have a great day.

@earthling1 once in office, must set political affiliation aside, remain impartial. You must find that humorous, as all we Texans do.
The old version of ICE was a highly trained, highly respected branch of our police force. All it lacked was manpower. Regular highway patrolmen were given the option of working as temporary ICE agents for a year for higher wages. It was a very successful operation. Immigrants made application, had background checks, and got in if they met all criteria. Then comes Biden.
Then comes the cartel. I have written before that immigration affects me in a very personal way. A huge cartel colonia 25 miles away to the south east; one to the south about 14 miles away; a colonia about 20 miles west; an enormous colonia is burgeoning 13 miles due east.
Democrats ALWAYS come first and foremost for guns. Well, around here, you pack a gun to go grocery shopping in certain towns. Only idiots would not keep loaded weapons inside their homes within easy reach. Cops might not respond to a 911 call for 30 minutes in this rural county. Until they arrive, I would be on my own.
It is these 2 issues that have turned me away from today's democrats.

my Dad ran for a judgeship position and he was
keen to point out it was non partisan. He didn't
generally favor one brand over the other, as I recall.
More like me, candidates are taken in individual instances.
An R or a D does not necessarily imply good or bad character IMO.

They are certainly more vocal than Americans.
There was supposed to be a nationwide dockworkers strike to protest sending weapons to the war zone(s). Did it happen? Or was there a news blackout?
I'll have to check out "In these Times" and see what happened.
Thanks for the French video.

home front.

I agree with Cap'n Q about signs being left up after the fact. Beyond making signs compostable, and hence prone to self destruct in inclement weather. We really need provisions penalizing the party rsponsible for all except bona fide billboards, be it the property owner/tenant of, in the case of those on public property, phone poles and like, the campaign responsible. Arguably, once the election is over, those along roadway medians are litter and should be fined as such.
